Not nearly that much other than just being an influence on it being a space opera. I believe Lucas did want to just do a Flash Gordon adaptation very early on and wasn't able to do so.

The original film's primary influences are Kurosawa's "The Hidden Fortress" (a lot of story structure and a few characters are pretty much adapted into a space opera setting), The Dam Busters (particularly for the trench run) with quite a few dashes of Dune for flavour.

You should look into it more. Portman was a cunt to everyone, and made fellow child actors cry in TPM. Everyone hated her.

As for George, he IS a nice dude. It's common knowledge by now that he did ask quite a few industry friends to direct/write the movies, and they all turned him down, telling him he could do it on his own. (I think Spielberg actually helped out behind the scenes with some stuff but it was very minor and only a few friendly suggestions here and there) So don't give me that crap about him having a big ego. He has always, ALWAYS been humble about his poor writing skills.

The fact that he let the creators of TCW have so much freedom, and that he was willing to do this on a bigger scale by passing the torch over to Kathleen Kennedy/LSG/Disney is a very big thing.

And he got nothing from it either, he donated the $4 Billion to charity.

All he got out of it is escaping people like you who target him as some kind of boogeyeman who "raped your childhood".

In his book, he gave a shout out to people on twitter, stating that he wouldn't have gotten the job if it wasn't for them, leading people to believe that he only got hired because SJW's were pushing for him.

Then the book itself contains an absurd amount of homosexual characters. It felt like over half of the side characters were gay. At least one of the protagonists were too. I don't have a problem with this, except the execution was awful.

He also told people to "deal with it", referring to Nora, a female protagonist who was a woman, pulling the "it's 2015!" card. (Nora ended up being the worst character in the book kek)

Anyways, the book comes out and the EUFags on Facebook led a smear campaign against him, which was shitty of them, but his response was incredibly immature. He began ranting on his blog about how many of the reviewers were leaving bad reviews because of the homosexuals and nothing else.

The climax of this story, was when he searched for the Facebook of a reviewer (a legitimate one at that) and wrote about how the entire review was invalidated by the fact that the reviewer had a very conservative facebook.

Incredibly immature from the Author.

Oh and he also pulled the "you've ruined Star Wars for me, I wont even write any more books!" shit on twitter, days before it was announced that he is signed on to do two more.

Sinjir was the gay protagonist, but there was two gay couples as side characters, and small implications about other side characters possibly being bisexual or gay.

There was rumors about Rae Sloane and Wedge Antilles being gay too, but thankfully I think that was just some trolls exaggerating the situation. The only thing that came close to either of them being gay was the assistant lady (a Togruta I think) getting embarrassed when she see's Rae naked, but Rae doesn't seem to care or acknowledge any lewdness in the situation.

People posted his blog here when he was doing it. Not sure if he took the posts down or what, but her certainly did make those posts about reviewers being homophobes. (He said not all of them, but a lot of them were just targeting him because of that)

As for 4-5 characters, statistically, that's actually way more than there should have been, considering the amount of characters in the book.

That's why Aftermath is accused of being pandery, whereas Lords of the Sith was not.

My own personal criticism however, was the execution of Sinjir in particular. He completely destroyed the character of the Zabrak Bounty Hunter by making her attracted to him, just so he could reveal his sexuality. It was the most awkward and out of place thing I have ever read in a Star Wars book. There was no possible reason that Zabrak would ever have been attracted to a character like him. Wendig literally realized he needed a single female to use so that Sinjir could reveal his sexuality, and the Bounty Hunter was the only one. So rather think about why that would be shitty and not make sense at all, he did it.

Chuck Wendig is a bad and unprofessional writer, simple as that. Aftermath showed signs of being good. Hell, Wendig actually described it perfectly himself. He was going for a "what if World War Z was a Star Wars book" feel, and in theory, that's a great idea for the trilogy.

The problem is that he isn't good enough to execute it, as demonstrated by, well, the quality of the book.

His response on twitter and his blog was just unprofessional. People say Boyega responding to racists was unnecessary, but Wendig is making Boyega look like a pro when it comes to handling the criticism.

i have a question. how strong do you think heathcliff would be in the dark side? i once asked if he can defeat darkseid because darkseid is strong and nobody cant dodge the omega beam (only batman can but it doesnt count, omega beam always works) and people said he can so i want to know if he could defeat palpatine if he was a dark force user. i know nobody can dodge the force lightning (only luke can) and lightsabers and guards but heathcliff's strong too and i like think and i think he'll win. what do you guys think?

