I don't know if there was a thread for this, so I decided to make my own. Anyway, the title speaks for itself. Comedy cartoons, especially these days, have a tendency to get screwed over by their networks, whether it's stuff like low ratings, low production costs, idiots from Tumblr running the production, fujos, Korea and so forth. Oh, there's still a few shows like Cocotama and Bakuon that are worth checking out, but many of them if not all of them tend to get poor treatment. The question remains as to what can be done to help comedy cartoons so that we can see them be intelligent again in the future. I am saying networks should take a more intelligent oriented approach but it's not a thread about the reception of those shows. I'm just wondering what can be done so that intelligent comedy cartoons will get better treatment in the industry. I have a few ideas of my own, but I want to open up the discussion thread first.

I know this is old news, but I only just saw it after avoiding all the info I possibly could. I assume everyone here agrees with me on my thoughts below, but I might be wrong- I don't know. This is the thoughts of a low level cape fan.
I think Affleck does a great job as Batman, and I think all the tech and the look if it all is also very Batman. In that same vein, whoever played Alfred, while physically different, is spot on character-wise as far as I'm concerned. Great job with all that.
Why does Batman kill people? He has, quite literally, two rules. No guns, and no killing. I guess you could say that he's so skilled that he makes sure the bullets hit non-vital areas? And that he just hadn't heard about his brand being a death sentence? But that seems unlikely considering he's supposed to be really smart and whatnot.
Didn't expect to see Flash like that. Really neat. Didn't think that would be their overarching plot they'd be going for. Confused as to why it was a dream sequence though? And what was up with the bug stuff? What, can he make Bruce see the future now? and he has Dream powers or something?
I don't want to pretend to be an expert on Ma Kent but it pissed me off when she said he doesn't owe the world anything. Seems in my admittedly limited opinion that all she and Pa Kent ever taught Clark was about doing the right thing, even when it's hard, and all that jazz.
I really really really really really REALLY wish Wonder Woman looked amazonian or at the very least even remotely muscular.
I always thought Lex Luthor was supposed to be charming- so incredibly smooth and manipulative that he could successfully win a presidential campaign. AKA, not a crazy nutter who can't keep it together throughout a short conversation.
I still really don't enjoy all the Superman worship and all this god talk, and acting like he thinks he's better or above anyone, or that he's an alien- for christ's sake he grew up in kansas.
Anyway. That's it.

Snyder wants to be a deeper director and writer then he actually is and so throws a lot of themes together and hopes they just sort of mix on their own.
BvS didn't feel like an actual full script to me, it felt like parts of multiple scripts hashed together into one whole film without trying to make underlying themes between them link up or anything between them make much sense.
A lot of the lines and dialogue were cool sounding but weirdly placed and sounded like they said purely to sound cool (or show up in a trailer) rather then make sense or organically fit into narrative or existing dialogues well.

Depends what you mean by authority. A character like the Punisher doesn't answer to governement authorities basically ever, but he does try to go along with their rules and even uses those to justify his choices (he kills people who are seen as criminals by law). Although I guess whether he's heroic is debatable.
There really aren't that many revolutionary heroes in capes because the status quo needs to be maintained somehow.

WHY THE FUCK IS HE WRITING COMICS?
Remember when he'd be waiting in the x-mansions science lab? Maybe upside down hanging from the ceiling by his feet and reading the works of Darwin or Shakespeare or something.
He'd have a bit of silly wisdom, or genuine advice, or help to be given for some scientific problem. He'd show his beastial side when the shit got thick but was otherwise a decent if not an occasionally surly man.
And then someone decided (i'm not sure exactly when) that he was the biggest asshole in the universe. He began jacking off into the space-time continuum while doing shit as fucked up as his apocalyptic 'dark beast' counterpart. And in fact being given shit for possibly becoming dark beast. He dragged a bunch of younger versions of the x-men (including himself) to the present just to inflict them upon cyclops in petty revenge. He became bitter, cruel, cold toward his friends, and sometimes downright stupid.
To the point where the x-men had to hold a goddamn intervention in order to confront him about being such a piece of shit.
And now hes not even on any x-team. Nah, hes hanging out with the inhumans as a distant third wheel to cure the m-pox. A disease that has rendered mutants sterile and is essentially destroying their race.
Beast yanked x-men from the past ripping apart the timeline and stranding them out of their time to torture cyclops for his actions that resulted inthe death of professor xavier...but is perfectly cool working with Blackbolt, the guy who unleashed the terrigen mists all over the world that are now resulting in the death of all mutantkind.

I think it's more of a company-wide issue sadly. I mean the number of characters who start acting like assholes for no reason besides the writer not liking them is staggering. Even characters with huge fanbases aren't safe (although they have more chance of the bullshit being ultimately retconned), and Beast was never that.

Yeah that's probably part of the problem, since most events nowadays include making one or more supposedly good guys act like assholes to drive the plot.
I'm not going to pretend they're actually trying, but even if they were, it can't be easy to both maintain the status quo that brought people over in the first place and change it enough that people don't get bored.
