So does anyone get annoyed when people try to act as their headcanon is true even after it contradicts "word of God"? Case in point, when people tried to say Rose has slept with other humans before she got with Greg. It feels really pretentious when people do this shit.
I don't have a problem with people liking worldbuilding or whatever in their heads but you can't confuse them with fact.
Isn't death of the author more about interpretation? OP is talking about things that aren't even hinted at from the source material and people essentially making shit up.
>OP is talking about things that aren't even hinted at from the source material and people essentially making shit up.
Rose said she'd dated other humans before. It's not unreasonable to guess she slept with them.
No, because why the hell should I give a fuck what a fandom pulls out of their ass? If anything, it's kind of amusing to see people lose their shit when months, if not years of meticulously constructed fantheories that are treated as though they're holy dogma is completely nullified by whatever show or book they're obsessing over.
The example that gets me unnecessarily riled up is when people say that Fionna, Cake, and the other genderbent Adventure Time world takes place in "The Land of Aaa."
They've never used that term in the shows or comics or anything. It's always been just Ooo.
That's on TV Guide. For whatever reason its episode descriptions said the first Fionna and Cake episode was set in the "Land of Aaa" and it stuck even though the writers said they don't know where that came from and that they never used it.
>Implying "Word of God" said Rose was a virgin before Greg
>Saying it without source even though it's blatantly spelled out in-show
It's pretty clear that Rose had only a very loose understanding of human love up until that point.
I'm not saying that she definitely slept with other humans, but it's not an unreasonable assumption to make.
What? Dude, I posted the exact dialogue.
But she didn't really "love" anyone the same way she loved Greg, she only loved them superficially and sexily.
OP is probably confused and thought when the crew said "love" they meant "sex", the same way OP's kind is often confused when they see the crew say "Greg and Amethyst weren't in a relationship they were just friends" and think that confirms there was no one night stand between them.
She says she's loved other humans. This can mean anything from platonic to romantic feelings, they don't elaborate. Yet judging from the awkwardness of Rose trying to carry on a romantic relationship with Greg, it's safe to assume that he's the first she considered more than a friend or a cute toy.
Obviously Rose Quartz didn't have kids with any humans before Greg, since she had to, y'know, give up her life to make Steven. But it's still quite possible that she had sex with other humans beforehand, just without shapeshifting all the parts necessary for reproduction. She didn't have a deep understanding of human romantic love, but the actual mating is a pretty obvious part of it; she might have thought it was cute and wanted to try it herself.
>Deprived virgin please
Sorry, this Pearl's already taken. You'll have to get your own.
Pre-marital sex, adultery and promiscuity certainly do contradict the Word of God, and its a shame "progressives" want to attempt to force their ideas about sex and relationships even into our children's cartoons.
>Case in point, when people tried to say Rose has slept with other humans before she got with Greg. It feels really pretentious when people do this shit.
Wut? She outright said that she has been with other before. Even the other Gems call Greg "her favourite one".>>77658099
You'd better provide a source, mother fucker.
Dating someone and being in love isn't the same thing.
>>have you dated other humans?
Here, it's all you need to prove OP worng.
This thread is a wreck.
>and its a shame "progressives" want to attempt to force their ideas about sex and relationships even into our children's cartoons.
Except for adultery (that isn't even implied in the show), strongly disagreeing. Telling kids "you are most likely going to date several people before meeting the right one" is one important thing to know about relationship.
It's hilarious when people try to act like Steven Universe is just an innocent vanilla children's cartoon with no possible further implications, while knowing who makes the damn thing
I get the feeling that getting a gem pregnant isn't possible unless they purposely shapeshift the right equipment for it. Even than I get the feeling she just gave herself a tummy to feel the part.
Greg is the first human who she took seriously in the end but Pearl's talk implies she had other 'distractions' in the past.
>I get the feeling that getting a gem pregnant isn't possible unless they purposely shapeshift the right equipment for it. Even than I get the feeling she just gave herself a tummy to feel the part.
Your right she did make a womb and vagina for greg
>Except for adultery (that isn't even implied in the show), strongly disagreeing. Telling kids "you are most likely going to date several people before meeting the right one" is one important thing to know about relationship.
