I think it's too early to say until friday, but it's a simple fact that with that promotion and scheduling and with most of the current audience just streaming that shit or downloading later, Airing Fridays on Nick wasn't working out.
Well Well Well indeed! It's over. Korra Season 4 is over, the rest of season 3 is being thrown up online, probably all at once, they might do the same with season 4. This shitty ass show lasted 3 seasons to long as it is.
Korra not only destroyed all the past avatars, but all the future ones as well.
Depends. Currently, there's simply no word on how the show will be handled. For all you know it could simply come back this fall, on TV and online after a decent advertisement campaign. imagine the sheer amount of Well Well Wells.
Sad, ain't it?
Because low numbers make tv executives go crazy and will make dumb choices, if Nick listened and were logical they would use this as a great time to hire up some great talent and focus on making great cartoons again, but Nick is not smart and will cancel the show and thus numbers will continue to go down as they blame everyone but themselves.
I swear /co/ needs to find a way to email the executives of Nickelodeon and tell them what needs to get done.
In this internet day and age there must be a way to email them what is up.
Animation is no place for action and adventure because animation is for stupid little children. Cartoons are for babies.
Now is the season of evil. I've won. We've won. Western animation dies with Korra.
They will bring back the avatar, The last episode Korra is all alone and now she really needs to be spiritual to better maintain her mental sanity.
A booming voice takes over korras body and mind. and it tells her...
[spoilers]the avatar was inside you the whole time[/spoilers]
avatar mode engage.
Randy Cunningham: 9th Grade is pretty much both of those. A coming of age story with a kid guardian of the world coming to grips with his austere legacy and the responsibilities that cone with it amidst energetic humor and kung-fu-on-monster-on-crook-on-mecha action.
Or you could always introduce her to THAT show.
Just goes to show you that Nickelodeon has gone to shit.
>captcha very much related
shhh, don't say that here. according to /co/ LOK is literally the worst show on air.
>AV Club: average B+ rating
>Hollywood Reporter: "The third season premiere finds Nickelodeon's animated teen adventure series firing on all cylinders, delivering suspense, humor and bone-crunching, element-bending action."
>Escapist magazine: "The first two episodes, (of book 3) aired as one, were fantastic."
>Screenrant: "If the first three episodes of book 3 are any indication, then we’re in for one exciting season of team avatar adventures."
>Amazon: Book 1 - 4.7/5, Book 2 - 4.5/5
>bu-but they are all just fanboy idiots!
I guess normal people don't have such refined tastes like you guys
This is how desperate Korrafags have become
MUH INTERNET JOURNALIST SITES
What did they expect? Have they every had anything do well on Friday nights? Could have easily gotten higher ratings by keeping it in a saturday morning time slot. But no, they'd rather have reruns of spongebob or some shit.
Viacom execs must be literally retarded.
Literally what else does Nick have that compares? Fairly odd parents? Post-movie Spongebob reruns? Season 2 at least gave us Varrick, the twins, and the Wan flashback, so it wasn't a total wash.
Thanks, Nick. I am now for the first time watching tumblr and enjoying myself.
You think that, but there were so many smug morons who said "There's NO WAY Nick will just put the rest of the episodes online, they paid for them!"
Probably the same dumbfucks trying to say Book 3 is good instead of garbage
Fuck you /co/
Fuck all of you. The only reason this show got cancelled was because America can't handle a woman and a black girl as a protagonist.
INb4 go back to tumblr
You are all sexist fucking SHITLORDS and I'm fucking ASHAMED to post on the same board as you
I thought you guys were better than the manginas on /a/ and /pol/
I guess not, you fucking RACIST, SEXIST PIECES OF SHIT
I think it's hard to be dissapointed anymore when your expectations are so low they're next to fucking dinosaur bones
>assuming all pots and kettles are black
CHECK YOUR PRIVILEGES
STOP CULINARY SHAMING
I COMPLETELY AGREE IT WAS ALL THE SEXISM AND RACISM AND NOTHING ELSE
/co/s pretty much gone off totally irrational about Korra, it's a show with many flaws yes but if you asked the people with hateboners here it's literally Satan incarnate or some shit. honestly their some of the most annoying posters on /co/.
COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY FINE, ONLY RACISM AND SEXISM
You know how /v/ sends video game creators cards thanking them and wishing them happy birthdays?
Can we send Bryke a card about us laughing at them and reveling in their suffering and fall?
You know why? Because it's tiring.
It's tiring getting angry watching something you love continuously get shit on by execs and stupid plot points. Korra's not perfect by any means, but damn it, I like the universe, and I've seen it get fucked over by bad writing and terrible execs so many times that it's basically expected by this point.
There literally has not been a season of LoK that has not had SOME sort of problem either relating to timeslots, production issues, or writing. So you just give up after a while.
Korra is just the latest cartoon as of late to join the club of good cartoons with terrible circumstances, just like Young Justice, Motor City, Tron, GLTAS, SymBionic Titan.... The list goes on. Sure it got three seasons, and maybe there'll be a fourth if it gets swapped over to Nicktoons or digital, but honestly it's worse seeing something get dragged through the mud rather than just letting it die.
So yeah, what's the point of a shitstorm exactly?
Send him this picture with a note saying "It's like poetry" - love /co/
How about we frame it as a "Wish you well" card, but make it super sarcastic and spiteful?
Like, we attach this image to it and everything
Bryke got to make a sequel show to their show that had a shitty toy line, and what did they do with such a divine opportunity?
>Too much time spent on teen romance
>One of the most interesting characters is a human air bison
Also, I want to laugh about Tenzin breaking up with Lin because she wanted to be child-free and now there are airbenders everywhere but Lin is so goddamn hot that it's tragic.
You have no idea how depressing this shit makes me.
I want to be an animator. Making cartoons has been a dream of mine since I was a small child. Seeing the medium slowly die out makes me want to fucking drink.
Or kill myself.
Or kill myself by drinking.
What? Animation isn't dying. Isn't Frozen like top 5 grossing movies ever?
The only thing that's dying is children's programming. Especially shitty children's programming that was horribly mismanaged by the network.
Weren't they already testing the waters for digital premieres when they suddenly released Book 2's finale online?
Sounds to me like Book 3 and Book 4 are gonne be digitally released with replays on
B-but anon... i really like korra
but as a protagonist she is crap, i blame the director
No, I'm aware. And It's something I'm (slowly) working on. I have tons of ideas but it's al about whittling it down until you find something that works and then just committing to it.
Also it would help if I practiced. At all. Ever.
Where did this come from and why do people think it's funny?
Yeah same here. I always wanted to do 2D animated shows since I was inspired by a lot of the anime on Toonami. Who knows, maybe there will be a sudden boom in demand for more shows like TLAB/LoK in the future instead of stuff that gets aired on now
>yfw you know it doesn't matter whether the show's online, on Nicktoon, or Nick, /co/ will still put themselves through the pain of watching it and arguing about it.
It's memetic hate. Happens with a lot of things, Korra's just one of the more recent ones. Look at old threads on the archives, you can actually see where this vocal group starts and chart how it spreads.
when GL and YJ were cancelled
/co/ explode with threads of korra saying it "well well well look who's back crawling"
>Platinum announces Korra game
>Decide I should give Avatar and Korra a go
>Blow through Avatar in a little under a week
>Love it to death
>Move on to Korra
>Korra's a meh character but STEAMPUNK ROARING TWENTIES HELL YEAH
>Book 1 is meh, I miss the spiritual stuff
>Book 2 is all spiritual stuff
>Fucking love it
>Book 3 is pretty darn good so far
I'm such a new fan
I HAVE TO SEE THE REST NOW NICKELODEON
YOU DID THIS TO ME
It's the only thing I actually have fun arguing about on here
I half expect them to do a full dump and throw the rest of the season up all at once. Then do it again with the last season. They really seem like they want to wash their hands of the whole thing and pretend it never happened. Avatar is dead to Nick.
Are you really this new to Shipping, ningen?
Justifications come for everything.
I was wondering how long it would take for someone to post that here.
