This is some kind of hoax, right? Can't find anything about this show online and it looks too new to be from the 90s.

Real or not, I would have eaten this up in elementary school

Guys...What if this video and the thermos are the surviving relics of a defunct timeline? What if this is another Bearenstein/Bearenstain scenario and this cartoon series that once legitimately existed has been erased from history minus a few vague memories and items that fell through the cracks?

Surely some other /co/mrade must recognize the intro-choreography is a copy/homage to other popular cartoons?

The beginning protagonist intros copies THUNDERCATS.

The middle ANTAGONIST intro copies MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE, THUNDERCATS and G.I. JOE.

The ending vehicle-line-up copies DRAGON BALL Z, THUNDERCATS and G.I. JOE as well.

COME ON GUYS, THIS IS AN ELABORATE HOAX!

...

Or media from an alternate universe. I dunno.

INCURSION, SOON?
>>
>>70569684

>>
Has noone thought that it could simply be just another failed pilot?
>>
I'm thinkin' it's an elaborate marketing campaign, it seems just too extensive for one person to pull off. The intro I can see, but the thermos is what gives it away.

Not totally saying one person couldn't do all that, just that I couldn't see what they would have to gain by doing it. I think the idea of a group of people trying to get a show off the ground is more believable.

There's still hope it's a viral campaign for some sort of cartoon aimed at people nostalgic for 80's/90's cartoons. That's what my fingers are crossed for
>>
Tracking errors don't look right, and the animation is TOO good for the era and budget, and the text on the design notes don't look right.

If I'm wrong and it's a failed pilot, find the Japanese side animation lead, because this obviously isn't their first rodeo.

Realistic:
>Hoax
It's almost definitely a hoax, but by who?
>>Nickelodeon Animation Studio
Possibly connected to TMNT'12, as suggested in this thread, the Surge connection, and the Baxter Stockman post. They'd have the budget, but what's the angle?
>>Unknown UK animation team.
Tons links to the UK, but nothing else to go one as far who it could be. Possibly an ARG to generate interest in a pilot.

In the show, the turtles watch old cartoons that were blatant copies of others. The first one was a knockoff Star Trek: TAS on TV and the second was VHS tape of a knockoff Thundarr The Barbarian show. Maybe this was a rejected show for that series or maybe it will be the season three of TMNT.

Also the fact that this guy

claims it was a Saturday morning cartoon in Japan.
Now, I don't know much about Japanese tv schedules, but as far as I know Satruday morning cartoons are a big thing in the U.S., not Japan. His story stinks.

If this is a sort of fake show for TMNT, then what if the comparison to Usagi Yojimbo is intentional? What if it's going to serve as a way to introduce Usagi into that series?

Are and tumblr and/or reddit behind this show's trail as well?

Rooster dude for the win!

In my Google search I saw people on ObscureMedia and 80scartoons on reddit trying to figure it out. And I actually first saw the video on tumblr yesterday, although the poster didn't seem to understand the mystery of it.

Going by some of the people who have tweeted about it, maybe The Line collective? Iain Gardner programs the animation showcase of the EIFF, which featured one of their shorts last year. The Line have also done a few vaguely anime-ish things, which makes it all the more likely to have come from them.
>>
>>70580214
Threw the show's name into Google Translate and got nothing. Assuming that translation was off or the western name is completely different, I looked for ninja rabbit. Still nothing related to the show.

Then it was probably animated in Japan or Korea.

That voice acting in the bit was so racist I don't think anyone in modern day could do it even if it is for a joke.

It was probably Ninja but they changed it to Mega for the UK airing.

Like they did with "Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles". Great Britain didn't like the word "Ninja" being thrown around on childrens TV back then.

Nigga what? There were lots of shows with characters with guns in them back then. They just had to be goofy looking and not look like an actual real life gun.

If you look through all the blog posts it seems pretty legit that it's been there since that date. Also the blog is way older. The youtube channel that the video was uploaded to is way older too. Typically when there's a viral hoax of this nature that's not the case.

If this is a joke/marketing stunt then it's got to be one of the most elaborate ever concocted.

You can modify the date on blogspot posts to any time in the past, but you can't change the RSS feed updates. The STAMR post isn't from 2008, it was posted last year.

Look at the Howl's Moving Castle post: http://openyoureyelyds.blogspot.ca/2008/11/saw-this-other-day.html

The date says it was posted in 2008, but the trailer embedded was uploaded to Youtube in 2011: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2yPstuiHw2s

This is a really high quality fake, but the style on a lot of the faces is a bit inconsistent and doesn't really fit any of the styles of animal cartoons from the supposed time period.
I'm personally assuming that one or two people have been working on this in private for several years for kicks, and they did an amazing job with the presentation, but it's most certainly not a legit 80/90's cartoon.