Also that the right one will have dated people before you. Placing value on "the first love" and virginity is pseudo-religious bullshit.
As much as I hate SU and its agenda, this is good.
>and its agenda,
It doesn't have any kind of agenda. they just tell the story they want to tell.
Fuck, all stories, no exception, are always loaded with certain kind of values.
Hating a story not because of the values themselves, but just because it has some is simply pointless.
Technically there's no telling that's not the case with gems, them being shapeshifters and all.
>If sex happened and pregnancy happened before
Pregnancy has only ever happened with Steven.
She had to specifically form a womb inside of her for that. Other than that, Sex with rose was always safe sex.
How does having a few relationships over 5000 years make you a whore?
And to be a whore, she'd have to do that in exchange of money (or be unfaithful, depending the definition you give of the word). I don't think anything ever imply that.
It make no sense for Rose to have sex in exchange of money, and nothing indicate she has cheated on anyone.
>and nothing indicate she has cheated on anyone.
Pearl's are made for fucking and keking
Now you are getting it. More specifically though, women enjoying sex makes them whores. That's why they are obviously whores if they have it with multiple people. That would only happen if it were enjoyable.
>So does anyone get annoyed when people try to act as their headcanon is true even after it contradicts "word of God"?
My head canon tells me you're a faggot and the Korrsami bullshit is a long con Asami put into place to begin her World Domination
>Greg: Have you...loved...other humans?
>Rose: Have you?
>Greg: Have you ever been...in love...with a human?
>Rose: How would I know?
>Greg: It's torture.
This. I haven't seen much of this show but I don't understand where this sex stuff is coming from. It seems like everything about two people in this show boils down to "they fucked" to the fans.
Pearl and Rose fucked
Greg and Amethyst fucked
Ruby and Sapphire only fused because of sex
I don't get it
That's every fandom ever.
>These two characters like each other! They must of fucked!
>These two characters hate each other! They must have had a complicated past where they fucked!
>These two characters eyed each other for 4 frames, you know what that means!
Doesn't help that the writers of this show seem to add sexual tension wherever they think they can get away with it and still have it be called a kids show.
>I haven't seen much of this show but I don't understand where this sex stuff is coming from.
From this >>77663404
In the 5000 years time period, before Steven was conceived, Rose has dated other humans.
Op is saying it's proof that Rose never fucked before Greg (Steven's dad).
>loved == dated
Try again. It's very clear that Rose thought of humans as toys until Greg, including the point that he asked her this question. So any "love" she felt towards humans before would be that same sort of love she would feel to a toy or pet.
>Pearl and Rose fucked
Gems don't fuck other Gem. But Pearl an rose have fused
>Greg and Amethyst fucked
That has never happened, just some fanfic speculation
>Ruby and Sapphire only fused because of sex
Not exactly, their fusion is powerful because they love each other and their fusion is the expression of their love. But it's not the only reason, they make a damn effective fusion.
Gems have clearly been established as different than human. people tend to compare sex and fusion, but it's clearly different things with different purposes.
> slave Pearl with long hair and bangs
...More please? can't reverse
>So any "love" she felt towards humans before would be that same sort of love she would feel to a toy or pet.
You are jumping to conclusion and being fanfic-y, here. It's possible to date and have sex with someone without being actually in love.
Saying that Rose MUSt have treated her previous relationship as toy/pet is making assumption with nothing to really back it up.
>with nothing to really back it up.
The evidence is how she treated Greg and all humans.
>Rose: *singing* Human man, you are so much fun. I hadn't planned, on finding you quite this entertaining. I like your band...
>Rose: *singing* ...and I like your song. I like the way, human beings play. I like playing along. Oh-woah-oh-oh-oh-woah-oh.
>Rose: That's not a problem! I love humans! You're all so funny!
>It's possible to date and have sex with someone without being actually in love.
Every interaction between the Crystal Gems and humans has shown a big divide. Remember Historical Friction?
This only show a lack of serious relationship.
>Every interaction between the Crystal Gems and humans has shown a big divide. Remember Historical Friction?
This does not contradict the possibility of having sex, though.
