I marathoned this show and caught the new episode last night. I'd heard nothing but bad things from /co/ and expected something awful. Honestly, though? I think this is the best cartoon out there right now. first couple of episodes are weak, but the later ones have really good pacing and art.

Sugilite seems pretty reckless. I have a feeling that the gem fusions don't really have a conscious that really has feelings that don't contribute towards it's objective. I thought it was cool that Sugilite was so unstable since it partially calls into question how correct Garnet is about her decisions. I'm hyped to see how a fusion between her and Pearl would work. I'm guessing smaller and tactful since the fusion didn't need to be careful, just HUGE.

Yeah, sort of streamline almost or something fast but strong. Opal was big and graceful but definitely not as big as Sugilite. So perhaps any combo between Peal and Garnet would be a medium between the two other fusions. If they always need a specific fusion for specific jobs, Sugilite for smashing, Pearl and Garnet seem like they'd be an opposite to that. So smaller and with a better head on her shoulders. That does make sense. With Sugilite's brute strength it would make sense for her to be so huge and bulky. Garnet/Pearl's fusion is likely to still be huge although not quite as gigantic, but still sleek. I think she'll be the most competent of the 3 since she'll be a combination of the brains and the brawn.

Yup, that's what I was thinking! Though this isn't totally counting what a fusion between Rose Quartz and the others would have been like but the temple seems like a hint to what we'd see? A cool extra face with a forehead gem from Pearl, heart/chest gem from Amethyst, the gems on the palms from Garnet and Rose Quartz's big, big hair. If the temple is to scale, looks like their fusion would be the biggest of them all. And that more than just two way fusions are possible.
But getting back to the original point, yeah. A Pearl and Garnet fusion would probably be an equal combo of the physical strength Pearl would need and the tactfulness Garnet needs, just to balance them out.

To be fair Amethyst doesn't provide brute strength Garnet does (given she's the most physically powerful), Amethyst seems to provide the raw emotion that overwhelms normally neutral Garnet. Hell that's how their mindsets are setup:

Garnet = No emotion
Amethyst = All base impluses
Pearl = All control

I expect the fusion scene to make it into a bunch of "dirty stuff you didn't notice as a kid" articles 20 years from now

To be fair, most of responses to her post ranged from saying that she's reading into something that's not there to outright calling her a retard, and in spite of the social justice guys on tumblr being really vocal and the majority of the userbase being left-leaning, that seems to be par for the course whenever someone accuses a show with a big enough fandom of being racist.

I was referring to the mega block falling apart, most people don't relentlessly hunt the internet for episodes of their favorite kids shows so i don't think the ratings will hurt too bad for the leak.

I think the thing I'm not too fond of with this episode is that we didn't really focus on Garnet and Amethyst. Pearl has the focus of a lot of episodes, and she has a pretty fleshed out character. We know almost next to nothing about Garnet. With Giant Woman the focus was on Pearl and Amethyst fusing, with this one the focus was on Pearl questioning how strong she was. I would've liked to see more of Sugilite. But this was still a good episode, don't get me wrong!

Don't forget, this is the first Pearl-centered episode that was just about Pearl. Giant Woman was more about Pearl and Amethyst, and Steven the Sword Fighter didn't actually have much of Pearl in it outside the first few minutes. They're taking their time, everybody's going to get their time in the spotlight by the time it's done.