>tfw i've been bonding with a friend more than ever because of this season
>she's a korra fangirl
>tfw when she gave me her address last week because i missed last week's korra
>she's busy moderating at this church (!) camp this week and she's pissed she will miss the episode
>tfw releasing them online only means i'll never come up with an excuse to go to her house and fuck her virgin vag
oh my god this fucking fandom is the MASTER of melodrama holy shit
jesus christ it's just going to hulu
it's not your best friend getting hit by a car
fuck you eric you shouldn't have been coming over to apologize
I was mad and I'm sorry about what I said
it's my fault
>I know PLENTY of #LGBT that identify with a non-existent relationship
>implying Book 4 won't be released somehow
>implying /co/ isn't going to watch the rest of this book and Book 4
>implying we're not going to still have threads bitching about it, followed by more threads bitching about it, followed by more threads arguing with each other about how we'd do it better, followed by another bitch thread and a few threads about the girls.
Sounds like a pretty hollow victory.
Did you look at that picture? Of course they're making it about themselves. They always do. Tumblr takes on the guise of the protector of the LGBT audience, but really only uses them to champion causes that directly influence their own boring life.
Woah. Uh. That got dark kinda fast.
Well, this proves it.
Not only does Nick not care about Korra, they outright hate it.
Bryke could get away with anything for Season Four now, I bet. Time for Korrasami to become canon!
Most of tumblr is populated by suburban whites and asians looking for some kind of "cause" to champion just cause their regular life is utterly boring. At least that's the impression I get.
>yfw being online gives Bryke free reign with the series
Maybe they'll do something that doesn't involve a deus ex machina.
>Remainder of seasons 3 and 4 will be distributed entirely online
>Online episodes end up pulling in 3-4 times the audience the cable channel was getting because online fans can stream legally instead of pirating
>New video game ends up being a huge hit
>Nick finally realizes how retarded it's been acting all these years
I can dream, right?
But can the Avatar be gay?
Gays don't exist in Avatar.
I don't know how to gauge this reaction in particular. It seems tame but I am not familiar enough with tumblr reactions to anything.
I've always felt 90% of SJWs are privileged white teen/20 something girls getting offended on other people's behalf without actually checking to see if those people are offended in the first place.
I don't see how it could. If "Gone Home" proves anything, then anything can become a work of art when you add lesbians.
Maybe they'll actually show an actual dead body for once.
Yeah, I thought about that. But it's probably not too late to at least shake things up in time for the series finale.
Watch in shock and amazement as Bolin and Mako create context.
This is glorious. I literally wish I could drink these people's tears.
>Main villain is an obsessive tsundere Korra fangirl
>Constantly is sending hatemail/fanmail to Korra
>Criticizes everything Korra does while secretly wanting to bang her senseless
>Her name is
somebody should reply to that post with something like "omfg that's so fucking insensitive to the poor. do you know how fucking expensive eggs are? how dare you. way to waste food on a joke. typical of a white person, though."
>anything can become a work of art when you add lesbians
I want to get this printed on a canvas and hang it in my dining room.
follow up comics, nigga
>Maybe they'll actually show an actual dead body for once.
Why do that when you can have it hand--embroidered?
Nah, that's just a rotting corpse.
I'm talking a straight on murder, getting stabbed straight in the face, or maybe having all their limbs cut off like they're a less comedic Black Knight.
Young Korra was only good Korra. They should've just kept the show about her when she was young and we wouldn't have had to deal with all the retarded ham-fisted drama. It would still have retarded fucking writing but at least it'd be adorable and therefore watchable.
>Nick cancels one of the, like, four programs it still airs that's not Spongebob
>Replaces it with more Spongebob
I don't want to live on this planet anymore.
You asked for a dead body and you received a dead body.
Regardless, bloodbending has always struck me as one of the darkest aspects of the Avatar world. What if Korra
broke someone's heart?
They died peacefully, and Jet's death was ambiguous at best. Though they at least aren't rotting corpses.
I'm talking something you'd have seen in "Star Wars: The Clone Wars", whichever one had blatant death on-screen.
I'm surprised they never made that pun before, though I guess that's because they never made another Halloween episode after the initial bloodbending episode. At least, I assume it's a Halloween episode. Seems like it would be.
Not good enough.
Ever see a Nickelodeon ratings chart?
EVERY show gets beat out by Saturday morning Spongebob reruns.