Fusion is fucking/lesbian relationships (sans Stevonnie). It's not deniable anymore after Jasper called Garnet disgusting and Peridot said she was uncomfortable with her being constantly fused.
Denying it is as bad as the people who say the gems are genderless so that their lesbian faggorty won't be censored.
So Alexandrite and Sugilite is fucking? What? Jasper clearly dislikes Garnet because she sees her as weak because she's a fusion (a fact she outright stated). Jasper was even very willing to fuse with Lapis as a way to be the CGs
I like how this bro totally took "Word of God" wrong
It's a TV Trope dude, look it up
In b4 I WAS JUST TROLLING OLOLOLOLO
Homeworld views fusions as a weapon. Garnet walking around fused is basically pic related all the time.
No, the burden of proof is on the one who sate she didn't. Aka, OP.>>77657968
I never stated as a fact that she actually fucked before Greg (though I consider it very likely, but I am not trying to stance it as a fact either)
Fusion is two sentient lifeforms being fused together into a single, symbiotic being. The parallels of fusion and relationships are intentional because they are literally dependent on the relationship between them to be maintained.
That's all they are.
Fusion is looked down upon by Homeworld because it is an aversion to the natural state of singular, individualistic gem existence. Fusions transcend their obvious social hierarchy and make gems that are lower in status and strength than others comparable or better than their supposed masters.
Homeworld keeps gems separated as much as possible to maintain order.
... Anyway. There's no sex going on. Fusions are an implicit taboo in their society and is only used for momentary military advantage. Like, you know, fusing millions of gem shards into one singular fusion that can be woken up to destroy a planet.
Sexuality is a human projection on gem relationships. Unless, of course, you are going to state that Steven and Connie are having constant sex as a fusion and that Rebecca Sugar is some kind of pedophile deviant mongering filth to children.
Because, despite that being true, probably isn't the case.
No making a claim that she did would require the proof that she did. It's saying "Rose did X because of Y proof" but saying "Prove Rose did X" does not require proof in itself because it's a statement that is requesting the proof.
>Rebecca Sugar is some kind of pedophile deviant mongering filth to children.
She is though
NEIN NEIN NEIN NEIN NEIN NEIN NEIN NEIN
>The PROTECT Act includes prohibitions against illustrations depicting child pornography, including computer-generated illustrations, also known as virtual child pornography. Provisions against virtual child pornography in the Child Pornography Prevention Act of 1996 had been ruled unconstitutional by the U.S. Supreme Court in its 2002 decision, Ashcroft v. Free Speech Coalition.
Get fucked, rapist.
That's not how it was treated in the recent episode, with every character reacting awkwardly to Peridot telling Garnet to separate.
Garnet tying her up is supposed to be empowering for homos.
If a Californian came to Texas, forced to work with a group there, one of which always had a gun slung on their back, and the Californian told the Texan to stop open carrying, how do you think the other Texans that don't open carry are going to react?
>That's all they are.
Stop being dense. Maybe if all of the transformations were a simple "FU-SION-HA!", then you'd have a leg to stand on.
It's not about consent. It's just that gems only fuse to power up for fights and survival situations and Garnet considered odd for doing it outside of that.
Jasper seemed baffled by it. Peridot was uncomfortable around her because of >>77663995
It's not like you can walk up to a couple, ask them not to hold hands in your presence and act surprised if they're offended.
Maybe in that situation they'd be afraid of him shooting the Californian, but why would they working with that guy if he's so unhinged.
Fusion in the context of the Crystal Gems is supposed to be something positive and Peridot is complaining about the "PDA" from Garnet.
>Maybe in that situation they'd be afraid of him shooting the Californian,
No, they'd think "why is this pinko hippie imposing his liberal bullshit on an honest, upstanding gentleman?" Take it from me, I live here.
Just because you want there to be a parallel doesn't mean there is one. Gems don't have sex and they don't have a biological analogue to sex. It's painfully obvious from what is shown in the show that fusion is not normal, unlike sex, which is something nearly every human on Earth is expected to do at some point. Gems even being in an intimate relationship is portrayed as rare, you really don't have any leg to stand on in this discussion.
