I'd like a full keikaku reveal, but I don't expect it to happen going by Alex's comments regarding Bill's motives in Sock Opera. Really, though, Bill is the perfect character to do it with.

Regular human characters like Light Yagami being able to anticipate every last move of their opponents is kind of stupid. No matter how intelligent they are, they've lived short lives with limited perspectives. Their experiences are so limited they shouldn't be able to predict the actions of people who are radically different from themselves.

But Bill's been around for thousands of lifespans, and he's presumably been able to make deals and access the Mindscape since humanity came to exist. Chaotic mindset or not, reckless attitude or not, by now Bill should be able to read most humans' motives like an open book.

Of course, if Bill were actually that smart, you'd run the risk of making it impossible to defeat him in a satisfying manner. In some ways it's better to have an incompetent villain defeated by his own mistakes than one who's so smart the only way he can be stopped is through an utterly implausible twist.

I agree that it gets to be difficult for the heroes to defeat him, though. I just like it when villains are defeated because the heroes do something amazing, and go above and beyond in competence, rather than the villain tripping over his or her own feet. Villains only exist to push the heroes and force them to grow and act so when the villain does themselves in, it feels cheap. That was my impression too. Her arc is basically "learning not to be terrible to the plebs", and NMM put her well on her way to becoming a better, braver person.

I see posts like >>77491980's, and I can't help but wonder what it is they were expecting, exactly. Aside from the usual Padippica shippers, that is.

Did they want Pacifica to join Mabel's group of friends? Or for her to start hanging around the Shack and become another Wendy or Soos? I guess that could have been okay, given enough episodes to develop, but I don't feel like her story is incomplete as is.

I don't think it was a popularity based decision, honestly. Alex has mentioned being surprised at how well Pacifica's redemption was received.

I'm not sure they sat down and plotted out her redemption linearly. Sometimes it helps to remember that most episodes are built around showcasing Dipper and Mabel's personalities first and foremost.

Golf War was more Mabel's opportunity to shine than Pacifica's. Initially, it was hard to tell whether Mabel was just naive about Pacifica's nastiness or if she was consciously trying to turn the other cheek. Irrational Treasure cleared that up, but she was still irritatingly passive in the face of Pacifica's bullying. But she finally loses her patience and gets serious with her in Golf War. It gave Mabel an opportunity to show a little more backbone, and also highlighted her ability to forgive and mend fences with even the unlikeliest candidates.

I figure after they wrote that, they were left with Pacifica hovering in a "not irredeemably awful but still inexplicably dickish" grey area. So they elaborated on her background in NMM to flesh her out better. But again, that episode was really all about Dipper, and exploring his reaction to being in a position of authority for once (which is something that pretty much never happens for the rest of the series).