Look man, Wendig can't write gay characters for shit and is getting called out for writing wooden characters that are gay just for Progressive Points. You want a well thought out gay character that you sympathize with and want to see more of? Read LOTS and learn more about Moff Mors, now she's a great character that also happens to be a lesbian, and her sexuality isn't really important in the fact it's seen as normal and commonplace. Which, by the way, Wendig wants to forget that shit so he can soapbox on it. That's why he's getting called out, he's doing this shit, not because he cares, but the fact he wants to get attention for it. People know when they're being pandered to.

Then we randomly got swarmed by dozens of Jedi Starfighters in the middle of the match. It scared us so bad we doubled on AA defense made a massive army to attack. When we finally got to his base we discovered he had logged off hours ago.
>>
>>77626445
Not really, you can make Star Wars relevant to anything because it's so accessible. We should get our own board honestly.

That way the people who don't like Rebels, or wanna talk about the EU, wont have to fight for attention over it like they do here. We could all be in our own chosen threads. /tv/ could be contained to Sheev General.

/tv/ would Sheevpost and Dindu Nuffin, the whole thing into utter chaos. You've seen what happened to /tv/ when the first trailer came out, the entire board was clogged with shitposting. The same thing would happen to a Star Wars board and after weeks of it, and all the complaints about the shitposting, the mods there would get rid of it, but the damage would have been done. It only takes a few bad experiences on a new board to completely make it unworthy to post there. Case in point, /aco/. After the mess that happened there I still can't go there, same with /his/.

The rules for /aco/ were lax as well as strict and a /d/ mod shooed any western /d/ content, that was purely /d/ in nature, but wasn't eastern in origin on /aco/, while the no furry rules banned a lot of western waifus. But it allowed beast content but no xeno content for a time. It was a mess for those few weeks, and some anon here was banned for posting Clone Wars Ahsoka, while you could post her here, spoilered and edited without problem.

As for /his/, it turned into /pol/ 2.0. Which was a bummer, I liked talking about history, and it turned into shit in less than a day.

Anybody kinda worried the villains in VII won't be _____fun_____.

Asajj is one of if not my favorite character in the franchise and part of the reason was because she was so fun.

Maul didn't speak. Vader was robotic. Dooku is stuffy. Palpatine is chilling behind the scenes.

So to have a villain who was all over the place with her emotions. Screaming, flirting, wise cracking. It felt really fresh.

But so far we have Kylo, Hux and Phasma. The latter two look like stuffy military types. Not sure about Kylo. He's supposed to be a religious fanatic so he might be a little nutso. Just so hard with the mask. One can only hope.

The TFA ones seem like no fun allowed at all.

>>
>>77627057
Wasn't his fault, Sheev made him. I don't think it was a bad thing. We already saw a lot of Ventress, a highlight being her presense at the Battle of Kamino. It was a good time for her to spiral off on her own story. Her character development happened slowly over many episodes across 5 seasons. In fact, I kinda' see Ventress as a dark side underworld version of Ashoka.

The final arc of Season 5 shows that well.
>>
>>77627109

That's exactly what I THOUGHT was going to happen.

It just didn't really make sense considering he wanted to turn Obi to his side and turn on Palps.

So why he would just say fuck it and dump Asajj...and then go get a new apprentice never made sense.

Especially since the whole reason Palpatine made him ditch Asajj is because she was proving to be TOO competent.

Makes Dooku look like a poor sith desu because his master was afraid of him and instead of taking the initiative to strengthen the sith he backed off.
>>

>>
>>77627180
>They're all on Youtube
didn't know that, thanks.
>>
>>77627198
They're on the official Star Wars Youtube page
>>
>>77627154
Story-wise it can't really go anywhere, because by the time of ROTS they're both still on good terms and Dooku doesn't see his betrayal coming.

Dooku keeping Ventress around behind the scenes could only go so far, since logically she can't actually fulfill her role and help Dooku take down Sidious, and Sidious can't learn that Dooku is still training her in secret because then he looks like an idiot for keeping Dooku around even after this blatant betrayal and disobedience. So as interesting as having Dooku continue to train Ventress in the shadows would've been, that storyline wouldn't really have much room to grow.
>>
>>77620099
How many of these do you have?
>>
>>77627251
True, unless they doubled down on apprentice treachery and had Ventress try to use the Nightsisters to kill Dooku for more than just revenge. She's had a taste of Sheev and wants more. You'd more or less get the same sequence of events, just with a deeper relationship in the darkness with Dooku and Ventress.

