Since that Voltron remake is going over well, here's a question; of all series, why Golion?
It's a one-off super robot show that's never been held in high regard in Japan, yet here there have now been multiple remakes and people don't seem to want to forget it, despite, by all indications, there being nothing very special about it at all. Why is this?
Were a series like the original Mazinger to have been brought stateside, would the results have been the same? Mazinger was localized very accurately for South American and it was popular and still hasn't been forgotten. In the Middle East, it was Grendizer, in the Philippines you had Mazinger again as well as others like Voltes V.
So why Golion?
With the understanding that things like "super" and "real" robot don't exist, why shouldn't something like Xabungle, Dougram, etc. have come to the US?
Also potentially relevant, whhat can be said knowing that Mazinger ran for 90 episodes (it's pretty good!) as opposed to Voltron's ~50?

you not liking it doesn't mean it isn't special or whatever
The west (or the states, at least) doesn't have the same appreciation for giant robots so it's easier/more profitable to just reboot a series that has already succeeded and proven profitable than to get a new one going. that's why Pacific Rim flopped and the last original mecha cartoons we got off the top of my head were Symbionic Titan and Megas XLR. Meanwhile Transfromers gets a new series every year and movie 5 is incoming
I don't think Netflix has much in the way of toy deals so that may or may not be a factor but a Voltron set is under review by the Lego Group, so if that pans out we can expect to see that on the shelves early next year

Hey hey, I never said anything like that!
These are just the facts as far as I know. It really wasn't seen as special, if I'm wrong please tell.
Will the new Marvel videogame universe be the end of fucking console wars here?
You will have now have your SM, Doom, Galactus, F4, X-men, Deadpool all of those in a videogame shared universe. Each game will be probably 10 hours compared to the shitty 2 hours from each movie.
Can we finally move past give back the x-men rights once you get a cinematic colorful x-men game?
I sure hope so.

>new Marvel videogame universe
Where'd you hear that? Was it a particularly knowledgeable fart coming out of your ass?
Make Marvel Pokemon. You'll sell billions.
I really need more to be sold on this game. The past few Spider-Man games have been stinkers.
My fellow Anons,
Astrotrain has suggested we lighten our burden!
Jettison the /v/ and /tv/ threads.
>>83782983
Oh, so NOW you're serious about going on a diet. You should've started 200 pounds ago.
>>83782983
Maybe if he wasn't such a fatass we wouldn't need to lighten anything.
Captain America can Spartan kick trucks hard enough to send people flying, pull military choppers down, throw motorcycles through armored hummers, and over power Spiderman. He's stronger than Ironman in the movies.
Pic unrelated.
>>83782268
No. "Peak human dumb Batman" Cap is pretty boring. Making him clearly more than an olympian adds a lot to the character.
>>83782338
But he overpowered someone that caught a speeding SUV that's some higher tier strength.
>>83782433
He didn't overpower Spidey. He outfought him. C-class superstrength + genius fighting skill > B-class superstrength + amateur fighting skills + spider sense - awe
Hey /co/, i was just playing arkham knight with this cool ass red hood costume, but it literally occurred to me i know nothing about this guy. is there any recommended reading list you guys could suggest, also, what's your opinion on him /co/?
Read/Watch Under The Red Hood, and the whole Battle for The Cowl arc and DickBats and Damien.
>>83782052
>Death in the Family (optional, just be aware that Jaosn was the second Robin and he got beat to death by the Joker)
>Under the Red Hood (movie is better)
>Red Hood: Lost Days
That is it
>>83782052
That suit is unf. God I hate when they draw a weird fucking face on his mask.
you know, I'm sick of male characters and female characters being forced into a relationship if they even share a bit of screen time with each other. This movie made me happy they could finally have a male and female be best friends without fucking.
Oh yeah, you guys and Byron want to ruin that..
>>83781709
>a bit of screen time
But they were in each others company for nearly the entire movie.
>>83781709
It's our biological function to have our minds wired to focus on anything that leads to the eventual action of reproduction, even with a simple spark of shipping characters, where it only grows from there.
Literally eat an entire ass
What makes a female character good? What traits should and shouldn't she have?Which comics did it right?
>>83781313
I dunno, but does anyone have any idea if this book is dead or not? because its been quite a long time since the last issue.
fuck, Walter Simonson puts out an issue of Ragnarok quicker.. (theres actually a good chance thats not true. kek)
Multi-dimensional. Having experience with actual women and their lives so you're not just guessing how a woman would react. Knowing that they can be human too but at the same time face different pratfalls than men so you can't just write a genderless man in her place
>>83781313
Complexity, believability, compelling-ness. Same shit that makes good male characters.
What shows should he do next?
>>83781183
What happened
>>83781530
He's not showrunning anything in the future. Just writing some episoes of Shimmer and Shine and writing a World of Warcraft YA novel.
He was gonna do a show last year, but it got cancelled.
>>83781183
I wanna see that Space Ghost series he was gonna make a while back.
Otherwise, I could see him do some good with X-Men or Pacific Rim.
so why characters in the big 2 comics don't have special attacks or signature moves? you know like in wrestling or video games.
>>83781081
inb4 fastball special
But they do though

You'll take your DLC skin for Batgirl and you'll like it!
>doctor doom,magneto and kingpin mourning 9/11
ITT: Instances in comics where the actions were really out of character
>>83780104
Like Dr Doom has never attempted mass destruction before
>>83780133
Those were Doombots
This one in the panel was a Doombot too
In fact, you're a Doombot, Anon
I could see Kingpin being there
What with him living in NY and all
Great superman origin or greatest?
>>83779825
No. That's the most boring, predictable, pandering and outdated Superman origin. It reads like a bed time story that nobody needed to hear again. The Donner movies still exist, you know.
>>83779825
Birthright is best for being the only one to focus on the college years when everything actually gets invented or explained.
God God no
Am I crazy or was there a scene from evangelion with the exact same shot angle and pose?
>>83779324
Yes.
Even whatched it yesterday.
>>83779324
You're coo-coo crazy.
>>83779324
Shinji's father, 90% of the time. Pidge also looks like Ed from Cowboy Bebop (who was also a genius girl who thought she was a boy).
Question: Who here thinks corporate synergy is bad, and is putting a stranglehold on comic book writers, keeping them from writing good stories for the sake of profit?
Show of hands NOW!
Is synergy being forced upon writers or are writers such hacks that they include things from adaptions because they haven't read old runs? I mean look at black Wally, apparently they did that on their own.
You're no fun /co/.
