I'm officially done with this book.
It's fucked beyond any redemption.
At this point, the only thing they can do to save it is do a hard reboot.
Make the entire thing up to this point a bad dream Flash or Green Lantern has, and they're still at the end of Robinson's run.
Daniel Wilson has no idea on how to write this book.
For one, it's falling to the same problem that most other worlds that aren't the main one do, being that the author wants to do his best Godzilla impersonation and destroy everything he can and kill every important character he can get away with.
Because it's "not the real earth, it's an alternate".
It started going downhill on Worlds' End
I know it's pointless of a reboot to do same things it did before, but it's just tasteless to turn well known heroes into villains "just because". Also, Earth-2 fails in world building. This book had so many writers I can't even summarize a premise for it.
>being that the author wants to do his best Godzilla impersonation and destroy everything he can and kill every important character he can get away with.
>but it's just tasteless to turn well known heroes into villains "just because"
But that is not a actual storytelling or writing flaw, its just something you personally don't enjoy, what is factually incompetent about the writing?
I agree with that, I will not say wilson is a shit writer unles he release his on work in spring, but still I don't think he is a genius or he should write cape comic(fialkov and tinyon has the same problem, maybe a vertigo character with few continuity would work
>factually incompetent about the writing?
For one they couldn't keep anything straight during World's End.
Is Dick's son named Johnny or Tommy?
How fucking many times did Flash run back to his mommy?
What was the fucking point of the Constantine crossover?
Allan's boyfriend is dead. Except no he's not, he's the Avatar of the White, which is air appearantly.
And then he and the rest of the avatars sacrifice themselves so that Alan can become Capitan Planet. Except he's not gone, because "I'll always be with you".
And it's all fucking pointless, he couldn't even match OC Val Zod.
Who got over his agoraphobia after a few deep breaths, a speech form Lois and a bot of sunlight.
And Superman's alive, just so Wilson can have him give Kara his shield and Val his blessing and kill him again.
And Jimmy's a New God now because he merged with Dr. Fate's helmet which was a Mother Box.
And so much more. I haven't even been hate reading this, except for a bit during World's End. I've been thinking "Maybe it'll get better".
But no. Fuck Wilson, and fuck who ever decided to give him the book, and fuck whatever editor decided World's End was a good idea.
Is the bad, incompetent characterization (even ignoring the not muh JSA stuff) that doesn't keep characters consistent from early Earth 2 or even from World's End a good enough reason? There are many extremely lazy characterization shortcuts going on to move characters into roles Wilson needed they be in to serve the plot whether those moves made any sense or not (and most of them don't)
Also the LOST style plotting structure I'd completely pointless and needlessly complicated
The JSA mini was a standalone thing, he didn't have to compensate for being dealt an incredibly shitty starting point right off the bat
If he's only on E2S to get it to issue 12 so they can cancel it I would not be surprised at all
I did. There may be some faults regarding Wilson's characterization like Anons' have stated, but I thoroughly enjoyed this issue.
I honestly think /co/ doesn't like it when the lives of these characters are truly at stake, because it feels like there's actual, legitimate tension here, and that's very rare in a comic.
I forget, were Bat-Dad and Val-Zod introduced under him? I'm bad with names.
Because the only good thing then was the evil Superman who's name I've forgotten.
And that ended on a flat note.
Robot Lois I can give or take, the only issue I have with her is that it makes Cyclone tricky to introduce.
>I forget, were Bat-Dad and Val-Zod introduced under him? I'm bad with names.
Yeah, he created them. His fanboyism reached critical levels with Val as well.
you mean Bizarro
Bat-Dad was Robinson.
Stuff like Tyler buying Wayne was under Robinson, Red Bat was on Miraclo and Robinson getting annoyed at the twist getting spoiled via the figure. Red Bat being Bat Dad was always Robinsons intention and it seemed to be the only plot point he left Taylor.
Now as to Bat-Dads origin, thats a different story. For example Taylor never connected Bat-Dad to Apocalypse wich apparently was meant to be a thing
Best we can and could tell, there was a shift in editorial that brought on Mike Cotton, and even things like Murderbats was apparently half Robinson and half Editorial, and things got bad and Robinson just walked.
Considering that Nicola Scott basically told someone that she and Taylor later walked because they didn't want to do World's End, I'm going to blame it on a consistently shitty Editorial vision.
Robinson quit in a huff because DC promised him a sandbox that only he could play in, then gave Taylor a Red Batman book. His leaving threw a wrench in their plans so Taylor got Earth 2 instead.
DC gives Robinson is own sandbox via E2
Editorial cange leads to gay For Justice editor on E2
Editor wants a second book by Taylor purely about Bat-Dad
Robinson says no and walks
Taylor wraps is Bat-Dad book into E2 and commences SuperWank
I remember reading somewhere that Editorial wanted to actually blow up ALL the non-real world cities (like Opal and Star) in CfJ, and he had to fight that. CfJ was also originally intended as a more light-hearted multiversal romp chasing Prometheus.
Clearly, Shit Happened.
Remember that he fucked a Mother Box? he got crazy stupid hax powers out of it.