I personally didn't like Ventresses development. I would have preferred she remain more or less a villain throughout the show until giving her an on-air death. Redemption's cozy and all, but it's another one of those times where she always seemed completely unrepentant about the murder and mayhem she caused up until that point.
>bounty hunter now, gonna forget the last four seasons ever happened

I'm exaggerating, but you know what I mean.

>>77627251

>>
>>77627404

>>
>>77627389
Few more actually.
>>
>>77627251
>>77627399

I think it would have been cool if since we know Sidious was recognizing Ventress' power, if she then went to him offering her services over Dooku's head.

Then we get a more believable reason for getting Ventress out of the picture without Dooku looking like a bitch.

And it'd also make for a pretty fucking kickass fight with Dooku and Ventress battling while Sidious watched on. Some RotJ Luke/Vader pottery.
>>
>>77627404
>Always been a shame that TCW has to work its way between the prequels.
They saved the PT imo. Fleshed out all the good ideas that were in the Prequels but were terribly explained or just plain confusing because they were pure exposition/world building and therefore not necessarily relevant to the movies themselves.
If Lucas had focused either on the politics of the war of Anakin's personal story they would have been much stronger.
So I'm glad they are where they are and they do what they do.
>Imagine what they could have done in a Post-RotJ era or the Old Republic.
By extension, due to how the Jedi Order is depicted and what it's failing are be indirectly get a glimpse of what the Old Republic should have been.
Tbh, I don't think Old Republic would have been very interesting. There's no frame of reference, just a setting to work with, which is good, but definitely not a good way to pull in a mainstream audience. And as I said, the PT made a lot of damage control necessary.
Post RotJ might have been interesting if they somewhat stuck with existing lore, like the new Jedi Order etc. Not sure if I would have enjoyed Luke as main character for a series though. Not nearly as interesting to watch Anakin's struggle imo.

I was kind of hoping the new sequel trilogy would be Luke rebuilding the Jedi Order while at the same time fixing the Jedi from the damage of the Clones. Between the Clone Wars and Galactic Civil War I would imagine the infrastructure would be a mess and it would be a great opportunity to expand and gain new members.

A lighter version of KOTOR 2 where the Jedi fix the Galaxy. I think it's far more interesting to see the aftermath of a war rather than being in one.

Nah, I take it back, they had some solid parts throughout. Still, with Portman's performance remaining a constant terrible, the last thing I'd want is more of her. More Anakin/Obiwan bromance, pls.

Yeah, the only Padme scenes I know of that were deleted were in AOTC and ROTS, which were all cut for pacing issues (and were all available in the DVD extras for both releases). The only source I've ever seen for Lucas cutting her scenes out of spite is a single book.

That would be a fine point... if she didn't enjoy the slaughter of living, breathing clones and Jedi, a few innocents here and there, the kidnapping and attempted murder of a newborn child, and an enforced gladiatorial death match of her slaves culminating in the torturous mutation of a monster pawn in her revenge scheme wherein he was forced to strangle his brother to death. Ventress has herself been up to some fucked up things over the first three seasons. She doesn't get a pass just because the CIS and Nightsisters are aggressively stylish. And I just don't remember her dwelling on any of it that much in seasons 4 and 5. It was just kind of a "yeah, forget all the suffering I put you guys through, I'm an anti-hero now".

The soundtracks have all been top tier, except for AOTC, which is just okay. It has good moments but most of it feels like Williams is on autopilot.

Supposedly he intentionally half-assed it because he was upset with the way Ben Burtt edited his score in Episode 1, but I've never seen an actual evidence that this was the case. Either way, Williams didn't seem to bring his A game for Episode 2.

Even most of the non-Williams EU music is at least passable if not nearly as stellar as the films themselves. The music is central to the franchises' power.

Also the droid invasion is my favorite from TPM. I'd say it's Duel of the Fates, but I'm too much of a hipster.

It is. Sadly it's really the only stand-out theme in the soundtrack, Williams usually gives two or three solid themes in each movie.

