I'm not too sure about that. At least, that can't be the only thing. Problems with the Sonic comic may have been coincidence and hasn't necessarily matched up with the timeline that way. Around the beginning of the lawsuit, the digests sales were doing really well, better than Sonic, really. (About 60-90k+) If anything, I'd say it was just one contribution. The others would've been the Co-CEO scandal, the drop in digest sales (About 30-40k currently). and possibly knowledge of lost contracts.

The lawsuit happened at 2010. If it were true, that would mean some of the stunts to push the brand to the wider audience would have been planned three years ago. I don't know how early they do things in advance, but that means things like the MAC makeup line, the Sabrina cartoon, and the new Archie cartoon was planned in less than three years. However, the comic gimmicks (sans Afterlife) must've been planned way before the lawsuit. So, it's hard to say.