>without consent with one of the Gems
But that's not how fusion works in the show. Malachite is an outlier due to the fact that she is litterally being kept together by the pressure of earth itself.
>transformations were a simple "FU-SION-HA!
They pretty much are. Just more extravagant. Garnet is the only fusion in the show that says she's an "expression of love" from the gems who make her. Take for instance Sugilite who sees herself as one whole gem and doesn't like to be split up. It has nothing to do with Ruby and Sapphire wanting to be together with Amethyst forever. It's more due to the fact each fusion has a different purpose for different context.
"It's not a joke in Steven universe because I've decided it's not."
When I think of it, even the context is similar. Bugs is dressed like a valkarie to get into an opera song. Steven is dressed like that to get into a girly pop song.
>Bugs is dressed like a valkarie to get into an opera song
Did you even watch that cartoon or are familar with the structure of Elmer Fudd cartoons?
>Steven is dressed like that to get into a girly pop song.
He took Sadie's place and is in a dress because the silhouette in the poster had a dress.
It's just Steven being a fag and there's nothing particularly funny about the situation. Everybody in universe just says how "cute" it is along with the lesbian couple witnessing like I said.
>Garnet is the only fusion in the show that says she's an "expression of love" from the gems who make her.
They all say it's because of love in one of those shorts.
>Take for instance Sugilite who sees herself as one whole gem and doesn't like to be split up. It has nothing to do with Ruby and Sapphire wanting to be together with Amethyst forever.
Yes it is. And that's what they were planning on doing.
>It's just Steven being a fag and there's nothing particularly funny about the situation.
It's fucking hilarious, man. Dude, SJWs fried your funny bone.
>Everybody in universe just says how "cute" it is along with the lesbian couple witnessing like I said.
What did you want? Everyone in the audience to get on stage and start beating him?
Gumball dressed up like a cheerleader too. It'd be tough to find main characters of a show that HAVEN'T crossdressed, and I'd say at least half the time they aren't berated for it or the audience isn't visibly disgusted. You've just decided Steven Universe is being progressive so you refuse to see that scene in any other light than it being progressive.
Also there's a lesbian couple. Big whoop. Lesbians do indeed exist and sometimes go to beachapalooza.
Sugilite is her own being though. Garnet explains this in the introduction of forced fusions. Also I wouldn't really count the shorts considering Garnet tried to smash Amethyst in one.
>It's painfully obvious from what is shown in the show that fusion is not normal
It's shown that how the home planet views fusion is corrupt and unhealthy.
>Gems even being in an intimate relationship is portrayed as rare
We see it all of the time.
>I hate when people try to parade their headcanon around as true despite what the show demonstrates or the creators say!
>Here's my very own super special headcanon that does just that.
I didn't read the thread.
I didn't have to.
I knew how it was going to go down.
>It's fucking hilarious, man
No it's not.
And it's showing that it's not a joke.
>What did you want? Everyone in the audience to get on stage and start beating him?
People laughing at his performance to indicate that he's doing it to be funny and not be "brave."
>Gumball dressed up like a cheerleader too.
In that situation or the one where he has to wear a wedding dress because his clothes shrunk and no one realizes it's him are supposed to be embarrassing for the main character. Also not funny, but clearly jokes.
>You've just decided Steven Universe is being progressive so you refuse to see that scene in any other light than it being progressive.
There's no other light it can be seen in.
>and supposed to be embarrassing for the main character
It was embarrassing. Steven didn't care. He did it because he pushed his friend to do something she didn't want to do and felt like he owed the crowd.
>to be brave
Holy shit I thought you were being serious for a second.
>There's no other light it can be seen in.
Let's just agree to disagree then. I'm not gonna pretend like I know what the crew was thinking when they wrote the episode and I know that neither of us are going to change the other's minds. If you think it's being super progressive with that episode and trying to push an agenda, so be it. If that makes you not like it, so be it. We can agree to disagree and stop shitting up every thread arguing about it.
Anon, SU is basically western shojo ai. All the gayness and genderbending and crossdressing is not new, its the same in every shojo ai anime like Utena. Its here to make little girls go squee, and its been here for decades. You dont have to be so angry about it.
>No it's not.
Yes it is?
>And it's showing that it's not a joke.
