>Producer, director, and animator Tom Ruegger held an Ask Me Anything (AMA) on Reddit on Tuesday where the Animaniacs creator answered fan questions to celebrate the show's move on to Netflix.
>User "aznprd" asked what led to the decline of Warner Bros. cartoons, like Freakazoid, Animaniacs, Pinky and the Brain, and Tiny Toon Adventures. Ruegger responded that it was the advent of Pokémon.
>According to Ruegger, the Kids WB programming block struck a deal with 4Kids Productions to air Pokémon that was so cheap and, followed by the show's huge popularity, that they no longer wanted to to spend the money on programming.
>"Kids WB was handed Pokémon for free and it pulled down big numbers -- so then they wanted everything for free."

>"Kids WB was handed Pokémon for free and it pulled down big numbers -- so then they wanted everything for free."
He acts like Pokemon was cheaply made.
What did they expect? Pokemon was fucking huge at this point in time. Toys, games, cards, the movie merch at BK. It was one of the biggest 90s things in the west.
Kids back then didn't see it as anime, but compared to WB stuff is felt a lot more "mature". How can anyone be surprised that something they got for nearly free, that dominates ratings, pushes out the other expensive stuff?
As a kid, once I got hooked on the Pokemon fad like every other kid in my class, I considered all the shit like Animaniacs as kiddie dogshit that was wasting airspace that Pokemon could have been on, and all the other kids felt the same.

At the time it was, OLM's staff as well as the voice crew did get payed more later on as expected but kiddy fuller anime always cheaper then otaku bate hence why theres more otaku bate shows then kiddy fuller shows now of days.

An old hag is beautiful in this show's art style, there's nothing surprising here.
how can i read some old kirby xmen comics where theyre young kids and stuff
>>81827815
Start at page 1.
Jack Kirby had barely anything to do with the X-Men. Other than his clear influence on the Sentinels and Master Mold, I'm not sure he had much of an impact beyond drawing the first few issues.
I liked the post Viltrumite war stuff DESU, I think the comic has had some plenty consistently good writing and plotting, despite what others may say. not perfect, but always better then 95% of what the big two put out (Not like that's difficult...)

I've been thinking about trying to get into this. Is it worth buying or should I just locate downloads on Win-O/archive?
>>81827714
It's pretty good. One of the best non-Marvel/DC comics out there I'd say.
If you decide to buy, look into the omnibuses.
Would you read a Harry Potter comic?
>inb4 Books of Magic
are there any long running "magic wizard" shit comics that aren't capeshit?
I mean, you'd think something like DnD would be a license to print money, but the closest thing are a bunch of webcomics of varying quality.
Absolutely not. The books were great and fun to read. The movies were good, but cut out some content I enjoyed.
A comic would probably just be the movies in comic form. Same character physical appearances, location appearances, etc.
Just go read Books of Magic

IDW did some DnD comics before. They were alright, and some were really entertaining, but overall they just didn't do to well.
I think you'd probably be looking at Buffy/Angel-tier comics, though I'm not really sure you could sustain an audience since Harry Potter is aimed much younger than Whedon-smuggery
Will Secret wars ever be made into a feature film?
>>81827365
Yes. Only, it'll be a secret.
>>81827365
In phase 4 when they get the FF rights back.
> mfw when Doom steals Galactus's cosmic power and tries to kill The Beyonder

I've thought a lot about this and think this would be the best way to bring the X-Men into the MCU. Have both Earths get wiped from existence and have Avengers and X-Men be forced to fight each other for Ultimate power maybe have villians mixed into each group. In the end the heroes group together and restore Earth that contains both groups now.
I wonder, in older comics, what was the significance of coloring the whole, clothes included, of one color?
There's probably not a lot of "significance" involved. Odds are it was either a printing error or something the artist thought would look good.

Easier
It was cheaper and easier.

>How is Aquaman suppose to work in the Justice League? He's literally the most useless superhero ever made! How is talking to fish and breathing under water going to be helpful?
SIGH, Will this meme die?
aquaman is the reddit of superheroes
>>81824729
IMO, this is the stupidest Family Guy joke.
>>81824729
But he is. Next to Ant-Man, he's the most useless superhero ever.

I understand it when people get into legit technobabble but writers have people use the line with fairly simple shit, which is annoying.
Like someone will say something like
>we opened a wormhole to a parallel dimension
>ENGLISH PLEASE