Also it feels weird for Dooku and the Separatists to not get their own theme (though the Separatists just recycling the Trade Federation theme is understandable), but Grievous does.

Yeah, I think Across the Stars and the Arena are the only standout parts of AotC.

Part of what I think lessens the confrontation with Dooku at the end is the utter lack of a definitive theme for it. I mean, it has a track for the scene, but it's barely even there while they fight in near-silence.
>Duel of the Fates convinced fans Maul had an actual character because his song was so amazing
>Battle of the Heroes made us ignore the overly drawn-out duel on Mustafar by making us want to hear more of the theme set to this over-the-top climax
>the Battle of Yavin is etched into your dreams any time you think of heroes facing impossible odds against evil
>the Imperial March. period.
>That creepy as fuck duel theme on Bespin for Luke finally confronting Vader. It's so god damn chilling and escalates everything about that fight.
>Into the Trap gets your blood pumping for the greatest space battle in cinematic history
>The orgasmic chant overpowering the scene of Luke defeating his father, tapping into his anger and pushing into the Dark Side as his story races towards its conclusion.

That's not all, but definitely the high points. It's a shame I never felt much for any track of AotC on the same level as any of those.

/tv/ is full of people who love to talk about Star Wars but dont actually like Star Wars or know shit about it, and get infuriated when you correct someone.

Want proof? Go to a Star Wars thread on /tv/, find someone spouting incorrect bullshit. Correct him, and wait for the autistic rage response you get.

I saw yesterday a thread where they were arguing about Jedi Robes, and when I pointed out that the Jedi wore robes at the end of RotJ, I got told that my "EU bullshit" doesn't count.

It's amazing how many Star Wars "fans" on the internet dont know shit about the movies.
>>
>>77632371
>I saw yesterday a thread where they were arguing about Jedi Robes, and when I pointed out that the Jedi wore robes at the end of RotJ, I got told that my "EU bullshit" doesn't count

Sounds about right. I mean, forget ROTJ even, Obi-Wan had distinct robes in ANH.
>>
>>77632432
That's where the arguement started.

Saying how "Lucas scrapped cool Jedi designs and made all the Jedi wear farmer clothes in the Prequels!!"

Which, if you pay attention, you'll clearly see all the Jedi have their own unique designs (some not even wearing robes or tunics)

And secondly, Yoda and Anakin wore robes in the OT.

So I don't know where that bullshit about Lucas making that decision for the prequels comes from. I'm guessing the Plinkett reviews, which /tv/ probably watches more than the actual movies.

Well he was going to originally make them wear armor similar to the Jedi in the Tales of the Jedi comics but ended up choosing the robes instead. Probably as not to hinder the lightsaber fights with clunky armor along with making it consistent with the OT.

>>
>>77632699
I dont care about Plinkett. It's his fanboys who claim to love Star Wars, but know nothing about it, that annoy me.

>>77632743
Makes sense. I know he toyed with a Samurai aesthetic too, which they're now using as the canon look for the Old Republic era instead, but it makes sense to keep the designs consistent to the OT. It's ridiculous to put the blame on the prequels for that. If you have to blame Lucas, then blame his decision to make the ghosts wear robes way back in RotJ.
>>
>>77632532
Third, Obi-Wan's supposed farmer robes had the now-familiar Jedi tabards, obi, and belt.
Fourth, almost every other character in Star Wars wears a tunics and/or robes, not just farmers. Even RLM mentions this.

>>77632699
Not mad at Plinkett, just agitated that people have come to worship his humorous reviews instead of taking them with a grain of salt as intended.

>>77632743
I also imagine he didn't want the Jedi to come off as too aggressive. Did /tv/ even pay attention to any of Yoda's teachings in ESB?
>>
>>77632875
>Did /tv/ even pay attention to any of Yoda's teachings in ESB
/tv/ doesnt pay attention to anything, they dont even watch movies. They just shitpost, create memes, and circlejerk over often underage actress's feet.

>>77630141
Yeah, there's not much to the Dooku duel, musically. Just some drums going, but no real orchestration. When Yoda shows up you get a triumphant version of his theme, but that's about it.

Also, the movie has a lot of repeated tracks. The Kamino arrival track gets used a few times on Geonosis for no apparent reason. Also, the "mystery theme" (it's heard throughout the movie but you'll probably recognize it for being pretty much the only thing playing whenever Dooku is with the other Separatist leaders) feels like the orchestra is bored and just waiting for something else to happen.
>>
>>77632745

Grievous's theme feels like it fits Dooku more. It has this aristocratic air to it that fits a guy who presents himself as a noble hero but is really a ruthless villain.

