It's getting closer to this season's record of 2.385 (kids and fan), so hopefully this week it will be broken, but the numbers are still too far from the best episode of the series numbers-wise, The Goons with 2.719.
But on average this season has the best ratings, I would share them but those are on my old computer and I'm too lazy to make the calculations again, all I can say is that it's been getting progressively better with each passing season, mostly because the first one got hit too hard by the constant hiatuses.
Adventure Time and Regular Show, however, do better with merchandise. The DVDs sold very well, which prompted Cartoon Network to release season sets loaded with features. Gumball's DVDs sold so poorly that they didn't even bother releasing season two on DVD. When they go to Comic Cons, they don't take the Gumball crew or show off Gumball episodes. People don't dress up as Gumball characters.
Gumball is a throwback to Cartoon Network's yesteryear. It has more in common with Chowder and Flapjack than Adventure Time and Regular Show. Perhaps that's what kids want, per the ratings, but it doesn't make a ton of money.

Questions to people who watch/like the show more than I do:
Are there any UK Blu-Ray releases? If yes, is the scan progressive?
I would argue it's because, artstyle aside, Season One wasn't particularly good. I enjoyed it, but it relied too much on the main characters being retarded and abused for me to be fully comfortable. There's only a couple episodes I'll go back and watch.
Also, I'd argue that Regular Show is a bit of a throwback. You take the character dynamics from Two Stupid Dogs and the style and humor of Johnny Bravo, combine them, and set them in the present day.
That's partly because the merchandise line from Gumball was pure, utter garbage, so on that regard it's partly CN's fault.
As for the DVD, back then the show hadn't really took off and was actually on the brink of cancellation, if they dared to release a new DVD/Bluray nowadays it would be a fair comparison.
I won't deny Gumball has been the underdog for the past years, but it's rising while the other two old CN titans are sinking, so it's closing in on getting the recognition it deserves.
You always want to leave the audience wanting more. Adventure Time has mastered the art of placing bait - making people think it will provide something big and complex but never delivering but promising future deliveries.
I mean considering some of the jokes they make, I wouldn't count it out.
I guess the show had a bad rep with S1's writing.
I'm glad Bob managed to pull it off in S2 but the mistakes he made in S1 gave the show a bad rep.
Betty should have been a half hour, at least. It needed FAR more build up, lots more Marceline, and a more satisfying conclusion.
I nearly blew a gasket with that one episode where the witch came back. They killed Root Beer Guy and blew their plot-load prematurely for very little pay off.
Out of all the rushed and disappointing sub-plots I felt this was the one that had no reason to exist. I men was it really necessary to bring her back? Wouldn't it have been better just leaving her with as she was, a tragic memory?
Hey guys I made some fan art of Penny I hope you like it!
The fact that Logan's voice is one of a kind and most people are used to him, it would be very surprising if nobody complained.
Then again, I find Darwin's new VA accurate and cuter in a way.
His favorite episode in season one is The Responsible. His favorite episode in season two is The Knights. His favorite episode in season three is The Shell.
When asked what other character he would like to voice, he immediately thought of Sarah because he likes her, but walked it back when he acknowledged she was a girl and went with doughnut cop.
It's been 15 days now since we last heard from Ben.
>yfw Jacob actually lurks around these threads and delivers with cat Gumball
you're wrong in both accounts.
adults lose the ability to absorb calsium as well as kids, which is why milk is important for them, but milk has a fuckhuge nutritional value either way.
human titty milk is nowhere near as nutritious as processed cow milk, which is like a goddamn food supplement in comparison
Ben's face clearly shows that he is a dead man in the inside.
I'm still up for some gif request if you guys still bother.
Dunno. Everyone's been getting in on the continuity train recently so there's a good chance that they might happen.
Or Penny might end up moving far enough away that she actually does end up going to a different school. That would be pretty funny.
I'd have given her the head of something that eats fish and maybe separated it into two panels (or just pulled the two halves farther apart; the speech bubbles are a bit crowded, but I like it. It's very clean and the facial expressions are excellent.
