"The fictional heroes of the past, while still retaining all of their charm and power and magic, have had some of their credibility stripped away forever as a result of the new sophistication in their audience. With the benefit of hindsight and a greater understanding of anthropoid behavior patterns, science fiction author Philip Jose Farmer was able to demonstrate quite credibly that the young Tarzan would almost certainly have indulged in sexual experimentation with chimpanzees and that he would just surely have had none of the aversion to eating human flesh that Edgar Rice Burroughs attributed to him.As our political and social consciousness continues to evolve, Alan Quartermain stands revealed as just another white imperialist out to exploit the natives and we begin to see that the overriding factor in James Bond's psychological makeup is his utter hatred and contempt for women. Whether most of us would prefer to enjoy the above-mentioned gentlemen's adventures without spoiling things by considering the social implications is beside the point. The fact remains that we have changed, along with our society, and that were such characters created today they would be subject to the most extreme suspicion and criticism."
Interesting discussion last time, I really dug some of the works, the James Bond devling especially
I think that there are some notable examples of people taking the premise of a work and extending its implications. Grant Morrison with New Xmen,Dwayne McDuffie on JLU or the Star Wars Clone Wars crew all took the raw ideas of there IPs and rather that radicallly altered them, took them at there value and built stories around them. That is "Bad Mooring"is someone saying Ray Gun steve isn't scientifically accurate. "Good Morring" is when you point out how ray guns destroyed the rifle industry and how that affected arms and war.
It doesnt need to be strictly textual either.Co for example has pointed out how utterly fucked Legend of Korra was.
>>77979278
Alias and Jessica Drew are an example of that. You have this goofy silver age mind control villian but his effects on people is real hardcore shit.
I love Alan Moore's writing. It's utterly fantastic.
>>77979278
I didn't catch the last thread regretfully. I think both extremes have their place today. Sometimes I want to read the mindless exploitations of silver age heroes or pop culture icons. Sometimes I want to read something that challenges my thinking in a new way. People normally wouldn't attribute the latter to comics. But comics have become a good medium to explore the consequences of what I consider very pulpy science fiction topics. They can take really silly things, drop them into the real world, and then explore the consequences very seriously.
Speaking of Moore, I've finally been reading before watchmen and the minuteman line had some really dark introspective and scary topics. Poor nite owl is just an average Joe who's life becomes tormented over time simply because he wants to help people. It's really depressing and simultaneously really turns me off from reading things like justice league or superman.
What are some characters that are just pure chaotic fun, anything similar to Lobo, Joker, Jinx, Deadpool. I'm looking for a character that is pure id and fun, not necessarily chaos incarnate.
Harley.
What comic/cartoon is Jinx from? She looks like a qt.
>>77979053
It's a League of Legends (MOBA game) character.
Get Jinxed.

>MCU Spiderman
>>77978792
>will look something like this 99% of movie
>adopts regular spidey costume in last 30 seconds
>MAYBE only before final battle, but no earlier than that
calling it now
>>77978792
No
EW or some news media shitters such as that caught a glimpse of the suit on set when they visited the production
he has a normal Spider-Man suit
>>77979013
Either they show pics, or they need to shut the fuck up.
So given Transformers is one of those classic IPs that are constantly renewed, how would /co/ do the next TF franchise. What new angle to explore would you like to see.
>>77978623
War on Cybertron. No humans. Competent writers. Something like War Within.
>>77978623
do whatever you can to piss off the fandom.
which is pretty much everything.
A routine patrol with four bots in stasis years later awake in the strangest of places.
>DC finally release an animated film that isn't complete generic tripe
Didn't see that coming. Can we take a moment to talk about how good this was?
>>77978556
Sure.
Honesty, I think this is what Timm needed all along. In this new movie, this new universe, he isn't all too constrained as he was before. So you don't have a league that feels at half strength, and it's interesting to have a completely different Batman this time.
>>77978556
It wasn't
>>77978556
it was platinum.
I'm not sure if this has been talked about or pointed out, but I just noticed this today.
>Broadcast across the universe, the Omega Men reveal a beaten and restrained Kyle Rayner. They make their intentions clear as they kill the former White Lantern. Now the universe is on watch and the hunt for the Omega Men begins. The line between good and evil is blurred in this part of the galaxy, and you do not know who to trust. Please Omega. Collects OMEGA MEN #1-12.
>Omega Men #1-12.
>The Complete Series
welp. Not surprised but still. Kind of bummed its only getting a paperback release though.
>>77977562
Anon, it was originally cancelled at 7 and the only reason its going to 12 is because of the fan outcry.
There's no way in hell it was ever going to go beyond 12 when it didn't even have the sales to get past 7.
I just hope it includes the preview pages they put out since that gives pretty important context for the first issue.
People heard 12 issues, didn't buy issues because trades and later everyone wonders why was book cancelled.
>>77977562
>Kind of bummed its only getting a paperback release though.
Well, Dial H did get a deluxe HC a while after the two trades were out... I mean I wouldn't hold my breath or anything but you never know
>Let's say you are in charge of the MCU, from the beginning.
>What things you would put, add or delete?
What i would do:
>Make a deal with Fox and Sony. They can do their stand-alone movies, but they will be connected in some way to the Marvel movies.
>Keep Andrew and Emma as Peter and Gwen. Hire a GOOD director and the writers from Spider-Man 2.
>The X-Men trilogy will start with Days of Future Past, then First Class and finally Apocalypse. No Wolverine movies.
>Let Peyton Reed make his Fantastic Four movie with Mikkelsen as Dr. Doom.
>Place Cap 2 before Iron Man 3. This will explain why no one helped Tony.
>Make a deal with Tarantino so he can do his take on Iron Man on part three.
>No villain with great potential will die.
>Five crossover events: The Avengers, Rage of Ultron, Civil War, Secret Wars, Infinity War. Give a proper build up to the second one, maybe make Ultron appear two movies before the event as a JARVIS companion who slowy evolves into a killer AI.
I'd make six hour long epic based on Marvels.
>>77977489
This
>>77977489
See that'd be interesting, and they could tell the story right with adequate characterization. On top of it once they are donw you don't have to make a billion of them, just like 3 and it will encapsulate the marvel universe on film
Is this any good?
S'alright
As far as Robin books go
Grayson>Robin: SoB>WaR>>>>>>RH/A
Seriously, RH/A needs to be given to Doyle as far as editorial goes, I don't get why its stuck with the weird editorial group
>>77977315
It's pretty good if you can handle other races in comics
>>77977344
Might not mean anything, even Doyle has a shit book in Harley under him.
Which had better stories, which had a better art style?
B:TAS
B:TAS
Except for Joker and Catwoman I liked the TNBA redesigns more.
I haven't seen episodes from either recently enough to say which I prefer for stories.
If they ever made a new Fantasia movie, what kind of music would you like to see appear?
Definitely one of Prokofiev's symphonies for me.
Music For 18 Musicians or In C. Disney tackling minamalism would be cool.
>>77977174Hip hop.
Oh I'd love that, maybe some contemporary composers, like Nathan Johnson.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7HO3WgyV6TY
So I started trying to read New Avengers (vol 1) recently with almost no context and goddamn is it hella fractured. It goes from the Civil War to Hawkeye sleeping with Scarlet Witch for a single issue to suddenly everyone's a team again and there's no reference to how they got back together.
Assuming I'm unfamiliar with the 5 years of marvel canon before it, is there some reading order I should be looking at?
okay I mean I know marvel kind of sucks but does noone on this board read it?
seriously the whole thing starts with some prison break and they start a group to figure out what it's all about and that story doesn't even get resolved before to other stories cut in and 25 issues in there's been so much jumping around
why do Marvel have to be so difficult about making shit clear