How? That doesn't make it any less funny.
>People laughing at his performance to indicate that he's doing it to be funny and not be "brave."
That is not a requirement for it to be funny. Do you need laughing tracks to know when a jikke is done on television?
>There's no other light it can be seen in.
It's a guy in a dress. It's inherently funny.
you being cancer right now?
>There's no other light it can be seen in.
Embarrassment isn't a requirement to be funny. The joke come from the unexpected. you expect Steven to just come on stage and sing instead of Sadie, but instead, he goes full style and the dress result in a amusing contrast.
And no matter what, it's not pushing any kind of agenda.
>one anon pretends to be a retard
>absolutely everyone else replies seriously
"Provisions against" would mean adding an exception to the law for certain scenarios. Having exceptions to forbidding depictions of child pornography would be unconstitutional is what it's saying.
Learn to law speak nigga. Every word counts.
boy i sure hope this thread goes into the right discussion like how best to get your pearl to cry out!
Death of the author also means death of the fanfiction author. The work stands alone. As well as the derivative work.
Co can be so tsunderu sometimes.
This is getting too meta for me.
>It was embarrassing.
It's not protayed that way. Why else did they skip over Lars.
>Holy shit I thought you were being serious for a second.
I am serious.
>I'm not gonna pretend like I know what the crew was thinking when they wrote the episode
It's pretty obvious what they're thinking even if they refuse to flat out tell you when asking them.
>Its here to make little girls go squee
Steven isn't a bishonen. Not that there aren't pedos who find him attractive, but he's not designed to be like that. And the cast is mostly female.
So your shojo ai description doesn't work.
>That is not a requirement for it to be funny
It's the context for finding a crossdressing performance funny. If you have characters taking it seriously like in the show then it's not meant to be a funny moment.
>It's a guy in a dress. It's inherently funny.
No it's not.
>The joke come from the unexpected.
You knew that was going to happen as soon as you saw the determination on his face.
>And no matter what, it's not pushing any kind of agenda.
It's pushing crossdressing as being more acceptable.
That doesn't defeat my point.
Remember to ignore metal ill people on the internet.
>heard that dialogue and literally thought they were talking about something other than relationships
>heard amethyst say "this one's my favorite" and STILL literally thought they were talking about something other than relationships
see how many weenies come out of the cracks at the very notion of someone different than themselves?
what a nice group of emotionally stable people you must be.
>It's not protayed that way. Why else did they skip over Lars.
Dude, Lars doesn't matter. None of it does.
>I am serious.
Then calm down your tits. you are blowing a joke out of proportion.
>It's pretty obvious what they're thinking even if they refuse to flat out tell you when asking them.
Making Steven dress up as a sing like a popstar is funny and cute. This is what they were thinking.
> If you have characters taking it seriously like in the show then it's not meant to be a funny moment.
Man, you couldn't be more wrong. The most straightfaced they play it, the finniest it is.
>No it's not.
Yes it is.
>You knew that was going to happen as soon as you saw the determination on his face.
That he was going to sing instead of sadie, yes, thta he would be go full glam, no.
>It's pushing crossdressing as being more acceptable.
1. there is no big deal about that.
2. Crossdressing has been the norm in cartoon for ages already, there is no ground being broken, there.
Seriously. If you stopped seeing agendas everywhere, you could actually start enjoying things. TV and game has never changed the mind or opinion of anyone. Only open debates and education (and maybe, to a lesser extant, actual TV news on actual real things) can affect one's view of the world.
You sound like a feminist who think that featuring a lewd woman in love with the male hero is goign to affect little girls.
There i no more SJW agenda as there is a patriarchy agenda.
how violent video games affect developing minds is still as relevant a topic today as it was then. Just because you're a mad lil gamer baby doesn't make it any less so.
Ever see those ISIS ads that are essentially COD trailers? Now realize that COD is in actuality an ad for the US armed forces
Crossdressing is a fetish. It's not the same thing as being a trans, who is a condition.
Transexuality is not a mental illness, it's having a brain from one gender connected to a a set of genitl and gendered endocrine glands of the opposite gender, which result usually in sever depression. It's not a mental illness just like Depression isn't a mental illness. The Therapy consist of hormonal injections, which balance back the hormone the brain is actually expecting.
