GREETINGS TRUE BELIEVERS!
So yesterday we staffed reading all of Hellboy! And far be it for me to stop doing that because I know some of you are looking forward to it! I don't want to make any of you wait any longer than needed so let's get started with WAKE THE DEVIL on
DAN "DASH" LEE PRESENTS!
>>65328591
How is everyone doing tonight?
If you want to read from the start then go here
>>65303626
>>65328732
Man optimistic and happy about comics Alan Moore, Hellboy's older than I thought
>>65328848
Wake the Devil was 96' I believe. So Probably not much after when Moore wrote that.
Crate 666 is a little on the nose don't ya think. Even tho vampires and the Devil aren't really related traditionally iirc
>>65329043
>Vampires, mummies, Frankenstein
I would've read this sooner if I knew the baddies were an army of Universal monsters. Waiting for a wolfman
>>65328945
Am I going insane or did you storytime this exact same story a couple of weeks ago?
>>65328669
Between you doing all of hellboy, Kind Storyteller doing Cable and Deadpool, and some kind anon starting a storytime of Morrison's Batman, I sure have a lot of great storytimes to look forward to in the coming weeks
>>65329192
You are perfectly sane. I did it at the request of someone. Then after that I decided to story time all of Hellboy again. So while it might be a little soon I need to story time this again. Sorry for the inconvenience.
>>65329226
KS is doing Cable and Deadpool? Be still my beating heart
i think ilsa's hot
>>65329231
>Sorry for the inconvenience.
Nah, it's not an inconvenience at all, I was just getting some serious deja vu. It's a great story, gonna read it again anyways.
>>65329295
so do i
>>65329368
More alien stuff?! I kind of love seeing early stuff like this that gets dropped later on in things.
>>65329295
not as hot as liz
bump.
I thank you, OP. I got into it a littl ebit ago, but havign to download them all the time was a hassle.

>>65329979

>>65328669

Not one of my proudest moments....
>>65331585

>>65331744
>>65332408
>>65332932
>>65334613
>>65335145
Sorry sorry. I am too easily distracted tonight.
>>65328591
You're one of the best Mr Dashly!
>>65329640
So Zinc Co, gonna be a bigger thing later?
Alright guys I think that is all for tonight!
Does every arc have a "Oh Hellboy you're supposed to be the new Devil blah blah mystic shit" "Lol NOPE" exchange? It's kind of irritating, makes the villains feel samey
>>65336426
The concept of Hellboy's fate comes up a lot. It's just a fact it fucking has to.
You'll enjoy tomorrow more. It's more short tales of one off adventures Hellboy has had.
I liked the lil hellboy. Thanks.
>>65336513
I think it's maybe just reading it like trades, seems every third fight has them having the same exchange. Like I get it's clearly a big theme of the book but right now it's super one note.
>>65336639
Like I said, come back tomorrow. Small one offs where Hellboy's fate will almost never come up.
>>65328945
Sweet, I think this is one of the few I haven't read yet.
>>65331920
Oh fuck a story somewhat close to me!
Are you gonna do BPRD too?
>>65338493
Not sure yet.
dadadadada bump
Didn't realize until these rereads that Seed of Destruction has an internal monologue the series dropped later
>>65339160
Because John Bryne was behind the scripting and Mignola just wrote the story
>>65333686
The quote there, about Chloaclena, is supposedly bathroom graffiti by some famous poet (Oscar Wilde?) as a fake prayer to the potty goddess to have a good poo.
Or so I've (possibly quite wrongly) heard.
>>65335964
Yeah
>>65329400
Not so much "alien," more Lovecraftian.
>>65334574
>Roger gets a hot goddess babe
This makes me feel nice.
You're the best Dan!
bumping , kindly,
>>65335964
It's just Zinco, but yeah
>>65343613
It comes back later on, without spoiling too much
>>65329110
Napoleon's nickname for the guy was The Devil.
Is there an order to these stories?
>>65329231
So im guessing this is who the monster with the mechanical arm in hellboy the golden army was based off of.
>>65347157
yes?
>>65347157
I dunno if Dan has a specific order he wants to do though
>>65351610
bumb
>>65351052
I think he's doing the trade order + random one-shots
>>65351052
I am going in trade order for the person who requested Hellboy and then with left over space in these threads I am posting whatever.
RISE I COMMAND YOU TO RISE!
>>65355428
AND. AWAKEN.

>>65330133
> Have a Giant Snake Body
How is this a downside?
Don't let this die
bampity
>>65356831
I dunno
>>65358095
Bibbity-bobbity-boo
>>65354132
so what time do you usually do storytime dan?
>>65356832
We are trying.
>>65359056
We I get off work. Usually like 10:30
Bumping for Ogdru Jahad.
>>65360448
Good to know, thanks
>>65330084
TL:DR
>She Wants The H
>>65351052
Why is it that some issues/arcs were released out of canonical order?
Also how inadvisable would it be to jump straight to B.P.R.D.?
>>65361871
Which ones do you mean.
And I suppose you could, although a little Hellboy reading makes BPRD all the better.
>>65362117
In the first column it jumps from '96 to '95 to '11 then back to '98. Are these just flashback issues?
I am making the assumption that these are being listed in order, so maybe I'm wrong.
>>65351052
How much to buy a physical Hellboy comic new?
>>65362362
€20. Hmm I love the lore and the art style. Id consider buy the set just to own them and put them away somewhere like treasure. Take them out to show people who might have taste.
>>65362362
A collection or trade paperback or what?
>>65362262
To be entirely honest, I have no idea what that 2011 is, since all those are collected in the Right Hand of Doom and others.
The main arcs should be obvious, the rest that are usually "The XX and others" are collections of one offs that are take place at random points in time, although publishing order is as good as any way to read them.
