They're seeds and invocations. Regardless if their origin is the supposed Illuminati, a non-corporeal intelligence or just a reflection of the suprarational which uses an artist without him being aware of it. Their purpose can be to remind the viewer of something he has known a long time ago and then forgotten, a recruitment tool or a helping hand.