I don't think the show is THAT bad. I mean there's plenty wrong with it, but at least it's fun to watch, even through it's most retarded moments. The Book 2 finale was stupid, but at least I wasn't bored. I myself have mostly stuck with it for the lore to add to my
That said, I kinda would like to just get it over with already.
Because Nick was stupid, they had a show that was getting great ratings in it's timeslot, and for no fucking reason they threw it somewhere else and right away half it's audience is gone.
Bloodbending is probably the most benign bending art there is, it's meant to be evil and shit because blooood, but it has potentially amazing beneficial applications and it's probably the least lethal thing you can do to a person you're fighting in the Avatar World.
For years I fought tooth and nail, pointing out how flawed this show was.
Today should be a great victory for me.
But as I stare down at my fallen foe, as I see her blue eyes go cloudy as she breathes her last, I feel no joy, nor happiness
All I feel is disgust
Reminds me of G4's channel.
>COPS COPS COPS COPS COPS XPLAY COPS COPS CAMPUS PD, MORE COPS COPS COPS HEROS LOST LOST LOST COPS COPS COPS XPLAY.
If G4 can survive on that type of shit, Nick is gonna go the spongebob route sooner then ever.
You're right! I'm sure I can find someone on tumblr that wants to buy a wii u or something to commission. Then again, "lesbian throw pillows" is probably a category on etsy.
I hate Bryke, but if I were them
If I were them I'd get Mir and a rag tag group of writers together to change the ending to Book 4 so it has Korra and Asami kiss
Seriously, that's the nuclear option, and the shitstorm it would produce...
>The Book 2 finale was stupid, but at least I wasn't bored.
This - the ending wasn't great but I was too busy geeking out over the giant kaiju fight to care.
Also to it's credit I think it managed to sneak in a few genuinely good dramatic moments like Korra after Vaatu breaks her link to her past lives and 'kills' Raava, or her finding her identity in the tree.
Huh, really? I'm using the ratings from tvbythenumbers, but those are still pretty bad.
>and it's probably the least lethal thing you can do to a person you're fighting in the Avatar World
Realistically, a blood bender should be able to kill you in half a second from across the room. Other benders need to shoot projectiles at you, but a bloodbender is bending you.
Sure, it has medical applications, but that'd take 1000x the skill. It's easier to kill someone by messing with their blood than heal someone by messing with their blood.
But they can't. Even when Yakone tried to kill Aang, he was trying hard and didn't manage. So outright killing through bloodbending alone seems to be beyond the power of most benders.
Realistically, a firebender should be able to make your blood boil by touching you. Or a waterbender.
Why would anyone like Asami and Korra together, other than Tumblr feminists and horny guys?
1. They have no chemistry.
2. They're straight.
Putting them together would be blatant pandering to SJW and 13-year-old boys who just want to fap.
You know, Korra and Asami kissing would be a lot better writing than some of the other shit we've seen happen on this show
Korrasami is one of this show's only redeeming attributes
The rest being porn
Really? Because my reaction was intense eye rolling at the kaiju fight. That was the stupidest.
So let me get this... "straight"
You can buy Jinora pulling plot devices out her bum, but two girls kissing breaks your suspension of disbelief?
Hahaha, damn son. You need to chill out and enjoy the soothing power of lesbians
Eventually. But for an ability like bloodbending, it seemed like Yakone was having a damn hard time actually killing Aang with it, he tried for several seconds before Aang entered the avatar state and didn't succeed.
Nothing is part of the show, you silly silly man
Korra has no central themes, no spiritual core
And so I say to you, why not lesbians?
You can't contradict that which isn't there
>So let me get this straight: you can buy magical characters being magical, but you can't buy two straight girls who barely know each other becoming lesbian, because the audience wants social just and fap material?
>KORRA SUCKS SO LETS JUST FAP
Ah, this is probably why I hate Korrasami jackasses the most. Just because you want to be edgy, doesn't mean the show doesn't have themes and spirituality. That's moot anyway.
Things that are in the show are in the show. Korrasami is not in the show, just like Zutara wasn't in the original.
Wait, wait, so you're telling me I can piss off Korrafags AND post pictures of lesbians at the same time?
SIGN ME UP DOC
The characters are straight because....? They both dated a guy? They can't ever get curious and find they like each other better? Cause that just doesn't happen in real life, does it?
