Well, he's obviously an Altmer, as evidenced by his innate superiority, his aura of regal majesty, sheer unbelievable arrogance and casual racism. And the fact that he's tall, and an elf, and everyone says he's an altmer.
As for skills, I think he's demonstrated his ability with long blades, unarmored, speechcraft, hand-to-hand, acrobatics, enchantment and conjuration. (Check all that exist in your game.) Altmer get a bonus to enchantment, and have good starting intelligence, so that doesn't necessarily need to be a class skill.
No standard classes really fit. If I had to pick one, I'd peg him as either an agent, an assassin or a bard. They're all missing skills, but that's what training and grinding are for.
>>
>>77622505
It is the magic of Kazerad.
>>
>>77623050
I'm not so sure about the speechcraft thing. Seeing as how he blew his cover with that epic rant. And since he referred to "slaughter everyone" as "plan A" he's probably not at all fond of things where he has to talk to people.
>>
>>77623050
He also mastered Illusion magic in 5 days if I remember right.
>>
>>77623050
Well in Morrowind you can make your own class anyway.
Looks like I've found a character to finally beat it with maybe. Provided I find a solution to sound glitches. That game always glitches with sound to me in some way, last time it just stopped playing any sounds at al.

His act was very convincing until the epic rant, though.
Plus, it was a GOOD rant. It had a nice flow to it. And just look at his stage presence. I've never seen a real person go on a furious, racist tirade HALF that good. No, we are clearly looking at the ravings of a master orator.
And although he's certainly very good at killing people, that doesn't mean he wouldn't also have a way with words.

>Maybe that's why the Oblivion crisis happened

He wouldn't launch a full-scale invasion over one little summoning. No, just look at every summoned weapon in Morrowind, and every summoning spell that had gained popularity by the time of Oblivion. Poor Dagon's Deadlands had become the cheap slut of conjuration.

It's easy to say he lost the Oblivion Crisis, but look at the conjured weapons in Skyrim. Who was the /real/ loser here? Probably Meridia or Azura or someone. Or maybe they're just made of the caster's own energy, since Skyrim combined Mysticism and Conjuration into one skill.

Whatver the case, Dagon clearly sent a message: Don't Dick With The D'.

>>77627761
>What about the pistol wand? It's cool and all, but if it is in lore I know nothing of it.

He made it himself for better aiming! If you look at the staves in Skyrim, the ones made in the Altmer aesthetic actually all have ergonomic grips and angled heads specifically designed to make them easier to use one-handed.

>>77626457
>So I guess that means Dodger is supposed to take place 20 years before the main comic.

>Aren't bound weapons just weak Daedra spirits that are twisted into weapon-like forms? Kind of like Daedric weapons, but weaker due to not having an Ebony frame to work with?

They're bound into weapon forms, but they aren't bound that way by the caster - they were already like that when they were summoned. Basically, it's how powerful daedra permanently "kill" weaker ones: they trap their soul and turn them into something inanimate. Conjuration involves grabbing something by the soul and pulling it into your plane of existence, so since these weapons have souls, they are fair game.

To quote one of the Morrowind devs, they are "bound for a fair portion of Eternity to sit an a dusty armory somewhere waiting to Serve a Lord.. or worse yet, a mortal wizard"

Basically, that dagger you summon is always sad.

guys, what are the actual imperial laws about slaves? what are they breaking exactly?
>>
>>77633742

I think an empire (technically) founded by revolting slaves would have a pretty dim view on the institution as a whole.

I am aware that the Alessian dynasty and the Septim dynasty are very far removed from each other, but a hatred and disdain of slavery is, I would imagine, a significant part of Cyrod culture.

I do, books are great. They give the author absolute narrative freedom when most other mediums require of him/her to include some dramatic elements.
In more approachable mediums, such as webcomics, most people can get into them provided they put up with the creators' bullshit. A book though, is in it's entirety the author's bullshit. That can turn some people away but those who stay receive an experience they love.

I'd totally read a book from you.