Get a program called Calibre (on your computer). Open a book in it. Right click on the book. Edit metadata. Edit metadata individually. Go to cover in the bottom middle side of the screen and click browse. Now choose a better cover that you downloaded from the internet. Change the name if you want (I personally name all my Star Wars books 'Star Wars: *name of book*' so I have a nice little section of Star Wars books in the middle of all my other books instead of them being all over the place). Press 'ok'. Now right click on the book again. Click convert. Convert individually. Now at the top of the screen where it says 'EPUB' click on that and in the drop down menu click 'MOBI'. Click 'ok' and it will convert it for a while. Now right click and click on 'open file location'. Then move the .mobi version of the file to your 'books' folder on your Kindle.

You mean in concept art? That just means it was another idea Lucas toyed with and abandoned, as he is wont to do. I don't understand how you can use an idea he scrapped as proof that the idea he went with is wrong when it makes perfect sense and is even backed up by what we see in the OT.

You don't have to like it (though I don't know why you wouldn't if you paid any attention to Yoda) but to pretend you know more than the creator when you haven't even scrutinized all the details is laughable.

Sure, plenty of the actual criticism is valid, and I agree with many of his overall points. But plenty of it is also nitpicking for humorous effect. Mike even says as much in the reviews themselves.

But the problem is most of the so-called Plinkett fans don't actually care about the legitimate criticism, they just parrot the nitpicky parts as if its gospel. Presumably to fit in I guess.

I don't get why Kallus is still there. Like, he commands some AT-ATs in one eisode and then he oversees a blockade in another and it happens the Ghost is also there. Small galaxy, I guess.

Anyway, you're right in a sense that his post doesn't have any substance and would thus have likely been ignored. But people are making a point that as long as you're not a dick we won't be dicks in return. And if you want to have a legitimate discussion, if you have something to say about WHY you don't like the prequels, people really don't give a shit and will probably engage with you. I have no problem conversing with someone who doesn't like the prequels as long as they're open-minded and willing to participate in some manner of serious discussion. But there's a big difference between:

>"I watched the prequels and thought they were pretty shoddy, can someone who likes them explain why?"

and

>"lol prequels are the worst cinematic abortions of all time you have to be 18 to post here kid desu senpai baka"

One of these encourages discussion and mutual exchange of ideas and opinions. One very clearly does not.

Well, apart from the usual criticisms concerning bad dialogue, stiff acting and the boring senate "debates", I really dislike how Lucas handled Anakin's personality and his fall to the dark side. He should have been a relatable good guy and honourable person who slowly changes over time and he should've already been introduced as an adult in episode I. The Anakin we've got was a whiny prick, so I didn't really care about his fall. I would even say that prequel Anakin was a worse person than OT Vader who basically just did his job. Anakin was also a complete idiot. No one would fall for Palpatine's obvious tricks.

Well I'm of the opinion that making Anakin's story anything other than a parallel (and frequently mirror) of Luke's would negate the point of going ahead with the prequels in the first place. If Anakin doesn't have some key differences from his son pertaining to his background and experiences then we're essentially just watching what we already know happens: Anakin was a good guy that became bad. Doesn't enhance the story of the OT very much if you ask me.

Pretending to be retarded is neither funny nor produces valid criticisms. >People seriously thinking socially retarded psychopath Anakin is better than fallen hero Anakin

The biggest problem with the prequels is that the fucking tone was everywhere. If you're making a pulpy space-opera film, you can't try and break convention and add tragic elements while still trying to keep an adventurous tone going at the same time.
>>
>>77646181

>>
>>77646456

What subtext?
>>
>>77646287
I'd say ANH had a similar "problem". Uncle Owen and aunt Beru had been murdered and then Luke never mentions them again and finally goes on an adventure like nothing happened.
>>
>>77645858
That's not what I meant. I would've written Anakin as some kind of (sympathetic) "Knight Templar" (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/KnightTemplar) character. Someone who is loyal to the republic and the Jedi, someone who desperately wants to save the galaxy and end the war, but who doesn't have any mercy for the villains and slowly becomes more of an extremist. Kinda like an anti hero. ROTS tried to characterize him as such a person, but it comes off as ridiculous after he killed a bunch of children, especially since he has always been portrayed as an asshole. You also need good and witty dialogue to make an anti hero or a villain sympathetic.
>>
>>77646504
Except that's literally how the heroes journey works. A tragedy befalls the hero that flings them into a challenge they must overcome.
>>
>>77646472
NOPE

