It has a nice overall aesthetic and I like how it isn't afraid to tackle stuff like drugs and murder, something most kids shows try to avoid. However, I find the story telling to be incredibly dull and primitive

Rebecca Sugar's heavy stamp on the writing of the show during season 3 and 4 was a mistake. Now people always that specific aspect made by the writer because it was the most impactful, so that they start either ignoring or hating other aspects that made Adventure Time interesting in the first place.

I don't agree with them but I see the point of view they are coming from.

They were expecting it to be more of a Marceline's origins story with tons of sentimental and emotional events that formed the character that way it is now, but instead was for the most part closer to what you could expect from a s1-2 episodes with some occasional feel moments in it.

For what it is I really loved it (last episode and some bad songs aside), especially after the clusterfuck that was season 6.