>getting this butthurt
Shoot, you're making ME want to post some Korrasami now. Sadly, this is the only picture I have on the subject
It was ridiculous! Why couldn't it have been a crazy bending battle on the scale of the times of Aang with some crazy spirit magic thrown in? The Kaiju battle felt so disconnected from everything we know about the world.
Yes? So what? He still wasn't wounded and Yakone was straining his ass off to kill him.
By comparison, killing someone with almost any other kind of bending would be a lot quicker.
He knocked out an entire court room with a flick of his wrists. Pretty sure Aang only survived because he was the Avatar and had been bloodbent before, so he knew ways to lessen its effects
>He knocked out an entire court room with a flick of his wrists.
Which is not killing.
>Pretty sure Aang only survived because he was the Avatar and had been bloodbent before
Wonderful headcanon but that doesn't make any fucking sense. Aang never learnt to bloodbend, much less without the moon.
I don't know why Nick hasn't put out any merch. Etsy and the like are overflowing with shirts, plushies, and prints, and I always see Korra stuff at cons. But I've never seen any official products (besides DVDs) in stores
>tfw no action figures
dont be tumblr faggots please, everything doesn't need to be shipped. just accept the fact that these people are not mentally ill and are not degenerates, they are able bodied and mentally sound heterosexuals, can be a little dysfunctional at times, but hey, they just young adults after all.
This entire season has been a near constant stream of laughs for me. Everything has happened so perfectly for maximum butt anguish.
They are making it up to us for season 1 and 2.
>Which is not killing.
So you're saying that he couldn't have just bloodbent their unconscious bodies to snap their neck?
>Pretty sure Aang only survived because he was the Avatar and had been bloodbent before
>Wonderful headcanon but that doesn't make any fucking sense
It would help if you quote the entire sentence - mitigation. Korra couldn't bloodbend either but managed to fight its effects at the end of season 1. I'd assume that prior experience with something like that would make you acquainted with the feeling and at least be able to resist it, even if only slightly.
Korra was doomed to fail from the beginning. There were definitely things Nick could've done to improve profits from the series, especially regarding this season, but they couldn't have made it successful. An HBO-type series would never run on a cable kids channel, not with the way they watch television and the way the network makes money from it.
>he couldn't have just bloodbent their unconscious bodies to snap their neck?
Doesn't seem like it would be easy for him, given how difficult it was for him to snap Aang's. He gave him free chiropracty, but no damage.
>I'd assume that prior experience with something like that would make you acquainted with the feeling and at least be able to resist it, even if only slightly.
Again, nice headcanon, but no. All Korra did was use her brute strength to get off a kick. Being bloodbent before doesn't make you more resistant.
Why people on tumblr are angry at Nick? sure they didn't promote the show enough but they have the right to cut a show that gives them no money. Remember last year when Korra didn't make it to the top 100 (or it was top 500) shows/episodes watched on Nick? and now this season has even shittier ratings so what?
This is the main reason I watched that show.
I don't mean some idiotic RPG vidya levelup resistant. Are you telling me that if you had something like that happen to you twice, you wouldn't be at least a little prepared for it the second time?
Korra completely shits on the previous show, and /co/ liked the previous show.
IMDB series ratings don't mean shit btw, most shows that are somewhat not shit are at 8 points and above, e.g. Dexter has a 9.0
Well first off, fandom is cancer. Any fandom for anything ever.
Aside from that I'd guess the majority of people that still care about korra are either too young or too stupid to recognize how poor the writing was in the first 2 seasons. Most of the fandom is made up of these people that think it's the most epic show evarrrrr!!!!!!~~~
So now you've got a large fandom of underage/stupid people that think them and everything they like is the center of everything and if anything goes wrong it's someone else's fault. Currently they're blaming nick.
Reminder that no matter what happens to this series - good, bad or ugly - /co/ will be angry and still claim they saw it coming all along.
Thought this made sense.