Why do I know that?
>>
>>77646556
Yeah, but the flaw is that Luke never remembers the tragedy. In fact, his whole thing is that Vader killed Obi Wan "and his father"
>>
>>77646556

>>
>>77646482
All of the stuff with his mom, Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan, Palpatine, Padme, the Jedi, his age throughout the films (especially TPM), the contrasts with his son, and so on. There's a lot more to chew on and discuss there than "Anakin wasn't always heroic enough."

>>77646547
I would also say that he is portrayed this way in TCW. But the films only show the beginning and the end of the war. I would argue that slavishly portraying his heroic qualities is unnecessary since the point of the saga itself is that he's a bad guy and only his son can redeem him. It's more important that you understand why he's a bad guy and you tie it into all the themes of the OT, thus the prequels focus on these elements rather. It honestly is paying more reverence to the OT than some alternatives because it never tries to undermine Luke's story by making Anakin look better.

That doesn't mean George delivered on these ideas as well as he could have however.
>>
>>77646718
>That doesn't mean George delivered on these ideas as well as he could have however.
This is really the problem. His ideas on Anakin are actually pretty sound, he just fumbled the execution.
>>
>>77646718

>>

https://archive.is/OpWm8
>>
I think what many people mistake for Anakin being creepy is actually Lucas trying to make him seem obsessed with his love, but his writing doesn't portray that well.

Cons of the prequels:
>writing is shit
>aesthetics look really jarring and inconsistent with the OT (I know there's a reason for this, but still)
>they should have had a rule of 'if an actor interacts with it, it must be real'. So any characters or set pieces actors had to interact with couldn't be CGI and cause awkward acting in some spots
>the structure of the saga is weird. Episode 1's plot could have easily been the first 10 minutes of the movie showing the beginning of the clone wars, then episode 2 would have shown the clone wars being fought, then episode 3 would have stayed the same
>Anakin building C-3PO was retarded
>the lightsaber fights went a little too far at times
>Anakin killing younglings was weird to me. I think Vader would kill younglings, but I wouldn't think he would be fine with doing that on the first day of the job.
>Jar Jar in episode 1

Pros of the prequels:
>casting
>the plot. Most people overlook this or mistake it with the writing and call it shit, but for the most part Palpatine grooming Anakin since he was a boy and starting the Clone Wars as a way to overthrow the Republic and make the public think the Jedi are evil was great
>The worlds and aliens are great. Even the CGI aliens were cool even though they shouldn't have interacted with real actors
>The CGI in general was amazing for the time and the prequels basically created the techniques hollywood went on to use for CGI
>Finally seeing the Jedi in their prime and building off that tiny little scene from ANH where they talk about the senate to show the Republic was awesome
>Anakin's turn was somewhat believable even though him killing younglings was weird

Come on anon, he wasn't always a bad guy. He was a very emotionally disturbed young man that did some terrible things, and as Yoda said "Once you start down the dark path forever will it dominate your destiny."

>except when he was a retarded child

Well that's another wonderful point you've accidentally stumbled upon. In TPM Anakin is portrayed much the same as Luke is portrayed in ANH and it's apparent that pretty much all of the seemingly disparate events in TPM cause shockwaves that will affect his life in ways his innocent little brain cannot comprehend. So it was very much intentional.

Don't read too heavily into those stories Mr. Certain Point of View tells Luke. At the end of the day Darth Vader isn't a tragic hero that finally turns good again, he's a tragic father that finally stops the madness because he realizes that he can't bear to watch his own son die. The effect Anakin's supposed heroism has on the OT is basically nonexistant. People just get hung up on it because of Obi-Wan's stories.

And Anakin still displays plenty of heroic traits in the PT. People forget that hero does not necessarily mean perfect good guy.
>>
But was Anakin a good friend?

>I think what many people mistake for Anakin being creepy is actually Lucas trying to make him seem obsessed with his love, but his writing doesn't portray that well

Agreed.

