How would you make a Fantastic Four movie work?
>>
I'd hire Josh Trank to do it.
>>
let josh trank direct his sequel
>>
>>77688418
no
>>
>>77688418
I wouldn't bother even trying. FF doesn't even work as a fucking comic what makes you think it would work as a movie?
>>
Inb4 some faggot whose never read the book suggests setting it in the 60s
>>
>>77688418
just "adapt" the incredibles, it'll work

Make it like Ghostbusters
>New York setting
>Drab, utilitarian uniforms
>Emphasis on comedy as well as action
>>
Set it in the 20s.
>>
>>77688481
What's wrong with that?
>>
Call it challengers of the unknown
>>
I'd cut out the middleman and just take a bunch of money and flush it down the toilet
>>
>>
Just adapt the Ultimate version.
That's a fine origin story.

Or alternatively, if you want to make it mesh in the MCU, have the Fantastic 4 origin story happen in the 60s, but due to temporal shenanigans, they come back unaged in the modern era. So you can keep the family values and camp just fine.
>>
>Late 60s-70s setting
>Late 20s cast
>make doom more like comic book doom instead of OC donut
>clash of mysticism vs science
>reed can't really explain magic and adheres to science
>doom mixes both
>f4 works out team work issues and shit
>>
>>77688418
I would make a comedy with lots and lots of smartass quips, only have them in costume for a total of 5 minutes throughout the whole movie and make Dr Doom into an alcoholic that was faking being a real villain the whole time.
>>
>>77688418
I'd make 90% of it happen in space, microverse, another dimension or whatever

the rest would mostly be doom or namor

Set it in the future.

The fantastic four is a hard group to make a film out of because there is not really anything about them we haven't seen before. Its 3 super generic superpowers and a hulk wannabe. They need a gimmick beond their powers and having them in the future is a great way to deal with that.

Doctor doom would work as a sort of cyborg dictator from that time period, making his character fresh, yet with a backstory similar to the comics.

End the film with Doctor Doom going back in time or something to finally fit him into the mainline cinematic universe. Better yet have the plot instead of them trying to find an alternate world, revolve around them dabbling with timetravel. They get their powers from a mishap similar to the newest movie.
>>
>>77688781
Because it only gets recommended by people who think the four are hokey and wouldn't be able to succeed in the modern day, then usually gets followed up with "and then they end up in the present".

I don't know why so many people think it's a good idea. The FF aren't Captain America, they aren't preset to a specific time period. If anything, with the privatisation of spaceflight, their origin story makes MORE sense if it was set now than in the 60s.

also just start it in the middle of things without trying to fucking explain things for the billionth time. something like this:

reed: good news everyone i made a thing
*doom bursts in* FUCK YOU REED
reed: vic pls no
doom: RAAA TASTE MY SUPERWEAPON
reed: quickly senpai get in the thing

then they escape to faggot dimension or whatever, explore it pursued by doom until they eventually return to earth, fight him off and resolve whatever subplots
>>
>>77688781
Why's it a good idea? How would setting any of the Fantastic Four movies we've seen so far in the 60s have fixed them?

It's a dumb idea done by people who don't know how to fix the problem.
>>
>>77689038

Do a movie with another villain for once.
>>
>>77688467
The Incredibles idea was a good one. The concept as an adult style live action feature is dead and gone. Don't even try.

Instead, give it good writing and plot it up for the teen market and use the same Disney Animation team from Hero Big 6 and get what profit / exposure you can from it.

The incredibles only worked because they didnt care about origin stories or any of that. They just said "superheroes are everywhere and whoops now they are in hiding". Not to mention changing the characters so they are the classic nuclear family really did wonders for it.

Start off with the Four established, but being kept secret by SHIELD at Reed's request. Have Sue telling their origin story to Franklin while tucking him in.

Doom attacks the building, the four fight against his Doombots in the opening credits, when it's over - Franklin is gone.

Doom has kidnapped Franklin in the confusion. Reed comes off as more happy he gets to stop Doom than angry that he stole his son.

The Four have their wits tested by Doom once they enter Latveria, he breaks them apart one by one until they're split up and it's only Reed left.

