David Tennant confirms Purple Man is a rapist
Because I'd rather watch it at midnight for a couple of hours, go to sleep, and then pick it up again in the morning.
I'd rather stay up until 2 than stay up until 5 just to watch two episodes when they come out.
I assume this is bait
>that butthurt in the comment section
The amount of freakouts this character will cause will be entertaining as fuck.
Christ these people make great actors but there is no more obnoxious thing in the world than English / Irish / Scottish whatever the fucks giggling and flirting with each other. Fuck bantz.
How can it be rape if they always say yes?
Fangirl darling David Tennant playing a rapist. The amount of butthurt this will cause will be beautiful. Already I see cries of TRIGGERED echoing across tumblr. Some people will ship Purple Man and Jessica and SJWs will tell them to kill themselves. It's beautiful, it's beautiful!
As a GMT-er who needs to stay awake till 4am to catch the Flash and SHIELD threads on here, I welcome the change where these premiere at 8am for me, so I can just wake up and start watching it.
If they're already tearing themselves apart over "evil" pairings in Steven Universe and Gravity Falls I can't imagine what will happen when actual rape and awful shit happens in Alias.
>Crying because people accurately state MoS shit grimdark tone and how stupid it is to wash every character in that garbage.
>Using false equivalency on a character that SHOULD be grimdark (somewhat) to convince yourself that those people were wrong, because you damn sure aren't fooling anyone else.
I agree MoS was too grimdark, but rape doesn't belong in comics either.
Alan Moore was right, these are characters originally created for children that people are mishandling because they refuse to accept reality.
>Alan Moore was right, these are characters originally created for children that people are mishandling because they refuse to accept reality.
Alan Moore is a hypocrite and comics haven't been just for kids in a long time.
Hell, kids today have no interest in comics, they don't have the patience for anything outside of 30 second youtube videos. Aiming just at kids with comics is practically begging for death.
Alan Moore was talking about cape heroes like Batman and Superman, obviously not about comics in general. He's a comics writer and continues to be, and has generally written stuff for adults as opposed to just kids.
What, did you link to the right video? At no point during that does anyone use the word rape, or even talk about anything other than the fact that if he tells people to do something they have to do it.
Gotta love people
>murders/genocides/cannibalism/etc on TV are allowed
>the moment rape is mentioned not even seriously, everyone screams Bloody Mary
Wait, is /int/ spelling T*rks and K*rds like that is parodying tumblr?
>Former Doctor Who favourite David Tennant will be seen raping his wife in a horrific 70-second scene in The Politician’s Husband.
>David — playing Cabinet minister Aiden Hoynes in the BBC2 drama — takes out his jealousy over his politician partner’s soaring career in a graphic and sickening act.
This is how you know they're stupid, he's already played a straight-up rapist in 2013.
>When Miranda (Kate Ashfield) meets attractive and confident Brendan (David Tennant), a seemingly harmless fling ensues. But her attempt at breaking it off with him leads to a passionate web of lies, deception and death.
That was in 2005 though, ten years ago! That doesn't count!
It kinda is a wasted opportunity, though.
They're playing him as something inherently alien, someone who can't relate to ither people because he controls them. A purple man would be perfect for that creepy sense of isolation from humanity.
Instead he's Killgrave, which sounds like an edgy teens OC.
>"muh rape culture"
christ alive i hate these people, i really do.
this is interesting as fuck, and it adds depth to the chracter as well as instability, might even paint him in a sympathetic light light kingpin. Will love to see it.
It's like the "do these women love me for me, or my status/money/power?" question.
I hate this logic, I can see it by violent standards with an overhead threat, but if you were dumb enough to sleep with someone and then regretted it later....or WORSE you got drunk and regretted it later, you're an idiot and a terrible person.
Even worse if they decided they just wanted to fuck someone over later and just call rape to ruin thier lives. It's terribe.
Depends, I think proff x was a dick since I remmebr him always saying he wouldn't until he was invited in. That being said, I wouldn't mind unless he could see EVERYTHING. If there was a chance I could destroy the world, this guy could stop me, but he could also teach me to reign it in.
The biggest horror if your a good asshole with those powers is you cant turn it off
Lord knows of the things id do if i had that ability but i dont wana be a dick all the time-just when I'm horny or want something and id use protection i dont want babehs
Can he just order them to stop listening to him or what?
Sexual assault =/= rape. Stop with this mindset of being compelled to label every immoral sexual act "rape" in order to accent how bad it is. The fact that it is sexual assault should already clue you in that it's immoral.
>He certainly never penetrated her, but he did rape her. One of the first things we see him tell her to do is to strip naked, and that's rape.
Fuck off Tumblr
It's sexual harassment/abuse, but it's not rape.
The best analogy would he gave her a roofie and then gas lighted her for months on end, and then the Avengers didn't give her therapy.
Also, there's a lot of actual rape in comics.
Woods would have been excellent, never thought about him.
I thought Glenn Howerton could have pulled it off.
Byrne is a massive pedo, too, but one that's totally in denial. I don't know how he lasted so long in the industry.
No, creepy pedo. As in Superman making a porno with Big Barda or this. Or a 12 year old giving birth in his not-X-men book.