Is it me, or does Darwin hardly interact with the rest of the Wattersons? I can't imagine how a day would go with just Darwin and Nicole or Darwin and Richard (I've got the gist for Anais and Darwin though because of that one bodyguard episode from S1.
just draw more often.
get a cheap-ass notebook and do not stop until you have effectively filled a page with shit every day. anything, just fine tune your hand until it moves automatically.
make doodling your fidgeting and lolligagging activity of choice.
Which leads me to another question, when I write/draw I rest my palms and sometimes knuckles on the page as I do. I know it's wrong cause it smudges the page and heard it can lead to arthritis. Anyway to break the habit, like relearning how to hold a pen without touching the paper?
Richard did blurt out that Darwin was his favorite. And he and Nicole lost their shit when he was taken by the government.
Then again, he's still not properly adopted. All official records still lists him as a pet, it's just that in a world with talking bananas and rain clouds, everyone just goes along with the talking fish.
I'm guessing that full-episode special that's supposed to be made at some point about Darwin's origins will conclude with him being made a legal member of the family.
>Then again, he's still not properly adopted. All official records still lists him as a pet, it's just that in a world with talking bananas and rain clouds, everyone just goes along with the talking fish.
it probably will never happen because if you can not-be a person and then become a person, then a person can stop being a person and that kinda shits all over "inalienable rights"
but in cartoon logic, it's a pain in the ass to make happen.
Not at all. Current abortion law defines when something becomes a person, but personhood can never be taken away even if you're braindead.
I don't see how a pet fish attaining sapience needs to be some grand philosophical quandary. If anything the only reason why Darwin is still listed as a pet is not because of some legal barrier, but because Richard was too lazy and/or broke to ever file the paperwork. But everyone treats him as a person anyway, so they never had to bother.
The special could be about the consequences of that finally catches up and they need to rush to get it done. Like Darwin gets seriously hurt and they need to get him legally recognized as a person otherwise the hospital will just flush him down the toilet. Then we get to see how the hell he grew his legs via flashbacks.

>patient as fuck, can deal shit she got put through

Best grill 2014
Yeah, but that just says Richard and Nicole love him. Doesn't really tell us how they overall interact. We know the character dynamic for Nicole around Gumball, Gumball+Darwin, Richard, and Anais. We know the dynamic of Richard and Gumball, Gumball+Darwin, and Anais. But Richard and Darwin or Nicole and Darwin? I have no clue how a conversation would go or how an episode would go. The only time I recall Nicole only talking to Darwin was whatever that episode was about Elmore. Had Nicole and Darwin at a grocery store and she asks him to grab something.
This crude sketch has been sitting on my folder for a while so I might as well just share it in case I don't finish it, Gumball and Dragon Penny seemed like a cute idea.
Boku no Bluecat
I really liked this episode and I could relate with Gumball's awkwardness
Don't make it weird anon
Are You Thinking What I'm Thinking?
>The license plates
You mean her rabbit form.
I want a relationship like the one Gumball has with Penny. ;_;
>I just want someone to love me for being me
we are all gay for gumball
I miss Zyklon B
enso much. God rest his soul! Its a shame he didn't know in hindsight that many of us loved The Shell!
Can I please eulogize Ben Barbequesauce/Ben Babaganoush at the funerary? Perhaps they will cremate him and put the ashes into a 'Haniwa' much like Penny is and then complete the cycle!
I think that's the one thing I really loved about Penny from the beginning, the "doesn't care about spaghetti spilling" part. Every single TV show and cartoon ever has the girl go like "ookaaaaay" as soon as the boy who likes her does something even a tiny bit awkward, and honestly that does nothing but remind me of how much of an awkward fuck I was back in high school.
It's nice that she loves Gumball for the dork he is.
it feels more realistic for it, which its ironic considering the whole show itself.
Actually I think thats one of the main jokes of the show, behaving realistically even with all the weird stuff present. I like The End a lot for this alone.
I said it before and I will gladly say it again...
