The gems do seem to have a certain style while fighting (Pearl has a more elegant and light feet like style e.g.) But non of them seem to have a fighting style that truly resonates with a certain fighting art. I do think it's too late to introduce something like that now though

I kind of like the episodes from around the first season, with the wonky animation and plots that mostly feel like a bunch of shit happening to/around the characters, because it adds to the sense of them being babies who don't know what the hell's going on.

but yeah, beyond those it's not something I want to rewatch. just felt boring and slow to me in a way that some other cartoons from around the same time don't.

Pretty much all the episodes after Dill arrived and before Kimi are GOAT and are rewatchable over and over.

I think what's even weirder here is that, barring Azrael Batman over there who is technically a different character with his own variation on the Batman costume, this lineup does not have any gimmick Radar Strike or Arctic Grapple or Neon Shuffle Batman figures.

I'm not sure I'd recommend Claremont's run for a new reader. Sure, it has most of the classic stuff, but it's also really 80's whacky and cheesy.

An alternative starting point is Morrison's New X-men and going from there.
