Will Iron Fist be the one that finally cures Daredevil's moralfag loneliness?

Ask in one of the Jessica Jones threads that are actually talking about the show.
>>
>>77652152

You do realize that superheroes who have a hard-and-fast "no killing" rule that they stick too without exception are very much in the minority.

Even Batman and Superman make exceptions when they need to. And I say that as a huge moralfag when it comes to superheroes and heroic narratives, the fact is that sometimes the least worst decision a superhero could make in a scenario involves killing someone to ensure that greater evil or harm doesn't come about. Killing is still wrong, but like I said, sometimes it's the least worst option.

Jeph Loeb said that Iron Fist is still in development and nothing has changed. He claimed all of the rumors about troubled development was just the Internet making up theories and that the reason we haven't heard anything about it yet is because they were working on promoting Jessica Jones and Luke Cage first. The role of Iron Fist has likely already been cast.
>>
I like Matt because he is a moralfag. It's admirable and I like seeing those characters grapple with their morals in the pursuit of justice vs. characters without morals because I don't feel as invested in their struggles. Those are more interesting characters to me. Just not when it's idiotic naivete.

>Even Batman and Superman make exceptions when they need to.

Doesn't help when people make out that Superman and Batman will go off on the deep end, starting an unstoppable murder-spree. All because they killed the quintessential omnicidal maniac.

>>
the whole matt not killing thing is pretty bullshit, he literally set a man on fire intentionally and left him to burn to death

the whole narrative of him being unsure about killing is stupid when hes leaving a trail of bodies behind him. Like that guy he threw off the roof too, he didn't know if he would survive or not, he rolled the dice on it.
>>
>>77652221
He would've have half a dozen confrontations where he got his ass kicked, then figure out how to neutralize him and bring THE LAW.
>>
You know, it's a wonder how evil still exists in the MCU if they are continually killing off villains like this.
>>
>>77653482
True.
>>
>>77652261
That was weird that the show played up the no kill rule but killed him with no mention.

I guess the excuse is he was still alive when Matt last saw him.

That bugged me, along with Matt throwing the guy off the roof and only checking to see if he survived after RD asked him.
>>
>>77653442
To me, it felt like the writers weren't in sync with the no-killing thing. Like they only read broad outlines of episodes that weren't theirs.
>>
>>77653442
Lighting the ninja on fire was an accident! The ninja deflected his baton onto the lamp which sparked the gasoline coated on him.
>>
>>77653442
There's a difference between cold blooded murder and self defense.

The problem with killing Kingpin isn't just taking his life, it's that Matt fears the legal system is too corrupt and the only way to take care of Kingpin would be cold blooded murder.

Setting Nobu on fire in a fire he's clearly losing is an act of desperation and survival. If Nobu fell over and was just burning Matt would have put him out. Too bad Fisk showed up and let Nobu burn.

Now the throwing a guy off the roof? Yeah Matt tells Claire he didn't know if he'd live. He also had just said he likes torturing people. I think the line is just Daredevil using fear. By the end of the show we know he'd be able to aim the guy at the dumpster by smell. However I think he did want the guy dead. There is a difference between executing someone and letting chance (or god in matt's case) decide someone's fate. It's almost Two-Face levels of mental gymnastics, but that is the Catholic way of thinking.

tl;dr = Matt's catholic so his ideas about guilt and what counts as his actions vs god's are pretty fucked up
>>
>>77653442

Then afterwards Bullseye, paralyzed and limited to only being able to see... Daredevil blinds him.

People even question if he planned it and he doesn't contest it.

Honestly, his morality is limited to specific types of actions. It's very Catholic, in that sense.

>>
>>77652152
The difference between Jessica Jones and Dardevil is that Jessica doesn't hide who she is ans she actually faced the legal consequence of her action.

A lot of people seem to not understand that the major factor for the no-killing rule is the secret identity.

It's one thing to act where the system has failed and to hide your ID to protect the one close to you, but it means you can do basically what you want and to not suffer of the consequences. The No-killing rule is to ensure the use of the mask isn't abused. When you stray away from the consequences of your actions, when you don't face court for your questionable actions, you lose the legitimacy to remove any life. At least if you want to remain on the hero side.

Cops can kill, but they when they do not hide their identity and have to face a sever process (at least theoretically), whenever to use their gun.
>>
>>77659080
In DD: Yellow PM's powers are sight based. As shown here: >>77658858

Not sure how it is in other comics, though.
>>
>>77658174
He killed Gwen Stacy
>>
>>77652152
it's not mralfagginess. It's that he's a lawyer and tries not to be too illegal in his actions. it's strategic thinking, not morality.
>>
>>77657127
>but that is the Catholic way of thinking
It has nothing to do with that.

That's the normal mindset in our society. Killing someone to preserve your own life is self defense, while intentionally hunting someone down and killing them is murder.

That's just how the law is. If anything, he's more a lawyer than a Catholic.
>>
So Jessica refrained from killing Kilgrave because he probably told dozens of people to kill themselves if he died

Why was this not an issue in the final battle when she snapped his neck like nothing?
>>
>>77660551
>Why was this not an issue in the final battle when she snapped his neck like nothing?
It was an issue. She first wanted him to tell them all to stop before killing him.
>>
>>77660616
Yeah, but only the people there. His effective range was huge at the end, there could have been hundreds of people under his influence the moment he died
>>
>>77660637
If he had he would have taunted it in her face. there is no point in making such assurance for your own security and then not use it.
>>
>>77660678
Yeah, I guess I'm just wondering why he didn't do so when he made sure to do it when confronting Jessica in her apartment
>>
>>77660692
Maybe all this new juice in his brain made him think less coherently.

>>
>>77660551

>>
>>77660551

>>77652191

>>
>>77652423

>>77653442
there's no reason he would have let Nobu die, he would have captured and interrogated him like all the rest of Fisk's men that he beat. But then Fisk showed up with his lackeys and kicked Matt's ass, so he didn't have an opportunity to put Nobu out. You can't really count that as deliberate.
>>
>>77656332
>That bugged me, along with Matt throwing the guy off the roof and only checking to see if he survived after RD asked him.
if he wanted to kill him, he wouldn't have thrown him in the dumpster.

it's made explicitly clear through the show that he's still struggling with his morality. making questionable decisions isn't just in-character, it's a deliberate part of the narrative.

I mean, for one thing, his history with Jess will be gone, when I thought that was a neat little detail, but all of the heroes who are portrayed as the same age as him are either in a different studio (Iceman, Human Torch, etc.) or in their 30s.