>Anakin building C-3PO was retarded

It doesn't matter much to me. That's a tiny detail that people read too much into IMO. It's basically just a reason to have C3PO and R2 in all of the movies like Lucas always maintained he wanted. Not a big deal.

>the lightsaber fights went a little too far at times

Very much agreed. Faster and more intense is fine but there's no shortage of silly moments.

>Anakin killing younglings was weird to me. I think Vader would kill younglings, but I wouldn't think he would be fine with doing that on the first day of the job

Somewhat agreed, I just think it's the kind of thing that didn't really need to be brought up. But given Lucas' fascination with children and child psychology I can see why he wanted to touch on it. Another example of shoddy execution I suppose.

>the structure of the saga is weird. Episode 1's plot could have easily been the first 10 minutes of the movie showing the beginning of the clone wars, then episode 2 would have shown the clone wars being fought, then episode 3 would have stayed the same

I agree somewhat but I mostly disagree with your thoughts on episode 1. I fucking love the story for that movie, I just wish Lucas had found a way to convey it better to the audience.

You know what I would love? If in a comic or something you have some clones rationalizing things from TCW show as the Jedi taking another step towards overthrowing the Republic. Like have some clones that used to be part of Adi Gallia's unit in the Clone Wars remembering the events of the episode Nomad Droid. Basically Adi and her unit is imprisoned by Grevious and eventually R2 and C-3PO end up on Grevious' ship right as Plo Koon is saving everyone. I would love to see some clones post Order 66 saying stuff like "You know what I just thought of? Remember that time we were captured by Grevious with General Gallia? Remember when General Koon got us out of there? Those two droids General Skywalker always had around were walking around Grevious' ship when we were getting out of it. You would think he would have imprisoned them too wouldn't he?" "Yeah, and remember how he took her to the bridge and we had to stay back in the cages? I bet those traitors were working with Grevious the whole time. General Gallia was probably giving him intel from those droids." "Yeah. Makes you think twice about that time Commander Rex' algorithm 'accidentally' got into Confederate hands."

They need some villain, he could be a good one, if they just let him win a few times or at least lose in better ways. His story with Zeb needs to worked on more than once and his role in cleansing Lasan as well.

Does anything stop someone from stuffing people full of Midichlorians to make them artificially force-sensitive?
>>
>>77647600
>if they just let him win a few times or at least lose in better ways
Yeah, right now he's TCW's Grievous bad. But TCW at least tried to show Grievous' worth by throwing at him some redshirts from time to time.
>>
>>77648132
I don't know

I just pretend Midichlorians are just force radiation of some sort. Simply indicative of how much 'force' someone has.
>>
>>77648200
That's literally what they are.
>>
>>77648132
I think the force does. In the EU they tried to do that to Grevious but it didn't work. It's probably just force radiation like: >>77648200 says. That way you can still tell how in tune with the force someone is by testing their midichloreans, but it still isn't THE force like we were led to assume in Episode 1. Plus Lucas pretty much retconned them with TCW making the force mystical anyways.

J.J. about his use of lens flare for TFA: http://blogs.wsj.com/speakeasy/2015/11/22/j-j-abrams-wraps-final-mix-on-star-wars-the-force-awakens-flies-to-n-j/

>When the discussion turned to “Star Wars,” Abrams didn’t reveal anything new, which wasn’t surprising considering his and Disney’s plan to keep big spoilers under wraps before the movie’s release. Abrams did, however, say he followed through on his promise to tone down his use of lens flare for “The Force Awakens.”
>“The Force Awakens” will have some lens flare, but only when it’s unavoidable or necessary, Abrams said. “This is not the movie for that,” he said of his former trademark flourish. “These are not the flares you’re looking for.”

Say what you will about Abrams, but I really like that he is open to criticism. Most other film directors wouldn't be so reasonable.

Lucas's original backstory notes actually had 3PO being described as "reassembled by a child on a desert planet". He just decided to make it specifically Anakin.

Be glad he changed his mind on incorporating some of those other ancient story notes or we could have had "Raised by Wookies as a child" Han Solo on Kashyyyk in Episode 3.

Based Ivan has a few rule sets and Gruntz, though written with 15mm in mind can also work for 20mm iirc, and the rules have a unit builder. So for small scale skirmishes for up to 40 models that should have you covered.
I'm not sure, because I didn't get it yet, but there might even be a 'not star wars' supplement for five core.
