>>62615854
season two had kinda a weird progression. I love the wakfu series but a lot found season two to be less enjoyable. I probably liked season 2 more than one personally. It picks up a lot more at the end and some key episodes in between. i felt its start and finish was strongest though. middle was a little weird.
>>62615909
Its start was okay, but why did Amalia suddenly go all "huge bitch" at everyone? Even after they get Grovy back, she acts way more haughty than she used to, it just feels weird.
>>62615854
Adamai is an ugly shit, and its widely accepted.

>>62615854
I personally liked Season 2 more that 1, but after the "Save the World!!!" kind of conflict, people tend to forget that not every battle has to be a fateful epic one for the fate of the universe, and the main theme of Wakfu and Dofus is "Adventure" I say, just enjoy the ride, if you keep expecting for things to happen you'll only end up dissapointed pointlessly because the material is actually quite good.
>>62616368
Yeah, I guess 5 just kind of caught me off guard, especially since I was coming off of Nox and the first few episodes of S2. I just really disliked the humor going on.I kind of liked the transformation thing, those are always fun, but pigs, really?

>>62616486
>mistake character development episodes for filler.
My only complaint was that ep 5 was barely taking itself seriously, and wasn't even really that funny either. I loved Grovy's character development, but the episode just fell flat for me. Plus, they were doing that whole "post-victory in-fighting" thing at the start of the season.
Anyone got a download for the Goultard special? The subtitles are borked in the Season 1 download

It was definitely one of the best season finales I've ever seen, it could even be the end of the series for good And I wouldn't even be mad
>>62617615
Enjoyable but still kind of a clusterfuck.
In fact, finale (along with bellaphone island) summarizes what was wrong about season 2 imho. France3 put some restrictions on season 2 and Ankama, instead of accommodating to this or make the script more focused, just decided to cram as much junk in and hope it works.
After reading the plot summary of the OVA (first episode), it kind of feels like the same thing but it's going about it a different/better way.
>>62615854
The main issues of Season 2 are:
The season's villains don't overshadow the narrative the way Nox did. In fact, they're not really established as a threat until the season is 2/3 of the way over.
There's a bunch of stupid domestic drama at the end of the season that didn't really need to be there (and if you read the manga, it rears it ugly head again).
Some of the fight scenes aren't quite as ambitious from a technical perspective.

"Ankama" is basically French for "don't take this shit too seriously".
Nox had a hard life.
>>62615854
No, 1/3 of the season is shitty relationship drama. Enjoy.
>>62618807
Ep 23.
>>62618797
That's not what I was saying. My point was that one of the villains isn't identified as a villain until Episode 20 and the other one wasn't in a position to do anything until the last few episodes. By contrast, you knew that Nox was a villain from the beginning, and he made his presence felt throughout the entire season.

I'd say the first half of season 1 is more indicative of Wakfu's overall quality. The second half of season 1 is the aberration. Almost all of season 2 is similar. I'm not sure what happened to the writing, but no, it doesn't really get as good as Nox. They try, but it comes way, way too late, as they spend too much fucking time bullshitting around with miniarcs, one-off stories and introducing throwaway villains no one cares about. The core story only makes up about 15% of the whole season, and isn't especially impressive in comparison to the first season. It's fine, though.
The thing most like s1's second half is Dofus, which is genuinely touching and emotional at times, especially in the later part of the series, after you've gotten to know everyone intimately.
Wakfu does fap bait far better, though.
OP here. I'm on ep 14 now. I don't think it's quite as good as S1, but so far I'm liking what I'm seeing. Guess I just hit a bad episode before (to be fair, it wasn't even that bad, but much sillier than any other episode).
>ep 11 male Amalia and Eva
>Two waifus with husbando mode included

>>62615854
just like the first half of season 1 the first half season 2 is pretty much all world building for the most part

Warning, episode 15 sucks balls. 16 is incredible, thought.

