In the 90s there were multiple western mecha cartoons, some were good but they never lasted more than a season.

People forget that Gundam is more about the social and political events driving the plot than the giant robot fights and you can't have a show simply about giant robots because that shit gets old after a while

HBO's Spawn doesn't have schway as its main focus, but the universe has a sort of cyberpunk-ish feel to it.