Just because I identify as an owlbear doesn't make me an owlbear.
>it's having a brain from one gender connected to a a set of genitl and gendered endocrine glands of the opposite gender
>Major Depressive Disorder isn't a mental illness
>trannies attempt neurology
They are using videogame as a cheap movie maker tool, thats it. Movie and videogame doesn't cause any kind of violence.
Just like sexy women in tv and Videogames don't create misogynists.
It's just an easy scapegoat for people who refuse to actually look at a complex situation with complex cause.
I really like it.
>Crossdressing is a fetish
See this is where I know you are a retard, because it can be: A gag, a habby, a lifestyle, or a fetish. Doesn't mean its all those things all the time.
>Depression isn't a mental illness
look at this bad asses typin it up behind the keyboard like they were big men or something.
like i said, regardless of your shitter logic your still pretty emotionally weak if your that insecure about pithy little hints of maybe being trans maybe not being. you dont know nor will you ever you dopey cunts
how fucking reactionary are you clods?
lol if you don't think media has a psychological affect on the people exposed to it (including the both of us btw) you're pretty naive
>They are using videogame as a cheap movie maker tool, thats it
really misinformed tbqh
>Just because I identify as an owlbear doesn't make me an owlbear.
Indeed, as it is impossible fro a human to develop the brain of an imaginary animal.
It has been proven, on the other hand, through peer review that
1. the brain is a gendered organ
2. Brain scan show that trans have developed brain of the opposite gender.
>>Major Depressive Disorder isn't a mental illness
Depression isn't classified as a mental illness. I am not the one making the rule. Mental illness has a very clear definition, and neither depression nor being a trans fit in.
>>trannies attempt neurology
The gender of the brain is a whole field of neurology. Look it up, it's quite interesting.
>media has a psychological affect on the people exposed to it (including the both of us btw) you're pretty naive
New organisation can have an impact. Work of fiction doesn't. Precisely because the audience know that it is fiction. and treat it as such.
It's like summer never left
>the brain is a gendered orgran
>MDD isn't a mental illness
I've seen some retards on /co/, but goddamn if only the worst of them would come from the SU fandom.
I still have to get around to watching it sometime. Animation looks pretty neat. Are all the seasons solid or is there a point where it peaked and went downhill like most shows?
>>the brain is a gendered orgran
>>MDD isn't a mental illness
>I've seen some retards on /co/, but goddamn if only the worst of them would come from the SU fandom.
Yes, the brain is gendered, this is a scientific, peer-reviewed fact. And Depression isn't classified as a mental illness. Schizophrenia is.
>Are all the seasons solid or is there a point where it peaked and went downhill like most shows?
it just keeps getting better honestly
mostly thanks to them finally introducing a gem that isn't a garbage rock
does my typing bother u? maybe u should go back to le reddit maybe?
I am looking at it objectively. An nothing has ever related violence with videogame.
Fuck, it doesn't even correlate. you can make no pattern between access to videogames in countries and their crimerate.
>this is a scientific, peer-reviewed fact.
Uh huh. You might want to look more into that and maybe check out sources that don't sexually identify as potato.
>And Depression isn't classified as a mental illness. Schizophrenia is.
And read a psych book while you're at it.
>Imply blanket statements aren't exclusionary
Yes and no. Gaia was dumb wapanese/weeaboos (although now this apparently acceptable here thanks to the otakool plague infecting /a/ and /v/) who think they found the home for their "type", while tumblr is a collection of special snowflakes who think they're all the chosen one.
Same thing but different.
Peridot is literally the worst character in the show, and the latest episodes (specifically those centered around her) were difficult to watch.
I'd honestly take some Amythyst episodes over that green piece of blatant comic relief.
It's just now occurred to me that /co/ is actually easier to trigger than tumblr. I mean I get if people thing Steven Universe is Progressive SJW garbage, but I don't get why any thread even loosely SU based ends up people arguing politics.
I don't give a shit about crossdressing, or trans people, or lesbians, or any of that shit. If it triggers you, Fine. If it doesn't, Cool. But being assblasted about it because you do or don't like it is a waste of everyone time. Jesus christ.
