Hey /co/, as someone who is relatively very new to comics, could someone tell me what's happening with the marvel universe?
>What is this Secret Wars thing?
>How does it tie up to the complete reboot marvel planned for 2015?
>What comics do I start reading from if I want to get into the universe?
>Is there a chronological order to the new universe?
Sorry I'm a newfag and I want to change that. Any help would be appreciated
I don't know shit about Secret Wars, but there's no Marvel reboot. They just renumbered a bunch of books at #1. You can just jump in with what looks cool. Vision has been great so far.

>What is this Secret Wars thing?
Marvel's big summer event. Multiverse died, Doom became God, grabbed a bunch of pieces from sporadic alt-universe earths and slapped them together into a new Battleworld which he rules with an iron fist. Some people survive the collapse and try to overthrow him. It was supposed to be over in October but because the artist is so slow, it hit a bunch of delays and now the last issue isn't coming out until the 13th.
>>How does it tie up to the complete reboot marvel planned for 2015?
There was never a complete reboot planned for 2015. Marvel never called it a reboot and explicitly said it wasn't a reboot, but everytime a major event happens at Marvel, the same clickbait sites and retards on /co/ start screaming "IT'S A REBOOT." I'll guarantee that people will be screaming "It's a reboot!" after Civil War II and again after the 2017 even and again after the 2018 one and so on and so on.
>What comics do I start reading from if I want to get into the universe?
Well, they're currently in the middle of relaunching all of their books as #1s. If you want to get caught up on current stuff, that's your best bet. I'd recommend checking out Vision, Ultimates, Totally Awesome Hulk, Sam Wilson: Captain America, and New Avengers. If you're totally new to reading Marvel though, there's a bunch of older books that I'd recommend checking out first. So do you want to just get into the new stuff or do you want to get into the universe as a whole?
>Is there a chronological order to the new universe?
No. All the new books take place 8 months after Secret Wars.
>>78101627
I have read a bunch of the previous stuff though. Not too much, but a bit. This time I was particularly looking to get into the newer stuff. What is the deal with these new #1's? I remember seeing a new Daredevil design and Thor is now a female etc. So I'm just pretty confused with where the canon universe stands.
Look at DC they can't even do one of their classic story lines
>Needs more "X"
>quick add in "y" to set up for next movie
>let's make a cameo by "z"
More villains more more more...because it worked so well for Spider-Man3
Enjoy your Doomsday both literary and financialy DKeks
You're not really good at this, are you?
Sooooo, just like Fox then?
Post a book, film or any non-drawn, non-animated title from any medium and other anons decide who would be the best design a animated series, film or comic book based on it.
>>78101343
I don't think anyone could really do that fucking book justice
fistbump of Wolfe fandom
>>78101343
>>78101388
I tried to read this series, I finished the first book but I really wasn't into it. Any advise?
Would you a Mrs. Bighead?
yeah
in the end she's still a cute simple cartoon
>>78101178
Where are you right now?
There's your answer.
>>78101178
Name me a frog girl I wouldn't fuck.
Is she right, senpai?
I know what you're trying to do here, but but's pretty obvious that they mean that the subject matter (Ratfink) is what's "low taste" not the fact that it's a cartoon.
Since Ratfink, I believe, falls under "LowBrow" art, I don't think the creators of it would even disagree.
>>78101411
But why would it "low taste" matter and how does it define. You started out good explaining, because i only posted it because i did not really understood why she would state that?
>>78101455
Taste is subjective. People writing this were looking at art from a pretty academic standpoint as I recall, so I doubt they'd have much appreciation for this sort of thing.
>There are people on /co/ RIGHT NOW who don't think that this was the best movie to come out of the Disney Renaissance.
Stay forever pleb
>>78100735
>Treasure Planet
>Disney Renaissance
Pick one.
Just post the guy who wanted to be the guy in OP already
Disney Renaissance ended with Tarzan
TP is the best movie of that weird period of transition between the Renaissance and the current CGI era
FUCK YOU FOX
FUUUUUUUUUCKKKKKK YOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUUU
>>78100416
See fox never had respect for him. When marvel killed him of cause of fox, fox was like let's just kill him since we can't piss of marvel
FUCK YOU
>>78100590
Are they going to make Wanda fall in love with Warlock or something since they don't have Vision
>WB'S GONNA FREAK
Bravo, Joker. Bravo.
>>78100363
It's over. DC is finished.
>>78100363
Huh? What's going on? Affleck's back tattoo has nothing to do with his role.
>>78100363
Yeah, they can't possibly hide tattoos with movie magic...
Carol Danvers when
>Marvel's first chance at a solo female-led superhero movie
>They immediately emphasize that their heroine is is straight, white, and blonde
Jesus fuck guys, come on. You have three women that have used the title, and you pick the blandest, most inoffensive one possible?
>>78100767
It's not like Phyla is that diverse. She just happens to be a lesbian.
>>78100280
Too old. They need mileage out of their headline actors. Unless they're RDJ.
I thought I had seen all the major (i.e. the very acclaimed/popular) Merrie Melodies & Looney Tunes shorts so how did I miss this all these years? I fucking LOVED IT and surely this had to be one of the first shorts to involve animated characters interacting in a live action environment and with live actors? So, it's probably wouldn't be going too far to use the sometimes overused term "ahead of it's time".
I wonder what was it like to be an animator in the 40's.
>>78100203
You were probably either pissed off at Walt Disney if you worked for him, or laughing at him if you didn't
>>78100203
It was wonderful filling. Animation studios were like countries inside of a country
>tfw I have a buyer for a cartoon show but have no ideas for cartoons
>>78099981
How can someone buy a cartoon that doesn't even exist conceptually?
>>78099981
Pitch them the breakfast club TAS.
>>78100054
Pitch them a show about Ally Sheedy being a slut that gets endless cummies

List characters that are victim of flanderization
Before anyone asks:
Flanderization
The process by which a single trait from a character is overstated and brandished to the point that it becomes the character's only trait. Flanderization is almost always for the worst and tends to draw viewers away from the the medium that the character represents.
>>78099831
>>78099853
Where does the word come from tho?
tfw it happened to jack spicer and Michelangelo
What does /co/ think about Anais?
Great character, very adorable.
No diddling, though it reminds me of a girl I diddle.
She's kind of the show's Lisa to speak. But done perfectly.
>>78099568
Another controversial character. Some fans like her because her appearance, some fans like her personality, some fans like her overall design. On the other hand, some fans hate her Mary Sue status, some fans hate her because she attracts lewd fans and pedos, and some fans hate her because she lacks in characterization.
