Pyrrha was not bad either, she kept the others at bay (and had that cool jump shield moment).
Ren was pretty much fucking useless, and so was Jaune.

That fight was really weird though. It felt like time wasn't actually passing at all.
Jaune'd yell an order at Ren to go towards the sniper, then we'd see what every other person individually was doing, and then Ren started running.

It felt like time wasn't actually passing during that battle. It just felt like a bunch of moments stitched together.
That's my main reason for why it sucked as well.

well, I think that House will nearly kill Neo with his treatment and gets retaliated by Roman by shooting House. Where both House and Neo have some sort of joint coma dream where they interact. And house becomes familiar and fond of Neo as House different and interesting people. In the end where they both wake up, Neo is finally cured by House's epiphany about some detail that Neo shared in the dream/coma. Then they end up having a 1-upping each other sort of friendship.

Then he relies on clear, competent orders rather than team names to coordinate Pyrrha and Ren as they fight Roy and Nolan while holds his own against Brawnz. They box the three in, and then Jaune gives Nora the signal to come in and do her shockwave attack to take them all out.

Why then, did they take a shitty route and everybody has to be a special snowflake with overpowered battles and one on one combat. Qrow vs Winter was dumb, the 4v4 battles are garbage.

Hopefully the other episodes aren't nearly as bad fight wise, everything else seems to be interesting, they spent too much time on the character designs and the 3d models, fights have suffered.

If somebody gets a full on slash from a blade, its just gonna knock them backwards right? What if someone got shot right in the eye or face? Just another knock back?
