That would also work. What I was thinking with Liege Maximo is that his work with Cyberforming the worlds of the Cybertronian Empire, the cloning of all the bots for it. It reminded me a lot of the Insecticons. (Who naturally clone themselves, and cyberform things (like Cybertron itself in FoC, and Earth in Devastation).

This also fits in with the distinctly Arthropodic Predacon council, and Tarantulas, who were imagined to be descended from the Cybertronian Empire.

Plus, his Aligned Look reminds me of an insecticon. The horns are reminiscent of a locust. And the hooves are a common insecticon feature in Aligned (Both the FoC and Prime insecticons have it).

The others just can't compare.

When you look through the roster of characters, you can probably find a dozen or so guys who could be excellent lead characters...but invariably, they're gonna get compared to Optimus, so shit breaks down.

Case in point, a guy I personally always wanted to see as Autobot leader was Jazz. But then you just get people saying stuff like "Yeah, he'd make a good leader for a small landing party or something, but as leader of an army?"

Because we as fans put Optimus so high on a pedestal and when he died everyone threw a shit fit over it, Hasbro had to bring him back and now he's not allowed to stay dead or have another leader.

That's my main issue with IDW as a whole other than the Furman fembot thing, we can't have any other Prime that isn't Optimus be a nice good guy, competent leader and not be a corrupt piece of shit.

it's a shame because IDW Optimus suuuuuuucks balls. I'm a fan of Optimus Primal and Animated Optimus so the big grand infallible leader tends to not be my favourites and why I love Rodimus as a character.
