There you go.

>>Crystal Gems hate Greg and blame him for Rose's death
>Could someone please explain this to me? What the fuck did Greg do wrong?

The Gems aren't justified in thinking that, but they miss Rose and they think it's kind of his fault

He didn't actually do anything wrong
>>
>>70704410
I don't watch the show but blame can often be irrational.

Its not his fault but technically he was a participant in her dying so they would blame him for it.
>>
I thought I was looking at Wedding Cake toppers for a second.

If it wasn't for him she wouldn't have gotten pregnant and died

It's like an extreme variant of your friend not being able to hang out as much because of his new girlfriend.

And? It's not like he drugged her they clearly both consented.

they had sex, that's how.

in fact I'm surprised that sex could be implied so heavily in a show for children.

Do the gems even have parts for breeding?
>>

>What the fuck did Greg do wrong?

Nothing, really. It's grief manifesting as anger.
>>
>>70704583
Gems can Shapeshift, I guess she just gave herself reproductive organs?
>>
>>70704566
It's not about the pregnancy, it's about the result of the pregnancy.
She, technically, no longer exists. It's as if someone got your best friend, or hell even more than your best friend, pregnant, and then she died in the pregnancy. You start to blame the one who got her pregnant for her disappearance, and the child that came out of the pregnancy.
>>70704583
Rose shape-shifted herself a womb, that's canon.
>>
>>70704576
The creator of the show said the gems don't reproduce as we do.
>>
>>70704583
Their bodies are constructs capable of shape shifting. Not hard to make a vagina. The pregnancy is still a mystery
>>
>>70704649
Why don't they blame her then? She's knew what would happen.
>>
>>70704583
One of the producers of the show said that Rose shapeshifted the necessary bits on his Twitter
>>
>>70704673
They might? But she's gone, Greg is still there to blame
>>
>>70704649
so she decided to have a child knowing it would kill her? Like she didn't just knocked up, she committed some fucked up kinda suicide by baby?
>>
>>70704673
The Crystal Gems love Rose to much to blame her for anything.
>>
>>70704666
I wonder how many awkward nights passed until she got it right? You think the first time Greg looked down there and it's basically a billiard pocket of a divot?
>>
>>70704659
No, they have to essentially be injected into rocks, ala Kindergarten.. Steven is half human, which means the human DNA was passed on. Which means they had to have had sex. She wouldn't have just accidentally gotten pregnant any other way.
>>
>>70704410
Rose isn't alive to be angry at. People like to shift their anger onto tangible targets over intangible ones

they hate Greg but know that it's irrational so they try to go easy on him
they blame him for getting her pregnant and killing her but know it was her choice. Part of the reason the gems love Steven is because he is Rose and they know Steven needs his father so that helps them tolerate him.
it's like when your mad at someone and you know it's not their fault but you cant help but be mad, they try to be nice to him but the resentment runs deep.

They don't.
But gems are shapeshifters.
Ian JQ said that Rose shape-shifted herself a functioning uterus, and passed her gem and essence on to Steven.

Steven's gem being where is his belly button would be is no doubt intentional.
>>
>>70704576
>in fact I'm surprised that sex could be implied so heavily in a show for children.

How are they even implying it? By the fact that the girl is pregnant? Just having a pregnant girl be pregnant is probably the tamest, most G-rated possible way of implying she had sex.

Also Steven thinks the Gems also blame himself. It's a mess and it's irrational but it's because they're still hurting

Gems don't reproduce sexually.

From what we know, they're mass produced using rock formations.

they really don't though, everything that isn't fetish talk or gem OCs gets skipped over
>>
>>70704410
>>70704566

Rose was a very important person for the Gems, specially for the likes of Amethyst and Pearl. She risked everything for them and they stood loyal to her side for centuries.

But they don't /get/ humans, and in the likes of Pearl, do nothave any interest on them beyond protecting them because "Rose wanted to save them and they can't do it on their own".

Then this human starts to distance Rose for them, the one person they all felt really close with, and then Rose disappears because she and this human had a baby.