You all know damn well you're not gonna change each other's minds.
Every source. say that there are physiological differences between a male and female brain, as well as different tendency of brain activity.
As for depression, it's classified as a disorder, not a disease.
are we back to talking about gem facts?
where do we start?
the best part is that you can buy in bulk when it comes to her.
if the sounds get to be a little too much just turn up the radio.
It's not my place to convince you that there's something wrong with pumping and dumping random people like a pleasure-seeking sociopath. Perhaps one day he'll realize that myopic, self-focused instant gratification is the cause of distrust and cruelty between people, and that hedonism degrades the relationships between people, encouraging attachment to transient, material pleasures that ultimately leave both the individual and the society of which he is a part a sense only of pervasive emptiness and loneliness. Casual sex is consumer culture played out on the interpersonal scale.
>getting annoyed by pretentiousness
>using SU as an example
I don't know what this is called, but I'm savoring it all the same.
Oh Jimmy, give us this day our daily kek.
Those Wander Over Yonder fans who ship Wander and Hater are the worst. Not only do they think their ship is true, they also get extremely butthurt whenever it's tampered with in any way.
When an episode aired that had Wander fooling Hater into making a big wedding-like celebration for Wander and Sylvia's death, rabid fans attacked the staff on Tumblr for "making fun of their ship". They did it again when they gave Hater a love interest that wasn't Wander in a later episode.
You tell those slut-shaming shitlords! If you only have sex with your wife or husband, that means you just don't like sex!
Gender is a result of genes, which gems do not have.
Gem ages are an illusion because they don't have biological cells, they can look as young or as old as they like. In that case it was mainly the clothes, though.
Those who live and die by the shippers are doomed to repeat them, or something.
Dear god, it's just people enjoying sex. The important part is to remain honest about it and not fool your parner in thinking there is more about it than that, yet allow your feeling to develop beyond the simple enjoyment of sex is some if you and your partner feel there could be more. (also wear protection)
It's no more wrong than enjoying an ice cream. The thing is, no matter what, sex remain a social interaction, a form of intimate communication. An as valid way to meet and enter in contact with new people as any other, as long as all is done in consensuality.
Just like every pleasure in this world, the problem fcome from excss, not from the practice itself.
Rose had a gender/sex because after extensive study
possibly dissectionsshe understood the human body enough to shapeshift herself into a moderately functioning human woman, with a functioning womb.
The only problem with that was that no matter what she did to supply the fetus with nutrients, no egg means no baby.
I'm not sure what the fuck Steven is.
Like...fuck man I don't know.
As a person who first heard about Steven Universe through /pol/, I went in expecting it to be bad (though not so overtly as /pol/ suggests.) While I do think that the views of the creators are represented in the show, I don't think that they are any more so than in most media. I really like SU for having such a positive message in general and it's a solidly written show with entertaining characters. Maybe there is some layer of acceptance agenda to it at some level, but it is a good show first and foremost.
My sole complaint is the not-so-subtle sexuality of fusion dances.
Well, they have shapeshifting powers apparently sophisticated enough to mimic biological processes, so presumably rose quartz could of chosen to get a human pregnant instead.
The aging thing can be explained by garnet, pearl, and amethyst relying on rose as a mother figure, so when rose died and they had to take care of a child they "mentally" grew up and chose new forms to represent that.
>not a petty mary sue with a personally of a bag of potatos
lapis the best gem also peridot before she got demoted.
>Well, they have shapeshifting powers apparently sophisticated enough to mimic biological processes, so presumably rose quartz could of chosen to get a human pregnant instead.
this implies they can make genes(protein)
and not incubate it. so this would make the gems functionally female.
who the fuck doesn't think that fat slut is a whore?
>to get a human pregnant instead
No, she couldn't have. Gems don't have DNA, for one. Second, Steven is basically just a clone of Greg that Rose incubated inside herself, then transferred her gem to.
He isn't so much a child of the two as he is a reincarnation of one into a squishy meat jacket.
>Lapisfags judging any other waifu's personality or lack thereof
that's a laff
Be patient, anon. There's plenty of GETS left to shit up.
desu, op, I always assumed that in the thousands of years on earth that Rose has been running around kicking ass, she's loved and boned her away across the globe.