What do you mean? I don't see anything strange in the Kents, Batman, and Superman's daughter watching him give a 14 year old Lana Lang some tongue.
He said it was the same as acceptance for trannies.
I want a series that's called Purpleman Rapes the Marvel Universe.
>Kyle recounts being drugged and raped
>Batman doesn't care, only asks "are you finished?"
Jesus, Bruce can you stop fantasizing about beating up muggers for one second, your colleague was raped
Hey, it happens, we've all been there.
On one hand, it was an Elseworlds, so its not like this is canon.
On the other hand, it's still Superman making out with a teenage Lana Lang while his friends and family watch.
Maybe Batman is pissed he never thought of asking.
Yes, because Bryne used to sell books.
I don't think they reprinted Generations 2 and 3 for this reason, though.
Lost Girls was meant for adults and it's more about art and the meaning of life, like Promethea.
You could mention fish rape if you want to make a better point.
If you have a fanbase, you can literally put semen on a piece of paper and people will still buy it.
See Mark Millar and Jeph Loeb and Bendis.
Fuck off Hector .
For adults, yeah. Really it was just fap fiction he made with his wife that he decided to publish.
Moore never made a retarded "comics are just for kids" argument like that anon said, he totally misunderstood the point Moore made.
Dixon said we should have political stuff like gay relationships in comics and got blacklisted by DC.
Moore hates DC and said that you shouldn't inject depth into goofy characters made for ten years old, you should create new ones. Also, fuck off with that Watchmen/Killing Joke remake.
>Moore hates DC and said that you shouldn't inject depth into goofy characters made for ten years old, you should create new ones.
And yet he wrote sex fan fiction of Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland, and The Wizard of Oz.
So? He also did metacommentary fanfiction of Victorian superheroes. He loves to include ancient homages in all of his works. Fucking Rorscach talks like Herbie the Fat Fury.
>said that you shouldn't inject depth into goofy characters made for ten years old, you should create new ones.
No he didn't, he just said that the constant reuse of characters originally designed for children again and again over most of a century, treating them like they have this great significance and are adult entertainment is a bad idea and a waste of time. He has a point. Batman sells because it is Batman, not because of the quality of the comics, etc.
He is completely fine with reappropriation old characters for new uses, its what the Greeks did and he's made a career out of it, he just thinks that the deification of the Golden Age characters is bad and we should move past that.
I mean it all comes back to the one popular comic he made that he famously doesn't like much, The Killing Joke. For all the artistry in there, ultimately it just services the mythos and characters of The Joker and Batman, and says nothing about the human condition, etc, but just those characters. Cape comics are so fucking incestuous and inward looking, I can see why he completely disavowed it, though I disagree with his argument.
>Mfw everyone here called me an idiot for saying that the Purple Man is a rapist
He is absolutely a rapist. This can't even be argued. The sticking point is people claiming that he raped Jessica, which he didn't. He did shit that was arguably worse, but he never actually stuck it in.
But all those countless other women, he totally raped.
Melissa said she cast him for his none Dr Who stuff, where he was a creepy son of a bitch. I don't think she even watched his Dr Who stuff, he's a much better actor than that franchise deserved
>than that franchise deserved
Fuck you kindly, Doctor Who is a staple of british television and Sci Fi in general. He was strangely terrible in it though, it's strange because he is great in everything else.
I accept your criticism because we differ in opinion. I like hard sci-fi like Asimov, I don't like Dr Who style fantasy (I like fantasy as fantasy, not displayed as sci-fi). And the show has very little range usually, there are exceptions but usually it's shallow, so there was little place for Tennant to show his acting.
Torchwood >>>>>>> Dr Who
>And the show has very little range usually, there are exceptions but usually it's shallow
What in the cunting christ are you talking about, Doctor Who has ridiculous range, that is pretty much it's defining feature. A criticism would be that it spreads itself way too thin the way it does EVERYTHING.
I've only ever watched a dozen episodes, half of that were recommended to me. I never found that, but that could be because I picked the fan favorites that are in that specific theme. Regardeless, Tennant is perfect for Purple Man, fucking perfect
Could be so. Consider that the show has run for the most part of 50 years by now, with one 10 year break. There is a lot of stuff in there. The template is "The Doctor and his companions end up somewhere (in time and space) and get involved in something local and then sort shit out, but obviously that leaves a lot of room.
Agreed on tennant, he's so good at being creepy.
Torchwood >>>>>>> Dr Who I had to stop halfway through the first season it was so bad. I watched the third season at a friends recommendation and it was pretty good but the first season at least was trash
My biggest issue with that whole thing is that this woman was just raped by a Deep One, and her reaction to it approaching her with a new hard-on is "Eh, I'm not in the mood, how about a handy?" and not "Holy fuck! Stay away! Stay away!"
Hell, her partner was shot in the head before this whole scene, that woman should be an utter wreck.
Another reason why he's not purple is because of the makeup.
The amount of time it'll take to put on and time spent in it would be enough to drive a man insane. So practically it's not a good idea.
For a film, sure, they could do it. But a TV series and the amount of hours of the character, that would be a bit much.