They don't really hate Greg, but rather his prescense reminds them that Rose is gone and that makes them troubled.

it's not suppose to be a rational disgust or that you have to be on the Gem's side. But that's what's make it feel more realistic, because in lfie soemtimes things you feel are not evry rational and are somewhat greedy or bias.
>>
This is feminist bullshit, which is a shame since i the art reminds me of Tartakovsky.
>>
I like to think that Rose sacrificed herself making baby because she tought that an half-human half-gem being is capable of things that the other 2 races can't do.A new and for something superior, form of being

What are you fucking serious? You tell them whatever you want. Pregnancy isn't a taboo topic. You just have to explain that it's something you can only do as an adult.

It's like one of the most natural things a human can do. Up there with shitting and pissing.

I imagine Garnet knew to some degree, because future vision, but she was also the second in command and the fact that she's far more supportive of Steven and Greg than the others.

Can't wait for them to explore Garnet's/Ruby's/Sapphire's relationship with Rose.
>>
>>70704728

This, to an extent. Crystal Gems always saw Rose with what could be described as literal worship. They all looked up to her and turned to her as a friend and colleague in their time of need. I guess it went to the point where they thought her to be flawless.
>>
>>70705340
I've been kind of worried about Pearl since it seems to now be implied that she ONLY cares about Rose and only accepts Earth/Steven because those are the things that Rose would want her to care about.

She is rational enough to know that it was Rose's decision and that it would insult Rose's memory to be angry at Steven or Greg. She knows protecting humanity was Rose's sole purpose on Earth.

It's just that sometimes she forgets herself from the pain of losing Rose.
>>
>>70705381
it's plausible. I could totally see Pearl as someone who follows Rose regardless of her ideals. Pearl is very obsessive and her personality is generally very obedient to authority and eager to please authority figures.
>>
>>70705340

It actually makes sense. Garnet could've foreseen what will happen, knew that Greg can't be blamed for it, and that's why she's most supportive towards Steven. Compared to Pearl who, while being very protective and sometimes overbearing towards Steven, seems to hold some level of resentment towards him and holds him responsible for Rose's disappearance.
Was it ever mentioned how Amethyst feels about Steven regarding "Rose is gone so that Steven may live" thing? I know she was close friends with Greg before Rose vanished.
>>
>>70705436
I still feel like prioritizing "this is what a dead person would want me to feel" over your own actual feelings and beliefs is an incredibly unstable mental state and it's all just a house of cards that has to collapse at some point. But we'll see, it is an idealistic kids show after all.
>>
>>70705490
>Was it ever mentioned how Amethyst feels about Steven regarding "Rose is gone so that Steven may live" thing?
I think Maximum Capacity covered that. She definitely resents Greg to some degree. So far it doesn't seem like she's blamed Steven though. She seems really upset that Steven saw her yelling at Greg about Rose.
>>
>>70705490
I don't think Amethyst's feelings have been brought up, but she seems to love Steven about as much as everyone else.

Since she;s one of the 'younger' gems I like to think she has a soft spot for Steven since he's a young gem too.
>>
>>70705540

>She definitely resents Greg to some degree
You mean she RESENTED him, until Steven lashed out at her for tormenting Greg. We don't know what happened off-screen with her and other gems, but the part where they clean up the garage and she hands those things to Greg implies they most likely rekindled their friendship.
>>
>>70705490
I can't imagine TOO good. On one hand she was probably less devoted to Rose than the others, but on the other hand I imagine Rose was someone she could confide in since her birth from Kindergarten likely would have made her an outcast from the rest of the rebel gems

Steven and Amethyst very very much written as being bother and sister.

Amethyst looked up to Rose in a manner as if Rose was her mother.
Both Amethyst and Steven are earth natives, unlike the other gems.
But their interactions are also very sibling like, where they rough house, joke around and typically enable each other.

But it's hard to tell how Amy feels about Steven himself, because she's like the most underdeveloped character in the main cast.