The /co/ Gumball threads are seriously mostly 60-70% Nicole incestfags who obviously have a mommy complex and need professional help for this, 15-20% people that talk about Penny, most are very nice discussions and great original content fanart of her, 3% of that paper fucking cunt, 2% on obscure characters like Molly, and T-Rex, 2% on 'everything inbetween', 1% new people who have had a genuine interest in the show like yours truly at one point and ask questions then get absorbed and taken into these threads. Oh well. Happy Thursday!!
as far as the above statistic, it is with a ±0.02% margin of error and the coefficient of variance is 5.4
what makes you think that? its already in full swing past the 'usual' 200-300 posts and especially after the 'Thursday fireworks show' and the threads that come after.
are you the animatic/animation person or the one who wanted to make one? I remember reading about someone who wanted to do something like this in one of the threads
So she's basically all naked right now. In the school. Sitting on the bench.

I dropped this show back in season 2 I think, but started catching episodes again after hearing all the hubbub about the Shell because I was curious to see what Penny's true form is.
The Shell and this episode were pretty good. Is all of season 3 this solid?
It's definitely higher quality than the previous 2 seasons, but still more hit and miss. The Shell, and the seasons opening episodes are the strongest the show's been. Definitely a step up.
Darwin is supposed to be the adopted black kid, right?
Can someone draw Gumball and Penny having angry sex?
Would like to see Penny's design a little more refined in S4.
Or at least hands & feet
This isn't the first time I heard this, from both the current VA and the former one, and as a spanish-speaking south american, I have no fucking clue of what you guys are talking about.
Uh. I didn't consciously recognize it, but I guess my brain sorta did, then.
I've got to say, I can't really tell what is black about his voice. I can definitely picture it on a black kid, but I couldn't say why, in term of how everything is pronounced.
Eh, I just like Gumball and Anais.
Gumball and Penny is still my OTP though.
You gotta be shitting me, not again.
But really though
>Logan's hover hand
I don't think voice acting takes that much time, really - they probably do like half of a season in one week of holiday worth of voice acting and go the rest of the year like other kids.
>It could be safe to assume they're tutored
I read that as tortured
>decide to check #gumball tag on tumblr
>wolf penny vore
>decide to check #gumball tag on tumblr
Why the hell did the way Gumball's tail looks like in the image make me want to write a cohesive sentence for a few minutes but without the ability to form one that would not look like a splatter of jumbled thoughts?
Fair enough, hope to see more references to their relationship in future episodes.
Yeah but latter on, while I do consider this sweet as hell, it's been three episodes in a row.
Next week is the Carrie/Halloween episode, then is a new Richard episode, so yeah, the show knows that as well.
There are some but sadly I lost then, I have this gif though.
I know man, I just don't want them to overdo it, the show's doing great mostly because it knows what t is and stick to it, so an overfocus on romance could potentially be harmful.
The curse, the job and the void demonstrate reality is a moody bitch that lashes out against anything that goes slightly different from her way.
It's like if they lived under old testament god
Heh heh heh heh heeeeeeeeehhhhhhhhh
Heh heh heh heh heeeeeeeeehhhhhhhhh.....
Kooky Kooky Kooky Kooky Kooky Kooky Koo-ky-Koo....
>Watch the new ep
Wow that was pretty cool. I gotta see what co thinks of this one.
>Come to thread
I was rewatching The Job and it raised a really curious question.
What episode do you think was the most expensive so far? This one looks like it would be on the upper places of the list.
For what I understand most season 1 episodes were very expensive since at the time they had to do everything from scratch, that's why the show never delivered 4 of the 40 episodes ordered.
So yeah, the most expensive is there, most likely any episode that heavily featured Tina.
A lot of the stuff I got off of /v/ when artists would show up out of the blue. Most of the artists were either on deviantart or tumblr. Go figure.
why do people keep insisting Tina is expensive to animate? she has very simple walk and run animations and few expressions.
you know what character was probably more expensive? clayton
Because Ben said she is too expensive. The Rex was scrapped because it was too expensive. Just because you think something is simple doesn't mean that it is.
Studio Soi in Germany should still be doing it.
Preview of next week's episodes, this is the richard one.
Eh, I prefer to misspell Bakelite's.
And this is from the Carrie episode.
