Just wanted to post that Hugo is a thirsty ass beta and should be written out.

As far as I've seen, /co/ is pretty meh about the show. Some like it. Some dislike it. I love it. It's easy to watch. Some episodes are kind of a bore to rewatch unless I'm with friends who haven't seen it.

First off, no Ultron. It's too soon, and it did nothing but make Tony look like an ass that has no consequences to his actions. "Age of Kang" would've been better. They could've even tied in Thanos without shoving him in out of nowhere, showing that in the future he destroyed half of all reality and Kang's tech was forged in the remnants of that future. You could even tie Kang to Tony instead of Doom to avoid any copyright bitching.

But if Ultron had to be done, I would make him mysterious. The Avengers don't know where he came from, they don't know what he is. They figure he was a HYDRA product, but they can't trace his origin. I'd leave it open to them finally realizing that Pym made it as a peace keeping program, and Pym hid it away for decades as an embarrassment of his career after Ultron went rogue long ago. Antman didn't come out yet, so I know it's tricky, but it would at least allow for a strong connection between Hank and the Avengers later on.

Trash all the quips and make ultron compelling and not stark 2.0

I'm pretty sure "pedophile" was the original intention behind Cecil's character. He wanted to be on Krusty's show because it would get him closer to children.

By contrast, Bob ended up on the show instead but originally wasn't working for any ulterior motive. He's just homicidal but not sexually deviant.

Simpsons sure did break a lot of boundaries.

Here's the first place it really brings up her heritage in earnest, the concept of a "Chuvihani".

Most of the hits I get on this are from Pagan websites and the like, romanticised ideas white people have of Romani culture. It's definitely true there is folk magic within Romani culture, much of it shared with eastern europe in general(the balkan and slavic lands) but it's nebulous as to whether there's much of a concept of a "Gypsy Witch".

A more common term would be Drabarni - often synonymous with fortune teller(ni endings signify the feminine in Romanes). It was a popular profession especially among Lovari and Kalderash women, and remains so in some communities, though Gadje passed laws against it or otherwise made it difficult in various points of history.

The fortune telling was largely an incidence of profiting off the cultural stereotype. Being cultural outliers wherever they went, it was often necessary to rely on such professions to survive. In modern times it's very difficult for Romani people as a lot of their traditional professions have been taken out of their hands, especially thanks to the dawn of capitalism and the industrial revolution.

Drabarni are often thought of as general wise women, working with herbs and divination in much the same vein as other "witch" concepts. It's very difficult to discern the actual history from the romanticism. The Roma community and individuals I'm familiar with tend to be fairly heavily christianised. It's also important to remember that they are of South Asian origin and still retain many traces of Hinduism in their culture nearly a thousand years later.

So it's very hard to pinpoint the origin of a lot of these supposed traditions. Fortune telling and witchcraft likely has it's origins primarily in slavic cultures.

This seems to associate Wanda's traditional "hex" power, originally of her mutant heritage, with her Romani heritage. I don't know how to even get into how ridiculous this is.

When you're dealing with a series where magic is, in fact, real and tangible, and you have people from different cultures with their own folk magic traditions, it's a bit of a balancing act. You want for different cultures and traditions to be able to contribute, but you also don't want to rely on cultural stereotypes or just plain nonsense.

I don't feel this was a good job at a balancing act, again because it made too direct a connection between Wanda's powers and her heritage. Speaking of which...