Don't be stupid, emotions are not logical.
If a persons dies as a result of another persons's actions, even if not on propose, or not even because of a mistake the person made, then the persons that get affected by the lose start resenting the culprit.. it's super normal

Think about it this way;

A train lost control and derails, but the driver is able to get it back on track, saving a lot of cars that would had been hit otherwise, killing the people on the train, the drivers of the cars, and whoever was near there, yet some kid ran away when he saw the train lost control, and he ended up in the rail when the trains get back on track. Had the train not returned to the rail the kid would be alive.

Was it the Kid's fault? Was it the drivers fault?
Neither, it was most likely an old broken rail, the driver is a hero if anything, and the kid just reacted as fast as he could... but the parents of that kid won't think "sure is good all that people were saved in exchange for only my son's life"

Logically speaking 1 life should be worth less than several.
Logically speaking the Driver saved a lot of people

Yet the family won't think of the driver as a hero at all, would they?

Remember this is an example to express human reactions are not derived from logical thinking, lets not go over the details of the example and rather just use the logic of this thought experiment on the matter at hand.

Jokes aside, Rose is kind of extreme. She seems obsessed with opposing the gem homeworld's imperialism to the point of glorifying everything else. >>
>>70706871

I've thought that Rose's misery would have been most acutely caused by the fact that she couldn't do anything to help the 'monster' gems. There are a lot of seemingly intact gem-monsters, so they're probably not all battle-broken gems.

My pet theory is that rose's job was gathering up organic life to feed a kindergarten. Something about earth life made it all go wrong. That made her take a long hard look at life on earth to try and figure out what was going on. Meanwhile the home-world gems were going to make the earth into a plantation that could feed the kindergartens. Rose has become invested in earth and rebels. She can save the earth from homeworld, but she can't save the gems from earth.

Steven is her last ditch attempt to try and fix the broken and corrupted gems. Maybe if he can unify earth and gem life in himself, he can find the solution to heal others. Steven: Literally Crystal Space Jesus.

"We believe in the one Rose, Almighty, immortal protector of earth, and in the one Steven the Son of Rose, gem of gem, very Rose of very Rose, begotten not made being of one substance with Rose... Who for us humans, and for our salvation, came down from space, and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the Virgin Greg, and was made man"

It's implied that she really wanted the babby.
Also, it's implicit that Rose technically still "lives" inside the gem on Steven's stomach the same way all gems do when they get "killed".

Basically she's taking a few decades vacation, having a son, and experiencing what it means to be human all at the same time. The series will almost undoubtedly end with a scenario that removes Steven's gem and brings his mom back while he gets to be a normal human boy, having fulfilled a great accomplishment of some sort in a way no gem alone could have.

Pretty sure she's just fat. She was fat in Pearl's hologram too.
Actually from a character design standpoint I feel her largeness works well as a visual motif for this huge venerated figure lurking in everyone's minds/past. Was a good call. Show'd be a bit boring if they reigned in their character design to make everyone conventionally attractive.

>Show'd be a bit boring if they reigned in their character design to make everyone conventionally attractive.
Why did you have to say that. This is fucking guaranteed replies from the anti-SJW-boogeymen shitposters. There is nothing conventionally attractive about any of the Gems except maybe Lapis.

Rose is just huge, she's probably really strong like Jasper.

>>70711252
The hand made sense, reconfigurable hands are a big part of Peridot's visuals.

What's stupid about this backstory? Rose made a decision, Greg feels guilt even though it was her choice, Gems unsurprisingly blame him a bit as people often blame others for a loved one's passing. It's surprisingly emotionally cognizant.