>>62615854
Nah
Skip the Brakmar arc if you must continue.
The villains are pretty terrible. Remington shows up at points for no real reason at all, the party gets bloated with useless side characters, none of the characters get any stronger until the last minute, and the finale's just a set- up for a bad Dragon Ball reference
Season 1 > Dofus: The Treasures of Kerub >>>>>>> Season 2
>>62620494
I'd say it's quite the opposite, the first half of season 2 contains much more plot relevance than S1, which carried its plot relevant episodes a bit later, though naturally it had a couple at the start because you know, it had to.
All in all I liked S2 a bit more, though it has both the best, and the worst episodes.
>>62620515
This, I liked it, a bit of a change in mood, but a fair episode. But the cursed fountain, oh what an episode.
>>62622938
This guy has a point though, the finale borders on powercreep/powerelevel crap a tad too much and cheesy over the top moments occur.here and there.
It had its moments, but I did not like the general tone of it, and I hope they avoid such an approach in the future.
>>62616487

are you underage b&? are you lost? do you need an adult?
>>62623146
Yeah. That was a terrible story decision. Especially when Nox's arc and arguably the first season was how you should let go of the past and make peace with it. The fact that Eva was rewarded for not moving on from Grovy's death spat in the face of that.
>>62617615
Was there ever an explanation of why King Qilbylooked like a shark-rabbit man?
So I had this dream that the dubs were out and I was watching it. I can't remember much, but it was the episode with the musicians- and Ruel had this Eastern European/Slavic accent. I wanna say Armenian or maybe Romanian. Funny enough, it worked really well.

>>62625285
>Not liking the most bro guy of the party
>>62625285
Well I didn't like how he kind of hijacked the 2nd season. More than half of the episodes revolved around him.
>>62627198
What annoyed me even me about him taking up too much screen time was that Eva pretty much existed just to talk about or talk to him in s2. I liked him in s1 but now I'm just sick of him.
>>62627279
According to spoilers, he's set to save everyone in the first OVA as well.
>>62627304
I swear to God if that's the case...

>>62627329

>>62627386
>(despite her best efforts).
It's been a while since I watched the show so I could be wrong, but wasn't the extent of her "efforts" just looking at that demon killer and blushing a few times in that one episode?
>>62627279
Well I have to say I think it's somewhat understandable since you know, his grand departure made him somewhat of a focal point.
Granted this only really plays into the early part of S2. For the rest, it was sort of ham fisted.
>>62627441
Pretty much
S2 would have been better if Eva and Pinpin never got together
>>62616452
What media player are you using? VLC has problems with some of it, otherwise MPC plays everything fine on my laptop.
>>62627441
She did also have a crush on the masked boufballer as well. Interesting enough i don't feel like she has much respect for people who are in a relationship.
>>62627386
Honestly, i don't feel like she had much of a real arc in season 2.
>>62627584
Or in season one- of the cast, Amalia feels the most flat and static.
Yugo, Ruel, and Grovy are the ones who undergo the most change.
>>62627304
>>62627329
I thought it was more like he saveshis children.
>>62627279
I think I share that sentiment. In S1 he was kind of a cliché goofy character, but he held that role pretty well and still had knightly moments to redeem him. In S2 he's kind of over the top and of course all the relationship drama was just painful to watch.
>>62627411
>But he looks like a goat.
Now that you mention it...
>>62627584
>Honestly, i don't feel like she had much of a real arc in season 2.
It was mostly about being a leader. Like how she led the evacuation of the freed villagers in Rubilaxia and all but taking charge of the Foggernauts in order to close the ShuShu portal.
Paradoxically, she also tended to get her mitts dirtier this season such as when she tried to tackle the Voice Thief or when she prevented Marilyn from scoring the winning goal against her team at the cost of much bodily harm.
>>62627637
That involved reconciling with her family and "outgrowing" Eva to an extent; as a bodyguard at least.

Jesus christ, I realize the french section taking over the dofus series makes for delays but that's what you get for announcing things during creation/planning.
>>62631120
3 years later than originally announced?
Nah, they'll probably delay it again next year.
>>62631120

I found season two to be kind of okay, but nowhere near as good as the first one. I'm kind of afraid it was just a fluke at this point.
saw a WIP of dofus in annecy today. It looks bretty gud, but the directors are going full retard by not using their fully painted layout concepts in the final film.
>>62631716
Well it's all beyond me anyways, I haven't got the slightest hint of a clue to their organizations inner workings.
But yeah, Dofus 2016 it seems, for France.