At this point the audience has to hate Richards, his lack of emotion to Ben's disappearance (gone to do a b-plot to make the people of Latveria realise Doom isn't as great as he seems), Johnny's illness (he's out of action from something Doom did) and Sue's anger at him (for not seeming to care about what's going on) make him come off as cold and unrelatable. That's when he gets into the castle.

Reed. Gets. Pissed. He fights Doom but ends up losing, the sheer extent of his rage making us realise he was suppressing it to do the job better. Doom literally throws him into hell, where he sees Doom treating Franklin like the father he should have been, Doom gloats to him on how he'll raise the boy better than Reed ever could.

Reed's been broadcasting it all to the others. And had set up a cure for Johnny through seemingly trivial actions he'd done throughout the film.

Sue cures Johnny, Ben organises the rebellion. They reunite and bash down Doom's door, with an army of Latverians behind them.

It's all too easy, Doom's defenses haven't killed a single person. When they reach his throne room he tells them how wrong they are, that he'd never hurt his people, he hasn't harmed Franklin and what a danger the Four's lifestyle is to the boy. But he offers them a chance.

Him vs the three of them for Franklin, loser gets trapped in hell. They convince him to let Reed join the fight. Bad idea. - cont

First movie adventures in the Negative Zone with Nihilus.
It's perfect
>>
>>77689406
Combined, with years of experience as a team, they match Doom. He's beating them but something's different this time - Reed.

He realised while in hell that he has to be more communicative, try to involve the family in his life and actions. He leads them into combining their powers in a way they never even imagined (Supernovas, fastball specials etc) and they beat Doom easily.

So Doom gets trapped in hell, Franklin is saved, Reed's had a character arc and the young Latverian man Ben made friends with becomes the new ruler. His name is Kristoff.

'Happy ending', credits roll and after they're done we see Reed in the baxter building, talking to people and seeming much happier. He enters a private lab and pulls up a display which we can't see, he smiles briefly and walks away, we see the screen and it's a bioscan of Sue - she's pregnant.

End

In the far future Humans have became extinct and the World is ruled by a society of Androids. However one by one human babies begin to turn up unexpectedly from thin air. The Androids determine to keep their society human free just kills them on site. However a smal village of androids have keep four human babies out of site. however when they grow into teenagers that are finally found out. So the small village of androids take these four human teenagers and sends them back in time into the past in a euclidean trianglar space craft.

The space craft encounters a cosmic storm which gives each of the four teenagers Super-powers. When the four reaches present day New york City they are quickly detained by the government and become property of the United States Military and used to counteract terrorism here in the United States and abroad. when they twart an act of terrorism at the Baxter building in New York City the four notice that proto types of a proposed android is very similar to the ones that ruled Earth in the far future. Consequently the four will now make it their mission to destroy these android prototypes from becoming reality in order to prevent the Earth from being ruled by androids in the future. However their new mission will be made even harder when they find out that the Baxter building is own by the foreign Country of Latveria.

And things get doubley hard when the androids from the future track them back into the past to destroy the four once and for all.

Have it be set in the nineties, using funding from NASA which is at full steam at the time, the five have already been to space and received their mutation from cosmic radiation.

The Four travel through a portal to the Negative Zone, don't return for twenty years.

The villain of the film would be an arch of one of the other heroes that the Four help defeat at the behest of SHIELD, highlighting how differently the Four work as a team compared to the Avengers.

Most of the film serves as worldbuilding for the Four, to introduce them to the lore. Johnny and Sue are culture shocked, whereas Reed is excited to have technology advance in what they have perceived as a short time. Ben is distraught that his wife has completely moved on, and is glad to be rid of him.

The Four are shocked to find that their old colleague is the President of Latveria, the country where the battle of Sokovia happened in Age of Ultron. SHIELD tries to use their previous friendship to get intel on von Doom, who they suspect was subsidizing Hydra in order to build a hyper-advanced army.

Stark is excited to meet his childhood hero, who he grew up watching characterized cartoons of, only to be disappointed when Reed is smarter and well liked among his teammates.

In a post credits sequence, we learn that Thanos is collecting the Infinity Gems in part, to combat the looming threat of Galactus.