>Korra doesn't fit in on Nick. At all. This becomes painfully obvious when you notice all the ads that run during commercial breaks are geared toward a demographic that Korra simply doesn't have. Why is this a problem? Because the main reason ratings among the various demographics matter is that they help lock in sponsorship deals. Sponsors want to market their products to audiences they believe will buy them, and the bigger the audience, the bigger the deal. Given that Korra is so drastically unlike anything else on their channel, it's possible that Nick just doesn't have sponsors who interested in marketing to Korra's audience. If that's the case, then ads that air during LOK are effectively dead space. Nick can't even effectively advertise their own shows during Korra because people who watch Korra probably won't watch anything on Nick but Korra (I know I won't). Looking at this scenario from the perspective of a Nick exec, there's very little money to be made by airing episodes of Korra. It would make perfect sense then for them to make money off of them elsewhere...if that's what they're doing.
Which she did by using muscle force against amon's bending. If that's all it takes to resist being killed by it, I don't think you need to experience it first.
The point is simply that compared to all other kinds of bending, blood is one of the least dangerous and most potentially beneficial, and it was only made to look bad because whooo, blood.
Anon, for fuck's sake, that's indirect damage and nothing you can't do worse with any other kind of "not evil" bending.
>Anon, for fuck's sake, that's indirect damage
What the hell are you talking about? You could literally pick up a person and smash them into a bloody pulp. There's little more "direct damage" than that.
When was it Amon's goal to kill anyone? The whole point was to establish an equal governmental body. Even at the end when his blood bending is revealed it's said that he really believes in his cause.
>Restraining people with rock is impossible
>Or literally bending water on their face and drowning
>Or setting them on fire, or one-shotting them with lightning.
Best you can do with bloodbending is toss-em off a cliff or something, which is a more indirect way of doing things. So you see, bloodbending, while potentially lethal, is less so than it's counterparts, and potentially much more beneficial. Making it out to be an evil art is stupid when it's greatest strength is the ability to irresistibly hold an opponent (like a more effective and less likely to damage version of metalbending cables or rock cuffs or encasing in ice)
Why couldn't Yakone do it to Aang then?
In other words, it's better for holding things nonlethally, which makes it better suited for law enforcement than for assassination or crime.
After several seconds of Yakone fruitlessly trying to kill him, to no ill effect. Clearly, it's not as easy as you think.
Knocked out, not killed.
Bloodbending has caused much less deaths than any other kind of bending. And yet it's reviled for no good reason other than "muh blood".
>In other words, it's better for holding things nonlethally, which makes it better suited for law enforcement than for assassination or crime.
>Stop blood flow in the body
Are you dense?
>See high ranking political official on the street
>Stop the blood in his heart
>Drops to the ground and is dead within moments from mysterious circumstances
>You walk off into the crowd
How is that not perfect for assassinations?
>>Stop blood flow in the body
>Shooting someone with lightning
Lethality cannot be why it's banned. When you hold someone with bloodbending, you don't stop their blood flow.
>Stop the blood in his heart
It obviously is not that easy to kill someone with it, because Yakone had to strain and huff and couldn't murder Aang quickly. You may as well say
>bend his bones into dust
>walk off into the crowd
You really are dense.
>In the avatar universe you can dodge lightening and redirect it
>You can't dodge bloodbending or effectively defend against it
>Controlling an entire room of people
>Then even almost subduing the raw power of the avatar state
>Or is negativity just meant to be the default state?
You know how you can defend against bloodbending? By learning bloodbending. You know, the exact thing Katara outlawed.
>Then even almost hyperventilating attempting to kill one human with his bloodbending for several seconds to no avail, whereupon said person just lost patience and entered the Avatar state.
I... really don't know how to feel.
Should I be ashamed of the audience who don't care enough for Korra to watch it on tv and give it ratings?
Or should I be ashamed of Nick for making even more stupid mistakes with the show?
I'll be honest, when ATLA originally aired, I missed some episodes and was completely surprised when Aang and Katara kissed at the end. I really thought that Zuko/Katara was endgame because of their moments together before Zuko betrayed them and Zuko and Katara fighting Azula together.
I'm not a Zutara shipper, but I don't think it's an entirely bullshit ship. I'd say they had more chemistry than Aang and Katara.
>Should I be ashamed of the audience who don't care enough for Korra to watch it on tv and give it ratings?
Not really? TV is inconvenient as fuck and nielsen boxes are goddamn artifacts from a bygone age.