Aw, come on, you guys know me better than that. You've seen how much I make fun of people who spend ages working on their own super special fantasy settings that ultimately amount to, like, Star Wars with dragons. I don't think I could ever seriously get into worldbuilding the way other people do, just because I'm so used to making fun of it. I like making fun of it.

I've said this before, but I'm probably just going to stick to fanfiction and parody stuff. Like, I'd rather be known for a strange way of looking at things than for making a strange thing to look at.

There are many, many ways to do English poetry. You can essentially do almost anything and it will fall under one form or another.

The particular one we just "discussed" was called a limerick. Very simple. Great for children and dirty jokes. There isn't a strict limit on syllables - it's something you judge yourself.

More syllables, A rhyme
More syllables, A rhyme
Less syllables, B rhyme
Less syllables, B rhyme
More syllables, A rhyme

Example, just for you:

A limerick is easy to make
As easy as baking a cake
Just mix with a spoon
The end will come soon
How much effort could it really take?

This is of course absolute nonsense but I haven't slept in a long, long time.

bat

>>
>>77641304
There might be some obscure sort of poem that does that, but it's by the end of the syllable, which generally includes a consonant and vowel sound.

For example, "rag" and "pug" don't rhyme, and neither do "rag" and "rat", but "rag" and "stag" do.
>>
>>77641274

AFAIK, buccaneer (spelled it wrong, sorry) has a sort of stress on the first and third syllables. And yeah, it doesn't have to be perfect, just convincing. Tom Lehrer poked fun at that practice, which is more common in music, in his song, Folk Song Army, where he pairs "line" and "rhyme," then immediately corrects himself to "rhyne."
>>
>>77641445

>>
>>77641540
It's a sort of stress. English often lends itself to iambic, so while buccaneer actually only has a stress on the third syllable, the first one has a tiny one to contrast the second syllable. Honestly, I think it's just to help the words fit the meter.
>>
>>77641540

>>
>>77641594
In general, English is a "eh, close enough" language. So long as you don't do something major like fuck up the rhyming scheme, it's fine. Iambic pentameter is a dying art, anyway.
>>
>>77641652
Iambic pentameter is only useful when you're deviating from it

>>
>>77653742
I wouldn't say I had an epiphany about my own worldbuilding so much as he gave me an epiphany about fiction in general.

A friend and I went through this guy's poorly-drawn furry comic page-by-page, making fun of every little nuance. Things happened and he ended up seeing a log of the conversation, which led to us talking because he wanted to explain what he was going for with some of his writing decisions. He turned out to be the coolest creator I had ever met, and like the polar antithesis of every webcomic creator stereotype. Like, He wasn't upset by my critique or anything, he loved seeing my view, but he had an audience that had completely different tastes and preferences than me. It worked for him, and he liked what he did.

It left me asking myself some important questions about whether it was really necessary to make something people like me found respectable. Was it somehow more fun to make? Did people enjoy reading it more? As best as I could tell, the answer was just no. My entire concept of respectable writing was basically catering to a niche group of douchebags.

So now I write disconcertingly popular furry fanfiction about depression and alcoholism for an eight year old video game. Most of the people who make fun of me for it are webcomic artists who make, like, the 300-reader comic I would've made if I never spoke to the Harkovast guy.

The fundraiser is so that Kaz can start out his merchandise thing; you'll be able to ask for the other one when the store does open.
>>
>>77655724

To be honest, the cards. Whenever my friends gather, we usually go for a few hands of durak, and these cards would be an excellent conversation starter:

>yeah so these are the cards owned by a minor character in a webcomic about a sad cat
>they're waterproof
>yeah, because she's a lizard

And I actually HATE carrying shit in my hands like with a tote bag, BUT I absolutely am in love with that design. Like, I can see myself just jizzing into it. Because I love the design so much.

>>77655758
Good point. It's only $60, I spent more on Fallout...

Now it's gonna be weird...
>>
>>77655806
Dang, nice job then. I always found that tool finnicky.