Amethyst clearly blames him, and the rest of the gems definitely don't like him.
>>
>>70709434

I feel like we might get Rose to sorta half-manifest at some point down the line. I imagine the Diamond Authority would view him as an abomination (Or want to get Rose out of him so they can put her on trial) and try to get Rose out of him using Gem Tech

We still don't know if Steven dying will result in the gem regenerating into Steven or Rose, if at all. There's too many unknowns here
>>
>>70711385
Future vision also can't predict the future, as she said. She's able to visualize the most likely outcome of certain actions and scenarios. I doubt steven being in that pod and attacking humans was remotely likely. Even if that was a probable outcome she saw, she would most likely dismiss it.
>>
Now, logistics of peepee in vagurba or no aside, the real question is what happens when Steven dies?
He probably can't just abandon the projection and retreat to the gem. He's at least that much human.
Now, if Steven dies, does Rose return?
It is her gem, her powers, after all. And since they factually ARE the gems as opposed to the malleable projected bodies, killing Steven could - if it does not for whatever reason destroy the gem - return Rose.
Which would be the ultimate tragedy. She could exist forever, and have one, but not share the same stretch of time.
>>
>>70711349
top fucking kek. watch the show
>>
>>70711492
The answer to your questions is the same:

We have no idea. It's basically speculation at this point because even though we know a lot about what happens to Gems when they're injured, Steven is nothing like any Gem that has ever existed.
>>
>>70711492
I think that Rose's "essence" is completely gone from the gem, outside of what little part of her remains. If Steven dies, he'll either just die or the gem will respawn a non-flesh version of him.

>>

I don't think that's true, partially because Steven contains all of Rose's powers.

Eugenics fuckery to the max.
We've seen Steven shit all over Gem tech thanks to his half-human physiology.
He can fuse with humans.

>>
The real question is could Rose have just made a regular human baby, no gem, but decided to pass on her powers instead?
>>
>>70711385
See, I'd agree with you, but then we got shit like Peridot's space orbs dropping down and Garnet only knowing about it when they drop. It HAS to operate on information she already knows, otherwise nothing would be unknown to her. She'd have an idea of what Peridot was when they first met her. She'd know that Jasper's freaky taser stick would one-shot her. She'd know that the Light Cannons wouldn't do anything to the space hand. And loads of other shit

Well the powers are in the gem so probably not.

Having a kid? Eh, maybe. If she became a biology expert and figured out how the whole process works. I feel like she went all "It's magic I ain't gotta explain shit" when she made Steven with her gem. Having a straight up normal baby would be way harder, if it's even possible
>>
>>70705784
I think Lion is more of a part of Steven more than anything, Lion is able to give Steven access to the inside of Roses gem.

Lion probably manifested because Steven's inability to master the use of his mothers gem because hes focused more on his human brain than his gem, Lion is does what Steven wants subconsciously but is disobedient when he isn't serious about it.
>>
>>70711492
If I had to guess, Rose would regenerate.

The logic I'm operating on is that she's basically hitching a ride on her own son, and when the fleshy part dies it goes back to just being Rose like before.
>>

Because it's all based around magic minerals that you have to mine the ground to get. If a Full Gem Galactic Empire hasn't figured out how to grow gems then I doubt Steven is going to figure out how to shoot out a load of Quartz from his dick.
>>
>>70711565
Well, he does retain her powers and even some personality traits. Down to the shield iconography.
The gem remains uncracked, so I would not assume Rose as the essence of the gem would have actually vanished.
I think some of the way her room reacted to Steven might be a kind of subtle influence of Rose's, observing and influencing in small ways.
And have you seen how he seemed to be drawn to things that were Rose's?
The lion, the scabbard. He does not do this consciously, but might be sometimes steered by mommy into some direction.

>>70711880
Now, the problem on the paternal side would be that it seems hard to determine at what point he could even pass on the gem, having no direct contact to the forming child.

>>
I think that if Steven's heart gets stabbed and his body dies, for example, his consciousness will retreat into the gem like he were in a coma. While he was out, his gem would shapeshift his body to fix his heart (we've already seen that it can seemingly create mass when he shape shifts, given how big he was in Cat Fingers). If his body were completely destroyed, he'd just have to make due with a projection body.

Yeah, for pure Gems. But Steven is special. He fused with a human who had no gem. He is so physiologically and biologically different than normal gems that their weapons don't work on him.

