Up until around 2009 it was readable. Not great but it had a plot of sorts and it was a good time filler.
Then Jaques went full sjw retard, his cast exploded into like 30 women (all of them of which are either gay, fat, or have some type of mental diaorder) and sanitized it so no one would get mad at him.
I only keep up with it through /co/ at this point.

Late to the fucking party but goddamn Scott Snyder stinks.
Even though I'd been pulling and buying his Batman series I never got around to reading the Gordon-as-Batman arc. What a pile of crap. I don't remember the whole series being this bad but maybe I was blind.
Snyder basically writes fan fiction. The new characters (who the hell is this Julia bitch? And this Duke kid?) suck, and the dialog is extremely formulaic and unnatural with a flat voice applied to all characters (find a monologue where multiple sentences don't start with "see," or "truth is,"). And the concept of the story is dogshit. Gordon being Batman is a stupid idea, the Gundam-esque costume(s) suck and Mr Bloom is a confused mess of a villain.
The art isn't great either. Capullo is excellent at drawing inanimate objects and environments but his characters all look the same and have a very weird alien face. The bits drawn by Yanick Paquette are way better because the characters look like actual human beings instead of dead-eyed robots. And the action sequences are very hard to follow, too chaotic and over rendered.
Boo.

The fan speculation turned out to be more interesting.
Everyone was expecting some story of the spirits, possibly Koh, actually giving Amon powers to specifically stop the avatar or at least make humans weaker.
When he turned out to be a waterbender faking it people did not like it.
Also the last episode could have been its own season. One where Korra only had airbending had to go travel the world and relearn the other bending skills from masters all over again mirroring Wan's story.

I'd drop the bloodbending twist, amount the bending-robbing to nothing more than very advanced chi blocking. Don't develop Amon too much, he's not important in this story. What's more important is what Amon represents, the suppressed uprising. Focous on how technology has allowed non-benders to level the playing field with benders, and focus on the non-violent resolutions needed fix it.