>>77655823
First, don't jizz in bags. That's unsanitary.
Second, if you don't like carrying stuff in your hands with a tote bag, it's probably not a good idea to get. I don't like carrying stuff in my hands either, backpacks are more convenient for me because it leaves my hands free. Just go for the waterproof cards so you and your pals can barf all over them.

Or like the other anon said, $60 for both. But I wouldn't really call it worth it.
>>
>>77655274

People go nuts on world building because rich worlds fool you into thinking they automatically contain good stories, that you end up having to fill in with your own imagination while the actual content never meets that expectation. Like you are doing, actually.

I believe the key for a creator is to know exactly the expectations he creates with all those little additions and know to stop when they deviate from his main objective. Like, i wouldn't introduce an intrincate caste system among the wandering spirits of a lost empire if we're only ever going to meet their equivalent of Casper the friendly ghost. The creative effort has to follow the narrative and not the other way around.
>>
>>77655886

I love the design. Like, I'd get a hoodie/t-shirt/tank with that logo in a heartbeat (HINT HINT KAZ).

I just love the idea in a fantasy setting of having a "source code" for the Universe.
>>
>>77655961
I think that a hoodie would work great with the tote design.
>>
>>77655438
>Sounds like you were just an asshole.

Well, yeah. Not to shift blame away from myself for it or anything, but I think it's kind of an expectation we put on artists in general. Like, a lot of them (us?) are heavily encouraged to chase this sort of "well-respected and informed professional" ideal, where you're better than "ordinary" readers because you can dislike things they enjoy. Eventually though you realize that this just means you're out-of-touch with audiences and becoming a person who makes art for other elitist artists.

I think it's where the whole "starving artist" concept comes from. It's a bunch of people making art they all agree with one another is very good, but which only really has appeal to them.

>>77655765
You're always going to be pandering to someone. I figure the best thing you can do is make it someone you could see yourself getting along with. It's just called writing for an audience.

>>77655823
Hold off ordering for like a week. I'm getting a prototype of the bag so I can confirm how it holds up in a washing machine. If it's fine (which it should've, from what I've read), I'll let you know It's safe for your intended purposes.

Anyway be back in a bit, then I'll tweak like two lines on that guy's inking (though honestly the did a really good job, I was expecting scribbles!)

The only thing that should be limiting your writing options is your personal preference, anything else doesn't matter. If you think people will judge it harshly because of the opinions you have posted (which only a handful of people have read), you could just post it under a different name.
Everyone has a good story in them and I (and possibly others too) want to read it. You've made fun of cliches and tropes before but maybe it's time you used them too. Rename your elves dammit!

God, the Undead are WHY I've never won a game as Drakes. Like, what's even the point in spending a bunch of money on a super-high-health dragon if the other guy's weak ghosts only take damage like a tenth the time?

I was never good at the Undead myself because I always tried to use zombies. Like, I loved their concept so much, what with how you could theoretically make a huge army if you let your zombies get the finishing kills, but they were impossible to use. It was pretty much ghosts or nothing.

That was like 7 years ago, though. Maybe they rebalanced it a bit since then.

And no, I don't seek out things with lizard people in them. They're just a staple in a lot of indie stuff.

Regardless, Katia is still a witchhunter, and mysticism is governed by Intelligence, not Willpower. In fact magicka pool size is also covered by Intelligence, and she as an Atronach has a larger than normal sized one.
It makes sense to make her one of her main stats Intelligence.
>>
>>77662889
If you remember the various conversations that she can have with Aggy in [S]Extrapolate, she is smart. For one, she can learn new things very quickly, like stupid puzzles and languages. For two, she knows about Mysticism because of a book she read years ago but still remembers the title and can quote passages from it. Whatever way you slice it, she's no dummy.

No, they ARE elves
they come from the same Aldmeri stock that the Altmer, Falmer, Dwemer, Chimer, Ayleids, Maormer and Orsimer came from, but they came into the world a little bit different as they lost their spirit bodies, like the Khajiit. But they made a greenpact with Y'ffre instead of a moonpact or whatever with Azura so they became shapeshifting cannibal monstrosities instead of furries.