I mean everything we're saying here is speculation. We're both equally "correct" with our guesses. I choose to believe that Steven can be the progenitor of the new human/gem master race.

Nothing, really. Especially if you consider this:

>Rose has been living on earth for 1000s of years
>Sacrificed everything she knew to defend this planet
>Put all her energies in fighting off the homeworld
>What's left of her defense is but a fragment of what she started with
>Know she couldn't fight off another invasion if they really wanted the planet back
>Knows the humans are too weak to fight off the homeworld gems as well
>Too far gone to be able to apologize and return to the homeworld on any level
>Can't leave the world because she would give up on everything she fought for
>Deep inside may realize she made a mistake defending earth and is trapped
>Develops a resentment toward earth on some level
>Sees death as her only to escape
>Meets Greg
>Finds some solace in his carefree attitude
>Finally escapes her problems by sacrificing herself to create another life
>Thinks maybe this new life can find solutions to these problems that she could see, with all the regret she built over the millennia

Greg was just a way to escape her burdens and pass the buck.
>>
>>70712326
Steven isn't just a shell surrounding the gem. The gem is bound directly to his mind, which is why it shapeshifted him when he felt old. Whatever Rose did to birth Steven made the gem recognize him as it's "self" instead of her. I don't think that's something that would be undone just by killing him.
>>
>>70705490
I think Garnet understands the best because she's a fusion actually made from love. Along with being the most emotionally balanced of the three she does kind of exist so two other people don't at the same time in a roundabout way.

Amethyst probably resents Steven a little, but seems to have more of an issue with Greg and would probably be the most sympathetic of all of them about not choosing how you were born.

Pearl is probably the worst person to deal with this because of everything we see in Rose's Scabbard really.

I just see it as Rose being dumb and possibly having some really nifty schemes up her sleeve or something. It could be a flaw in herself, but not in her character I think.

Well he was a loser before he was with Rose too, and then he was a loser after. Sure he wasn't prepared to be a father, but he hasn't exactly stepped up to try as far as we've seen. He only does anything if Steven comes to him first.

And sure, he does try to help Steven along when Steven needs help, it still remains that a father shouldn't be passive up till the moment when their child decides they need something.

It's how my father was and its messed me up fiercely. I'll always admit he was a good man, but he was always so damned passive.
>>

He's a loving father and owns a business. The house attached to the temple, and all over Steven's food/toys, are probably paid for by him.

He knows that his Magic Space Son has weird Magic Space Shit and he knows that he's ill equipped to deal with it. One of the hardest decisions I feel he's ever had to make was having him live with the Crystal Gems. Lots of weird stuff will happen to Steven, and like it or not, they can best help him develop as a Gem and can keep him safe.

In order for Steven to be recognized as the person controlling the gem, I think she had to completely sever herself from the gem's powers. She's still inside the gem, but only Steven is able to access the powers of the gem now, which includes projection (hence why Rose "gave up her physical form"). When Steven dies, the gem will either recognize him as itself and let him retreat into it and project a new body, or he'll just die. If he dies, Rose still wouldn't regain the powers of the gem (because the gem considers Steven the bearer of its powers), so she'd be forced to exist as an immobile rock.

>I think you don't get Rose, if she is anything like everyone remembers her.

What she shows on the outside, doesn't necessarily reflect what's on the inside.

Think about it, what logical reason would she have to sacrifice herself when she's the strongest person to defend the earth?

Why, out of the 1000s of years interacting with humans, did she suddenly do a 180 and start a relationship with one?

Because she was tired of it all and wanted to escape.

Oh man you're b8ing me so hard right now. Where the fuck do you get that idea from? It's canon that he raised Steven until some point where the gems decided he needed to be raised with them. It's most likely true that he pays for EVERYTHING for steven because we all know the Gems don't make/need money.

Greg is living in a fucking Van to pay for his son so don't you try to say he isn't stepping up.

Well we may get some new insight on this in the future. But for now, it's all guessing.