Interesting, now pretend you're talking to a dumbass who's totally ignorant on this.
>>62631811
Not that I've been there either, but they remind me of a company I worked for for a while. The boss would come see me, tell me to drop what I was doing for now and give priority to some other assignment. Then a few days or weeks later he'd come with another assignment, tell me the same thing about that one. And when I asked about the other priority, "Oh I don't think we need that anytime soon."
Unsuprisingly they're now down to two employees, from a dozen back then.
>>62631812
Naw, it's going to be more like Ogrest's chaos based on what I saw, especially animation-wise.
I just don't get why Ankama got their artists to do fully realized layouts that weren't even going to make it into the final film from the start. it's completely counter-intuitive
>>62631922
unless they've been doing this from the start and everyone already knows, in which case hurr durr I'm fucking stupid.
>>62631752
I don't know man, I think there were some really brilliant episodes in S2, and some bad ones (I'm looking at you silence of the rings and wabbit island).
In all honesty, wabbit island seemed more like a reason to have a mini-wakfu episode or something, and a mini wakfu in that vein could work absolutely fine but it just doesn't suit the main series very well.
>>62631922
So it's more like this...
>>62632046
...than this?
>>62627386
The OVA has some shipping moments withYugo. but it still doesn't overshadow the story. I think she'd be the kind of wife who sleeps around, anyway. Ankama loves to make infidelity jokes. Guess it must be French culture.
>>62632058
>>62632046
I don't get what point you're trying to make, but it was way more like the second poster.
>>62631914
Well as for them shifting priority to the dofus series I believe it might have something to do with there possibly being a contract for it and there being another party in the mix that expected it to be done. And with the japanese/french cooperation simply not working out, that might be what prompted a neccesary swich.
Mind you this is of course only speculation with a hint of qualified guesswork. Their management and organization could still be in shambles for all I know.

>>62631752
Part of me wonders if Ankama knows what made season 1 so good. Or maybe they do and they're trying too hard to copy it's success.
Like some plot points and characters in the OVA reminded of stuff they already did in s1, s2, and even the franga.
>>62632285
I'm not trying to imply anything other than that I think you're reading into what I'm saying a bit too much.
I think the film looks great at the moment, I just don't get why they can't use layouts they've already finished and speed up the production of it.
>>62632370
What layouts?
>>62632321
Only major problem I had with S2 was the over the top anime-tier stuff that occured, granted not foreshadowing the villain as much (rushu doesn't imo really counts, he was introduced not foreshadowed) as well as a few other tidbits were negative but overall I think they got the moderate adventurous feeling down, and then things got out of hand on occasion, which I just don't like at all.

There are some things I like a lot better about season 2- like Sadlygrove.
In season one, he was a one note joke. Incompetent, over-confident, stupid, and aggressive. Only time he showed any prowess was under Goultard and in the finale- where he ended up getting killed by the Chaos Dreadnought. In season two, he FELT like a Knight. He was still brash and impetuous, but he had martial skills to back it up. Plus, he actually had to slow down and think things through on occasion. He felt like a functional party member instead of an albatross.
Anyone have a good place to get Dofus?

>>62642741
I don't know. Given the situation, I wouldn't be surprised if all remaining Mechasms threw themselves at the Eliatropes, but then again as far as I remember (from just playthrough videos) most of the enemies in the game are a different race subdued by Orgonax and not actually Mechasms. So there may well be more of them.
>>62642741
Orgonax was the only one that cared enough to chase the Eliatropes because Qilby literally stole his heart.
>>62642904
Actually, the Lu-Fus were victims of the Eliatropes' planet draining schemes and joined up with Orgonax to get some payback. Their captain, Odo, is just in it for the Wakfu though.
>>62636451
To the detriment of everyone else's development and the season's pacing.
>>62643027
Yeah but let's be honest, they got the short and shitty end of the stick in that deal. They're still Wakfu-depraved and getting killed on the front lines. Orgonax and Odo don't seem to me like they give a fuck about their fate.
>>62643065
I think it's a little unfair to blame the character of Grovy and/or his fans when i think it's Ankama's writing that is to blame. For instance, i think Ankama just could not figure out what to do with the other characters.
>>62643335
You can also blame Ankama for making Adamai an ugly and annoying character. That doesn't make him less ugly or annoying.
Of course it's not Grovy's fault. He's a fictional character. He didn't do anything.

>>62616564
Totally agree.
This is the bad thing about Wakfu series. They basically have maybe 4-5 episodes per season where they bring their writing chops out for a tour de force. Otherwise it reverts to silly episodic things that just don't hold a candle.
Its fine if the silly episodes are infrequent but they happen, and after end of season 1, you really have to hold them to a higher standard in season 2.
>>62644689
The thing about season 2 is that france3 forced Ankama to make half of the season have non-plot/filler episodes.