Rip Trinimac

>>77663068

Histories of the Aldmeric Races

>Altmer:
The descendants of the Aldmer, stayed in Summerset and became Elven Supremacist assholes, selectively breed to maintain an appearance close to the Aldmer. Have pretty awesome cities made entirely of poetry and magic. Tall.

>Falmer:
Moved to Skyrim, turned white, fought the Nords a bunch, driven out of Skyrim, enslaved and poisoned by the Dwemer into blind cannibal savages. Pretty cool when they're not eating you.

>Dwemer:
Moved to Morrowind/Skyrim, became autistic jerks and built giant mechanical underground cities. Nobody knows what they look like.
Left the world riding a giant mountain of Fuck You named Numidium, will return/have already returned during Landfall, broke time.

>Chimer:
Particularly devout Aldmer who moved to Morrowind, turned gold, were generally really awesome assholes, fought a bunch of wars, betrayed Azura and turned blue (now you have to call them Dunmer), blew up after the Oblivion Crisis because Vivec decided he was just done and left.

>Ayleids:
Moved to Cyrodiil, build the White-Gold, enslaved a shitton of humans, almost completely exterminated by Pelin-Al-Elessia and their armies in order to prevent some sort of apocalypse.

>Maormer:
they're fucking fish, nobody gives a shit about these losers

>Orsimer:
Chimer who worshipped Trinimac but he got punked so they turned into poo like their god.

>Bosmer:
Moved to Valenwood, made a pact with Y'ffre, turned brown, and built the Green-Sap which is many. Civilized cannibals. Good archers.

>Khajiit:
Made a pact with Azura during the Dawn and so have always been the way they are, but before that they were like the Bosmer. Actually elves but it's the best kept secret and the Khajiit are good at secrets.

I think that's everything? I guess you could count the Bretons but fuck them.

>>77664213
This one is well aware of the Words of Clan Mother Ahnissi. The Bosmer and the Khajiit were once a common people, both "torn between man and beast." And Y'ffer, being unsubtle took from that stock and made made elves. They are not very god elves though. As the Wild Hunt shows us, they are more like eldritch creatures with a thin paint of elvishness covering their true nature. Being not truly elves they can revert to their bestial nature quite easily.

Azurah, on the other paw, took from that population and made the Khajiit, not elves, in many forms. With each form having it's own purpose.

Me too... except i _was_ a bot, so... I had far less to complain about :)

Apparently Indiegogo is having problems with folk crawling through all the open campaigns and collecting statistics. Actually, been having that kind of a problem for a while now. Today they dropped in some pretty brutal anti-bot technology that even thwarts headless browsers like phantomJS.

So, for the moment, we'll be updating the comic progress manually until I get access to their API, which i just discovered they had.

MOTHER

FUCKING

BLANK VERSE, SCRUB.

This is the keystone of English poetry. It's popularised by Shakespeare, and can be described as someone nearly going all out on their poem and then saying fuck it at the last moment.

Traditionally it is written in Iambic Pentameter. The "iamb" bit means that every other syllable is stressed, starting with the unstressed one. The pentameter bit just means there's five couples of syllables, totalling ten.

It sounds like this:
>da DUM da DUM da DUM da DUM da DUM
or, in English
>When I do count the clock that tells the time

However, it does not rhyme at all (usually, these are all guidelines rather than rules). This gives the effect of a flowing script that rises and falls in a way very pleasing to the ear, but preserves the illusion of normal speech.

Shakespeare himself went full autist on the style. He'd mix it up with other metrical lines, such as throwing in feminine endings (where it ends on an unstressed syllable rather than a stressed one) or using enjambment. He'd give different characters different styles in order to convey their character, for example (although you can go too far down that route and end up like in Asimov's The Immortal Bard).

