DC will never let the character shine, he'll always be second-fiddle to supes. In the marvel universe that never had a supes analogue (despite sentry/blue marvel retcons) he would be able to stand out. and lets face it, marvel is desperate to have a supes-equivalent.

That's not what MCU stands for. MCU stands for Marvel Cinematic Universe and refers specifically to movies set in the Marvel Studios/Marvel Television universe. Marvel's comic universe is referred to as just the Marvel Universe or 616.

I actually had cancer when I was 13, and it's surprising that in the face of death how much you care about trying to escape chemotherapy by engrossing yourself in fictional shit.

I was a pretty huge naruto fan too, and if I didn't use my make a wish wish on a huge TV (In hindsight I should have gotten something else but I wasn't exactly lucid) I probably would have done something like that.

There's a reason for that. Here's a history lesson:
When Captain Marvel was being published by Fawcett Comics he outsold Superman. While DC was trying to make Superman more grounded and dramatic, Fawcett made Captain Marvel all zany silver-age wackiness and DC just couldn't win their fans back. So they sued Fawcett Comics for trademark infringement. It came out that the Fawcett staff had told creators to make a 'superman-like character' so DC got a Cease and Desist order on Fawcett and they had to stop publishing Captain Marvel. Then, when Fawcett Comics went bankrupt, DC bought the rights to Captain Marvel to make sure he never again outshines Superman.