I really hope they give us a good reason. Because if she just up and decided to die for the love of Greg, then Rose goes down many respect pegs.

>The series will almost undoubtedly end with a scenario that removes Steven's gem and brings his mom back while he gets to be a normal human boy, having fulfilled a great accomplishment of some sort in a way no gem alone could hav
So that will have meant that Steven as a person actually did not matter and his life's purpose was only to serve as a vessel for his mom. That's fucked up on several levels.
>>
>>70712827
I think you forget that she somehow is the rock. So this could be just her suspending herself into a state of dormant consciousness to allow the existence of Steven as a person.
It could well be that she can regain control at any time, but doesn't because that would destroy Steven.
And maybe, when he gets older, there could be a kind of communication as he learns to do things consciously.

I'm basically arguing from the point of the more developable option.

> Well he was a loser before he was with Rose too, and then he was a loser after.

He was a chubby 20 something that wanted to be a rock star, I wouldn't call that a loser, more average for his age than anything.

> He only does anything if Steven comes to him first.

We don't always see who initiates contact though, some episodes start with them together already. Also, since Steven is the main character we're more likely to see his exploits as him going out to meet other people.

And I get you might have issues with your dad, but your dad probably didn't have a chick with serious issues regarding your birth killing her best friend/mom that could transform into your mom to fuck with your dad. The fact that Greg goes anywhere near the temple is kind of amazing really, hell he even pretends to be injured one episode specifically so he can spend more time with Steven there.
>>
>>70705340
Besides the future vision, I think Garnet handles better the idea of Rose being gone because she actually knows the feeling of loving someone so profoundly that you want to take that love to other extents, give it a new form. She thinks of steven as the "fusion" between Greg and Rose that was not made only by magic but also the simple power of their relation.

"there's no one or nothing like Steven" as she said.

>For all we know the Gems are going to pull a Adventure Time and have a giant stash of cash in their place.
No they fucking won't. Finn and Jake have loot from their dungeon spelunking. There is no gold and precious non-Gemkind-jewels in the places the Gems go. They have no human money or anything that they can realistically exchange for human money.
>>
>>70713090
They'd probably be able to make bank if they start selling some artifacts or something. And I can see princes and kings giving them boons as thanks for saving them from some gem creature.

>A deadbeat neckbeard
Guy has shown to own multiple properties, is great with music, art, and sound engineering, and does actually run a business. Consider that Steven is always just running around spending money on things and clearly has a lot of nice stuff too. If anything, Greg gives most of his money to his son, to say nothing of the fact that he's supportive and extremely understanding and caring of him.
And on top of he seems to be the nicest guy to pretty much everyone.

Cute as that is, remember that Garnet isn't simply a robot being piloted by rock lesbians. Fusions are their own beings with their own autonomy.

Actually, based on Sugilite, I'd say Ruby and Sapphire cease existing unless Garnet wants them around (like for the planned birthday defusion)
>>
>>70713225
So who's actually angry in that picture
>>
>>70713261
It's three separate images. One is a backround rip, the gems are anti-aliased as fuck, and grandpa has little white specks around his outline
>>
>>70713232
It's kind of paradoxical but isn't it kind of both, really? As far as fusions go I just think "Why not both" when it comes to questions about whether they're one or two people or if the two parts communicate or are just one chick.

The way I see it, they blend pretty evenly but they can sorta get "jossled" awake. Like Stevonnie was pretty stable using I and Me but then they start talking to themselves like they're separate

Plus Beach City is probably fairly tourist heavy, I'd expect he actually does a good turn, but we never see this because it's always from Steven's perspective

>This, to an extent. Crystal Gems always saw Rose with what could be described as literal worship. They all looked up to her and turned to her as a friend and colleague in their time of need. I guess it went to the point where they thought her to be flawless.
Could they be looking at her through Rose-tinted glasses?

perhaps this can help quantify some stuff for this discussion http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/FusionDance
>>
>>70713232
I don't think it's anything so binary as that.
If the song is any indicator, she does understand herself/themselves as the sum of two and the dialogue inbetween. Not one being, not two, but a (shared) experience.