Steven's existence isn't just a product of sex, it's something much more magical in nature. Rose can't get "pregnant" the same way that humans can. But she "did" and she "gave birth." The gem species is confusing and they do a pretty good job of not quite highlighting stuff like this (but why would they? no fan HAS to know what happens to all the food that Amethyst eats, for example)
Steven is a product of love. I think, from what we've seen, gems are all about emotions and love and trust. Steven's powers are activated by his emotions. Every little sensation for gems is cranked up to eleven.
And, ugh, I can't believe I'm having this conversation, but even if Rose has had sex before, just having sex isn't going to make a gem pregnant. And just being in love isn't either. Rose got pregnant because Rose wanted to get pregnant.
Oh christ january can't come fast enough
it feels like an eternity since the damn arc we were on was interrupted
we're literally four episodes from the mid-season finale
>Yellow Diamond's eyes always let off a disconcerting glow
>she's always wide-eyed and basically forces eye contact with whomever she's talking to
>she never blinks
Bitch freaks errybody out all the time. Spoopy like a ghost pumpkin full of skellingtons on Halloween.
>implying I have any idea how computers work
You're generalizing an entire fan are based on the acts of a few. I've been keeping up with the fandom and I didn't see anything about people blowing up over the Big Day. And a couple of people dropped the show when Dominator was introduced but the concensus from recent threads is that people were mad because she's less of a character and more of a plot device, not that their ship got sunk.
It's silly to generalize a fan base though.
1: When did "Word of God" contradict that?
2: Who cares what other people think? If they have their headcanon, let them. It's about your own experience. Listening to the experiences of others can inform your own, but only in as far as you let them.
Peridot and Amethyst are both pretty young gems, of course they're going to fumble every now and then and for comic relief. I like where they're taking Peri's character, but hopefully she can be less useless to the CGs soon.
Death of the Author means that the the work stands on its own and that arguments about authorial intent are pointless. The text exists independent of its authorship; readers are meant to consume the text without filtering it through the context of its author. ie; Authorfag says Book is about depression, but Book is widely recognized to be about the futility of the American Dream--no one gives a shit what the author insists on and they shouldn't, because the text exists independent of its creator.
Not really relevant here; people are arguing their interpretations of the text--Sucrose hasn't weighed in and even if she has, what she has to say should not influence how people experience the text itself.
To add to your point, another useful concept would be that of "tiers of canon" or "levels of canon". The source material, in this case the show itself, would be Tier 1 canon. Statements made by the show's staff and dubiously canon supplemental material would be Tier 2 canon. Discussions should be made within the confines of being on the same level of canon, so as to have everyone agree that their arguments only work for that canon.
>none of the Homeworld gems have ever cried before
It's about time already. I thought this show was about crying.
It's EXTREMELY strongly implied Rose has cavorted with other humans before Greg. She flat-out says she's "loved" other humans before, tells Greg he's awfully cute and she'd really like to "play" with him but she can't allow him to throw away his short life and dreams because he's with her (implying that someone else has spent their life romantically pining after Rose), sings very seductively about how she likes the way human beings play and how she likes "playing along", her tone of voice on the "oh yees" to Greg's "these last months have been great" is clearly seductive or insinuates sexual happenings, and most importantly the other Gems aren't surprised at all at the romantic developments between Rose and Greg. Pearl is just jealous, but not "what are you doing" shocked, she just says that Greg and their romance is just a phase, as if she's seen it before. Amethyst says that "this one is her favourite", to which Pearl replies "I think he's her favourite, too", again implying there's been romance before.
At this point, it's much more likely Rose has at some point over the millennia she's spent on earth gotten curious about the sex humans seem to be raving about, than not. Unless there's a direct statement saying otherwise, and there doesn't seem to be one
CN aired 27 new episodes in 2014 and 38 episodes in 2015. Taking us through the next 31 or so episodes until the end of season 2 next year seems like more than enough time for Steven to fuse with a gem at the pace the plot has been going.
I don't know, it would be really weird if Pearl was he first Gem that he fused with.
