Although I always try to make her ugly on purpose I never quite fully succeeded.
I feel like the day I figure out how to make Kat look exactly the way I want to will be a huge step for me as an artist. It's harder than you think to do something as off-model as I do and I'm insanely frustrated with my inability to make it work.

The thing is, Tom's not the best artist, so some of his characters aren't abstracted from real life.
Kat is such a character.
She is an enigma.
I have never seen anyone who looks like I would imagine her irl.
That's why it's extremely hard to imagine a more realistic depiction of her.
She exists purely on the 2D plane.
That's what makes her so special and unique.
She's always been a huge challenge for me.
Even idlecil's take on her doesn't quite look right.

Kat has the hugest eyes in the comic. She's almost drawn in a slightly different style than everyone else. Look at that panel with her and Paz. It's almost like a regular person talking to an anime.

This isn't a criticism of her design or of Tom's art, but it does make it more difficult to imagine Katerina as a real boy.