So I would understand Garnet more as what comes of it when Ruby and Saphire work together than as a separate being.
You know that way two people who are great together work off of each other and noticably different from when they are separated?
I think that is what a fusion means. What you can do as a team.

And Garnet is the most awesome of teams. Absolutely stable. Never unable to work around differences.
Pearl and Amethyst are terrible together, hence Opal is nothing they like to do.
They have potential together, but they really need to focus to make things work.

>>70713495
I think the main point when fusions become unstable is disagreement. When the fused parties disagree, it falls apart, pulled into two different directions.
Until now, I would identify three states.

1. Separate. Two Gems.
2. Fused but plural. They need to coordinate and aren't really "feeling it".
3. Fused and singular. One mind, one purpose.

So, in a way, the fusion is itself the dance. As exemplified by Stevonnie destabilizing over a disagreement on the moves.
>>
>>70713904
I really wanna see more Opal. Alexandrite got more screen time then them
>>
>>70714021
Eh. That would take a severe kick to the ass of both. And they are really undisciplined, both.
Pearl may appear more controlled, but she is just driven to order and can't stop herself from spreading it around herself.

Maybe they should get some dancing lessons. Learn how to waltz instead of trying to reconcile twerking and ballet.
A dance with assigned roles might be what they need.
>>
>>70714021
Scheduling Aimee Mann might be a bit difficult.
>>
>>70713904
>binary.
Are you sure you're using that word right.

I'd say the song establishes that Garnet knows she is more than just Ruby and Sapphire. Heck, I almost feel like over the course of the song, she's transitioning from Ruby+Sapphire to just Garnet. Notice how as it progresses, she phases out the "we's"?

Also there is still Sugilite. She's not an unstable fusion like Opal, Malachite, and Alexandrite. Sugilite has her own autonomy that completely clashed with Amethyst and Garnet, yet she's able to keep them supressed and stay herself until being beaten into submission.
>>
>>70714386
Yeah. Binary, as in two possible states. Which I rejected in favor of a more amorphous field of possible relationships.
Unstable fusions easily reach a schizophrenic state because they don't work right.
Stable fusions like Garnet are more measured in their actions and speak with one voice, most of the time (I think at some point when Garnet is shaking Steven, that was more like Ruby's nerves shining through).
And then there is the "bad for each other" kind. See Sugilite or Malachite for examples.
Sugilite is just spinning out of control. Maybe you once knew a person like that. That one you would be absolutely terrible with but you loved it?
Malachite is really horrible. A kind of abusive relationship. Lapis just won't let go.

Now I won't put too much faith into exact wording of a song. You might read too much into it.
And remember, only a Sith deals in absolute.
Nobody else. And never a Jedi. Ever. Absolutely not.

>>
>>70714386
Also interesting is that Malachite stayed together despite Jasper actively trying to defuse. Since fusion is a pretty heavy metaphor for relationships and their stability depends on emotions, I've come to think they work on a scale, with either extreme love or extreme hate generating stability. After all, hate can keep you prisoner.

Your guess is as good as mine, but >>70718561
might be on to something.
>>
>>70717377
Assuming you could hit the gem directly with enough force you would still need to be firing something sufficiently hard to actually shatter that gem. This is assuming of course the gems function anything like the pretty rocks we have.
>>
>>70718906
Diamonds can be shattered with rocks if you strike them at the right angle.
>>
>>70719028
Right, but these are embedded in the gem's physical forms, normally not showing a lot of angles of attack, not to mention non of the gems we've see have been larger than a palm and to call them moving targets would be a huge understatement considering the way they can jump.

He is by far the most adorable incarnation of Homer Simpson. I've seen a lot of people chew him out as a shitty father but his one and only character motivation seems to be spending quality time with his son. Plus, unless Stevonnie counts he may or may not be the only human to have ever fucked and alien.