>>
>>77690307
More so than now.
Having extended family live together is practically unheard of in modern white American families.
>>
>>77688418
Make it a Dr. Doom movie.
>>
Start with a movie about Reed's dad doing spy shit and a movie about a teenage Victor learning magic and failing to free his mom from Hell. Maybe also a movie up in space, about one of the Heralds, or Kl'rt. Then a movie about Reed and Victor meeting in college, getting invited to the Baxter Building, sort of a First Class type film. Have the plot of the movie be stealing the ship and getting the powers. Victor doesn't go because the experiment Reed tried to help him with blows up in his face. He assumes Reed did it to keep him from getting the glory, and he disappears. Movie ends with the 4 getting their powers and forming the FF. Doom in Latveria, implying he's gonna take it over for the stinger. Various movies about Skrulls, Doom, the Wizard, maybe Mole Man or Fin Fang Foom. Throw in Alicia Masters, Lyja the Laser Fist, Super Skrull, Franklin and Valeria's births, maybe X-Men stuff if Fox wants to do crossovers, the Future Foundation. If so, I would recommend using Rachael Summers. And the Power Pack if they can swing that. End the series with Galactus and Franklin from the future. Maybe a Silver Surfer Requiem movie.
>>
>>77688418
Cast Vic Mackey as Thing and Captain America as The Human Torch, throw in Jessica Alba's invisible titties, and sprinkle on some british guy nobody cares about and you have a decent FF movie
>>
>>77688915

I've only ever seen it suggested when people are trying to fit it into the MCU, and not because they think it's silly, but because they think it's ridiculous for them to be "newcomers."
>>
Why is everyone making plots for them to be in the MCU? As if Fox is gonna give up the rights. They cancelled the movie so they could make more money off a better restart, not to give it up.

it's a Doctor Doom movie where Doom isn't SHIT, and the audience ends up liking the hero antagonists being jokey do-gooders despite themselves.
>>
>>77690356
>Extended family

The whole point of the FF is that they didn't start out particularly close knit. Johnny was an angry teenager who quit the team in the 2nd issue, Ben was Reed's old college buddy who resented the fact that he had to hide away from society and fought with everyone as a result, Reed was a prick to everyone, and Sue didn't know if she wanted to hand around with any of the rest.

Then they all gradually learned to like each other and became an extremely close knit team and family. It's a classic sitcom plot, like All In The Family or something. It's the one thing the first Fox movie ALMOST got right: the team bitches and moans at each other but they all come together at the end to beat a major threat. If the directing/acting had been better the movie could have been alright.

A better version of the 90s cartoon would be perfect, but good luck getting that off the ground.

>>
>>77688418
Do it in the 60s like Fox was planning on at one point.

Make a point about how the F4 are held up as heroes while mutants are demonized. Or something like that.

Also give it a budget that won't get it laughed out of the room by Disney and WB. No Fox, you CAN'T do the Fantastic Fucking Four low budget style.

>>
>>77690356
It's not. There's so many people now who can't afford to move out that it's still ridiculously high numbers of them living at home in their 30s.

It depends where you are in the US.
>>
>>77691939
Probably, but they've had two shots now and they've both got very poor reputations, which means they're unlikely to make much money from the rights (as the rights already owe a considerable amount from the most recent movie).

What they are useful for - in theory - is selling back to Marvel in say five years when/if Marvel is looking for something new, or maybe just sitting on them in case Marvel ends up using an FF-only character by accident. Stranger things have happened: it didn't come out until after FOX had used Colossus that they'd never actually owned the rights to him, despite buying the X-Men rights. He wasn't part of those for whatever reason.

As it stands, spending $120m just to make a movie and another $55m to market it isn't really a good way of making money, and no amount of time is going to remove the internet. By the time the next reboot rolls around they'll have to contend with bot-made webm compilations of the FF's greatest goofs and shittiest scenes. That IP is poison now.

So who knows? Maybe they're idiots. Maybe they're just unlucky. Maybe they'll be smart about it and try to get money out of the rights without spending any more on them. Who knows?
>>
>>77691939
Producers have to go to financiers and convince them to give them money to make a movie, having to do that with a franchise that your studio has historically failed to monetize will be hard.

It can go either way but if they keep the rights it will just be to be petty at this point.