You niggas all need to make like a 2 million year old watchdog.
I just realized I haven't seen anything posted about Spiderman on /co/ since Superior ended?
What has been going on? Spider-Gwen or something?
Actually while you're at it, what's the current Batman ongoing?
Is Gordon still Bat-Iron-Man?
>>77976609
I don't know what's going on with Batman, but let's see if I can sum up what's been happening with Spider-Man. A lot of this is going from memory, so if I make any mistakes, I'd appreciate it if people set me straight.
>it's up to Peter to keep Parker Industries running now that Otto's dead
>Anna Maria finds out he's Spider-Man
>he tells her everything that happened with Otto
>he finds out a girl called Cindy was bitten by the same spider that gave him his powers (it no longer died immediately after biting him)
>she was kept in a hidden bunker by Ezekiel to prevent Morlun and his family from finding her and carrying out a plan to kill every Spider in the multiverse
>Peter doesn't realise this until he's already let her out
>Felicia and Electro team up to kill Spider-Man
>Peter and Cindy (who starts calling herself Silk) team up to stop them
>Peter tries to prove to Felicia that it was actually Otto that screwed her over
>she doesn't care and just wants to be a crime lord now for the sake of it
Will continue in another post.
>Morlun's family learn that Cindy is loose and force an entity called the Master Weaver to open portals to other universes so they can kill any Spiders they find there
>they're doing this because a prophecy says the Spiders will kill them 1000 years from now unless they prevent more from coming into existence by killing three special Spiders: The Bride (Cindy), The Other (Kaine) and the Scion (Benjy, Mayday's brother from Earth-982)
>the Spiders eventually team up and are led by Peter and Otto (who got sent to the year 2099 when the Horizon building was destroyed and ran into present-day Peter while trying to get back to his own time)
>one of Morlun's brothers, Karn, decides to side with the Spiders since his family banished him after he hesitated to help capture the Master Weaver and got his mother killed as a result
>Benjy gets sent back to Earth-982 and Otto kills the Master Weaver to prevent him from letting Morlun's family go after Benjy
>they manage to trap Morlun's family in a bunker on an irradiated world with nothing but actual spiders to eat
>Otto gets sent back in time with no memory of what happened
>Secret Wars happens
>eight months later, Peter has operations all around the world and is
>unknown to him, Norman is selling weapons to the leader of an African nation who's at risk of losing influence over his people due to Peter's philanthropy
>meanwhile, Otto has kept a copy of his mind inside the Living Brain
There you go.

>>77978089
Geez thanks, that's alot, now I just need to google Morlun
>Gets emotional sendoff where he assists GL in saving reality, takes revenge on the Guardians for setting off the whole chain of the events that created his pain and the villains, decides to fuck off from the universe forever
>Is implied to be redeemed and secretly be a GL member again in the future
>Gets beautiful sense of finality to his character arc
>Literally appears again like two months later and gets an ongoing
I'm not autistic enough to think that no writer should have ever used Sinestro again ever for the end of eternity, but you'd think they'd at least shelf him for a few years to let GL #20 stand as the "final Sinestro story" for at least a little bit.
Was it Johns? Because Johns does that a lot.
>>77976133
They really should have shelved him for at least a few months, but I guess they had to keep his momentum going with Forever Evil and his ongoing
You can pretty much take GL #20 as an ending and pretend everything afterwards is a different timeline or whatever tho
Does anyone have the cap (or know the issue) where Sinestro is in a science cell and basically admits to starting the Sinestro Corp war so that the GL's could get some balls and get rid of the no kill law?
Has this been translated yet?
