Anyone can be a critic. Being a good critic requires that your assessments be more based in reason than sentiment.

In a setting like Rick and Morty's, it is true that not everything gets explained, and in some ways that's part of the appeal. You're kinda swept up in the adventures, you see some of their adventures but aren't omniscient.

However, the idea that a character like Evil Morty coming back being "Pandering" is admittedly dumb. You have a character who obviously has grander ambitions, never got caught. and didn't get to accomplish his goals.

For the record, Roiland has said that he might return in season 3. Nothing set in stone, but not disqualified either.

The joke is the sheer absurdity in and of itself. R&M are full of jokes like that - the creators have said the definitive joke in the first episode is where Morty knocks over something containing a glob, and it grows into a person and disintegrates before his eyes as he's running, and all Rick says to calm him down is "Don't think about it!"

The show is FULL of stuff that'll never be expanded on because the multiverse is vast and infinite.

I'm not sure there is one, or that it matters. Jerry is the simply there for Morty to juxtapose with Rick. Jerry is the life lived ordinary, the slave who is happy because he doesn't know what he is. Morty will have to choose whether he will follow in his father's footsteps, or his grandfather's.

His entrance to the series involves him saying "Boom! Told you! In your face! He is ruining our child! Wait, what am I celebrating?", walking into his wife's place of work while she was in a surgery, being insecure about the possibility of his wife cheating and threatening to kill himself if it happens, and belittling his wife's career.

He's always been a bit of a shit, and if anything, him getting his structure upended a bit by Rick's presence in his life has made him have to be less outwardly dickish when he's being pathetic. We have yet to see how Jerry will be able to adjust to life on an alien-controlled world in the long term. He usually has a pretty traditional view of things, so even though he's got structure now, it may still take some getting used to.