>>62644689
Eh, I feel it's the easy way out to just go "derp executive meddling, france 3 demanded" etc. yes it has an influence but ankama should be accountable for what they do with that.
And sometimes it just doesn't turn out great, sometimes it does, heck some of my favourite episodes are what people say are fillers. But I'd like to think they have somewhat of an idea what they're doing and are capable of bringing out good writing and animation to go along with it, and I think that shows in the show. And Adrián their comic guy seems to be able to put out some real quality as well, and did a wonderful job with Tangomango imo.
But to write of the times that it doesn't, as someone else's fault, is a cheap and not fair.
>>62647307

So, how's the teen pregnancy rate in France? If they put so much sexiness in their kids shows, then surely it's a Teen Mom baby makin' bonanza set against a horrifying child support ridden ecenomic wasteland, right?

It's more of a weird issue with Europe than it is America, as the rest of the world is more or less in the same general rate.
Whether that's cultural or statistical, who knows.
>>62644527
>>62654467
Really, looks specifically like Germany, Sweden, France and that general area are the outliers. And those earlier graphs were cherry picking the lowest rate countries in Europe. Most of the rest of them are either in 20-40 range. Or worse.

I wonder what script this actually is, though. It's not the same as the rest of the text seen in the Sadida kingdom.
>>62661854
>>62661871
>>62661854
Possibly a Cra-only script?
>>62661935
That would be my first guess too. I'll probably identify it as such for the time being.
In a sense, that makes it that much more impressive that Grovy was able to read it.
>>62661854
There's one for the Sadida Kingdom, one for Brâkmar, one for Mork (also used in Kerub's books), and the one we just talked about.
I have the Brâkmarian alphabet written somewhere on a post-it.
>>62661935
Nah, Sadida. When Ruel is stuck in jail in the Sadida Kingdom, there's written something like "if you read this you're dumb" with those letters.
>>62662039
>Nah, Sadida.
What do you make of the screenshots I posted a few minutes ago, then? They don't look like anything else in the series. A few of them look close to old Greek letters IIRC.
>>62662104
They look appropriately rustic as well for a plant-based race.
>>62662104
Well... if I'm correct, the last screenshots you posted were written in Sadida, just like this one.
>>62662213
Wait I think we got confused. We were talking about Eva's book being (possibly) a Cra script. Everything does point to the other screenshots being Sadida.
Sometimes I wonder just how much time goes into just all of these little things
>>62662295
Is that also Ruel's cell? I can't remember.
Oh by the way, if someone wants to make a clean copy of those Sadida symbols too, that would help me run some tests and try to crack them. I think I tried once but didn't get anywhere.
>>62662329
Thats Anathars cell as far as I know
>>62662445
Seems to make sense. Probably close enough to Sadida territory since they had left only recently.
>>62662271

The crusades took way more out of the progress of humanity than any religion ever benefited.
The fall of Rome and the preceding dark ages set humanity's technological advances back at least 1000 years.
Technological advances spurred by religions were good, but a true scientific revolution didn't take place until the mid 17th century, where we figured out a lot more shit than the previous 5000 years combined.
Religion only helped the old world after it destroyed it, and you're mistaking the Technology learned under religion for the Technology only resurfaced after it was done choking it to death. Literally everyone agrees that without the destruction wrought by Christianity during the Medieval and Dark Ages, the world would be 1000 years more advanced. The things learned by religion in the following thousand would essentially amount to nothing.
>06/05/14(Thu)22:37:18 No.246693628

>>62658826
Slowpoke response, but having Maskemane in the OVA might even out the wakfu to dofus character ratio. I mean, the ova feels like it should be called the dofus special featuring wakfu characters.
>>62652627

Is he from Treasures of Kerub or something? Google tells me he's a boss in the MMO, but I'm not quite sure beyond that.
>>62671182
He is a boss in the MMO and he also plays a role within the lore of the world of twelve.
What you should know about him is:
He's a Xelor
He's the Lord of Frigost (A frozen land)
That's it

Okay. I wasn't sure if it was something big I missed in one of the shows or a dude like Ogrest where it'll just explain it during the episodes themselves.

