I know a friend who is trying to make a business of patreon furporn comics. He's barely breaking 200 bucks a month and supplements it doing commissions. And trust me, the guy is advertising like crazy.

It's not magic money. It's a lot of luck and hoping that people don't pull their pledges at the end of the month

Cant shake the feeling that this patreon bubble is going to burst, like people are going to get donor fatigue or something.

Most people would either support ongoing series (like webcomics) they're actively following or people they have a personal relation with. I think very few people would go like "so this dude drew porn I liked once, I gotta give him my money forever", but that's just my assumption.

It's already like that, though. Making a living on art isn't easy because art is accessible to everyone. Anyone can start drawing.

Friends and fellow smut artists have told me many times I should get a patreon thingamajig. Then I put the idea by my followers and got next to nothing for a response, so I didn't bother. Seems like I'd be putting in twice as much work to supplement the patreon page in addition to my commission work.