>>

/n/'s anon's main board. What could you seriously talk about there to so large an extent that it's your main board?
>>
>>77689709
>>77689743
No, "Argonian" is an umbrella turn for a bunch of different types of mutants, they all come from the same shit: lizards found in Black Marsh
>>
>>77691873
thrilling topics such as:
--criticizing how people get to work
--electric manchild toys like solowheels, hoverboards, e-bikes, etc.
--spreading general misinformation about the role of bicycle seats in erectile dysfunction, incontinence, and impotence
--ragging on americans for being gasoline slaves

There's plenty to talk about.
>>
>>77691600

Because, as I can tell you as a writer, most people are idiots are critique. They'll focus on stuff that they like or dislike personally, they'll give you advice that's incorrect, and then, they'll either lose the forest for the trees, or vice versa.

Case in point: myself. I write shitty AiE fanfics. I posted my first one and got crtique. The first person didn't like the fact that I decided to do vampires as a thing. Which was the whole point. Another point got fixated on the fact that I used the Oxford comma. Another dude got really upset by the fact that I deviated from the show canon. Etc. The only good critique that I got was when I decided to ask my writer friend to check it out. She looked at it, pointed out the flaws, pointed out the internal inconsistencies, some minor grammatical nitpicks, and that's it. And even then, she still judged me on the subject matter. So yeah - finding someone who is willing to critique impartially is difficult.

>>
>>77694138

>>77639337
>>
>>77692829
>critique impartially
What you're actually looking for is an editor. You know, someone who looks over your work and points out technical errors. That's not the same as a critic. Editors are often paid professionals, and you should consider yourself very lucky if you find someone who'll proofread your work for free and consistently give you useful advice.

Critique, on the other hand, is what you ask for when you want to know what your audience wants. Like, if everyone is calling your shitty vampire fanfic shit for having vampires, that just means that they're not into vampires. They're not going to be part of your audience, if you keep doing vampires. If you dropped the vampires, they'd like your stuff more.
You obviously don't have to agree with them. Maybe you like your vampires, and don't care how small your audience is. Maybe you already have your audience, who just love your non-canon vampires and Oxford commas. It's silly to blame readers for not liking your stuff, though. It's not like they're deliberately trying to insult you. They're just pointing out what they see as problems in the way of them enjoying the story properly. Telling you how to direct your fanfics to them, should you choose to do so. If you don't want their misplaced help, that's fine, but there's no point in being rude about it.
>>
>>77688164

That's because Kaz likes lizard feet and he's biased against Katia's lemon drop toes.
>>
What's even the point of having a lock, if you don't have a key? That's the whole point of locks. To act as an authentication mechanism.
An authorized person will carry a key fitted to the lock mechanism. The locksmith only gives the keys to trusted parties, who are meant to be able to open the lock. Unauthorized persons will have no keys, and will be unable to open the lock.
If you don't have a key, and just open the lock with spells or picks, it's just a crude test. You must be this dexterous/magical to pass. There's no way to differentiate between trusted and non-trusted parties. It's like protecting a temple entrance with a sliding block puzzle. Or encrypting a message without giving the recipient the key, trusting them to be clever enough to crack the code.
It works on the slaves, because none of them have the tools or magicka to try to crack the puzzle, but any mechanism only reachable from the outside would be just as good. Better, actually, since you wouldn't have to worry about having enough expensive antimagickal slave bracers for all your slaves, or a slave smuggling a single lockpick inside. Why use a lock, that presumably did have a key some time in the past?
>>
>>77685683
Well bisexuals exist, and a lot of gay peeps are forced into the closet. I'm bi and I'm sure I wasn't added to any stats. I believe more people are open to new sexual experiences more these days as well.
>>
>>77694937
That place used to be a general store, so the cage was likely already there to safeguard the good shit. It's not too much of a stretch of the imagination to assume the slavers didn't get hold of they key when they set up shop. So they make due by having to pick it every time they need to open it.

Yeah, it's not very secure or efficient, as evident by the closet full of bones of slaves that tried to escape. But you make due with what you have.
>>
>>77685709
That just sounds like someone got a bad blowjob and attributed it to the gender of the giver and not their level of experience.