There really isn't much I know myself, I believe the only part of their history we know is when it mixes with that of the Eliatropes. I don't think Les Gardiens had the time to get into that part of their history, and I don't have access to Islands of Wakfu other than playthroughs so I'm probably not the best qualified person to add more.
That reminds me there was someone who had played LG that said they would post more about the Eliatropes on the wiki but then I never heard from them again. I only tried the second game for a few days and now they're both offline I believe, so I'm missing a lot of info.

They're almost diametrically opposed in terms of personality.
>you will never wrestle with Cleophee
>>62679733
Ooooh, that was me. Didn't play the game, just got info from French fansites and did a little Google Translate. I need to step up my game...
>>62679733
Yeah I reckon they don't have much of an individual history. But I can't help to wonder if they said how the war was started, and there was apparently something about Orgonax having his heart stolen by Quilby.
>>62630272
>what's under Joris's hood
Nothing. That's his face.
>>62679780
That's all in Islands of Wakfu, though.
>>62679780
I thought I'd written about that in the Eliatrope article, but apparently no, I just brushed the subject on the Timeline.
The tl;dr version is that the Mechasms moved to the Eliatropes' original planets and they coexisted peacefully for a while. ThenQilby stole Orgonax's heart, who I believe was the youngest Mechasm at the time (if that changes anything), to make the first Eliacube. The Mechasms found out, although the rest of the Eliatropes didn't know what had happened, and launched the war on them.

Oh I see. Yeah I've seen the wikis for the two LG games, but it would be quite a project on its own to go through them and rewrite the info on ours.

>>62679837
Well now I know I guess.
Thanks a bunch.

What's funny is that there's little tidbits beyond the in-game notes, like some stuff on the different hats you can craft and even some lore on Mr [copyright infringement] in Dofus (the hail set). I just wish Ankama were a little better with keeping different stories and lore going instead of dropping things halfway. I mean, what happened to all those sub-factions in Wakfu, the Daughters of Dathura, the followers of Ogrest, etc. It sounded cool and then just vanished and they introduce new stuff instead.

Feels bad man.
>>62680190
Yeah, it's pretty harsh to get our hopes up then demolished every time.
What would be really awesome is if they'd release their encyclopedia they use for developers and staff, or at least the parts of it that have been revealed in one medium or another, but I doubt that will ever happen.
>>62680253
Right, they have the lore bible thingy, I reckon.
Remember when they were talking about Starfu, the third era/game? Wonder if that's still in the pipeline.
>>62679738
I still have some Maude images left.
>>62680190
Yeah they need to sit down and sort these things out and give them a bit more followthrough, show that there's something more to it all and that all those things aren't forgotten.
>>62680330
> starfu
I admit, the name doesn't dazzle me.
> simone's feet taste like cheese
Interesting, I would have guessed glace au four.
>>62680330
Huh, I'd think they have plenty to explore (lore related at least) in their two current time periods. Then again if they want to make some game by all means.
>>62681357
We're not getting Slage, though. That looked promising, since I'm not big on RPGs.
>>62681085
Yeah, at least the previous two didn't sound alike.
Oh, found something in the franga I overlooked, Maude going commando!
So what happened to Nora, wouldn't she be pretty gone due to not being with the other eliatropes that ran? Unless they took her dofus with them so she could reapawn later.
>>62682435
Haven't seen anything about her since Islands of Wakfu. I doubt she's completely dead, but I suppose it could take as long for her to respawn as Yugo for the same reasons.
But there's the chance that whatever you want to call what she did annihilated her in the process.
>>62681840
I've been meaning to read it for the longest time but I hear I'm not missing much of value, the other cpmics have generally been good though. But no colour is kind of a downer.
>>62682509
If her and Efrim's dofus is still around, then she's not annihilated, at least.
>>62682579
If it was in color, it would take even more time to come out and it's already a yearly release.
As for the franga, i would say read it if you don't have anything to do. It's not a terrible read and there are some cool moments, but i say it's generally lackluster. Then again, it's still pretty early in the story. I'm sort of hoping things turn over in tome 3.
>>62684026
I hope the OVAs reference it and Adamaistill has his pet Shushu.
>>62684060
I don't know about that, they said the OVAs would be easy to watch for people who don't already know about Wakfu.
>>62686610
I don't know how well that's going to work with characters like Harebourg showing up. While i guess the ova can take the time to explain his backstory and motivation, it feels like you should have played dofus to understand him.
