What exactly attracts certain shows to be very popular with OC characters? At least with Steven Universe and gemsonas, I understand. But why Homestuck trolls or Sonic OCs? Why is there no huge autistic fanbase making Wander or Gumball OCs despite having a fantastical world where anything can be a character? Why doesn't Adventure Time have it's own "Princess OC" fanbase?
Is it just lightning in a bottle and you never know what'll be popular to donut steel people?
These people probably imagine themselves as part of the world, or at least RP about it, so they need a vassal to do that with.

It helps when there's a theme, hierarchy, or missing/unreleased spots in an organization with finite members.
Steven Universe is popular because there are a ton of gemstones and the characters have diverse looks so it's a shoe in to create OCs. Homestuck trolls have identifiable horns, adherence to color, a computer username and mix and match classes which makes it easy to fill a template.
It's just like Sailor Earth in the 90s

>Why is there no huge autistic fanbase making Wander or Gumball OCs despite having a fantastical world where anything can be a character
Because there's no template. With things like homestuck and sonic, you already have a template to create a character. Same reason why something like Undertale doesn't have that much "original character do not steal" stuff despite the guy who made it having a connection to homestuck. A monster can be absolutely anything you want it to be, so it's a lot harder to make a fan character for it.
It had its chance.
I really had my hopes up, but after the embargo dropped I knew it was over.
It looks like Marvel wins. I hope Ben Affleck can at least scrape something together with the garbage given to him for the next Batman movie.
Stay mad.
>>83978818
DC's whole problem is literally just Snyder with his infatuation to drown an IP with a Frank Miller chaser. Come time when Ben Affleck directs & stars King Capeshit, it'll make more than any ensemble movie to come.
>>83978818
Marvel had its chance!
Obscure waifu/fetish episodes thread, GO!
I'll start
This is Evil-Lyn though.
>>83978877
She's obscure?
>Bendis shitting on based Clint again
>>83977916
Always has, Always will. And it's a fucking shame.
>>83977916
Where? What happened?
>>83977916
What did he do?
>character gets turned into an infant
>character is wearing a diaper
>character farts and says "i made poopy!" or some other joke involving shit
>mfw
>>83977748
T-Todd, are you okay?
>>83978022
Please buy his game, he needs money for a medical operation.
> shit tropes
Was this on purpose?
What are some comics featuring characters swapping genders? Preferably not that awful one with the guy who ends up a depressed slut because nobody would hire a bimbo with construction work qualifications.
>>83977529
Earth X Thor, nearly any modern Loki comic
I think there was one where Batman and Superman ended up in Huntress and Power Girl's bodies?
>not even posting cutest genderswapped Cyclops.
>>83977529
is she right?
Did this yesterday. Should have done it today: more traffic.
It's far from perfect, of course. What would you change?
>>83977303
What's negative with Enis and they are troubled? Preacher and Hitman don't really fit that.
>>83977353
Really? Tommy Monaghan, a hitman, and Jesse Custer, are not troubled individuals?
But I was more referring to his views on capes. You know, 'The Pro', 'Section Eight', 'The Boys'...
>>83977401
I meant why negative? They seemed positive books.
Actually explain your negative/positive intention?
now can we agree that this franchise needs to die?
>>83976889
they made another one?
Yes, but fucking wait until we get more than five reviews, christ.
Wait, there's 5th coming? What happened to 3 and 4? Last time i remember that there was dinosaurs or some shit.
MEANWHILE AT THE /co/ MANSION...
>>83976658
If it's anything like the X-men mansion, it explodes a lot. I'd say the most likely suspect is /tv/
>>83976658
GODAMMIT WHO DRANK ALL THE FUCKING MILK?
>/co/ mansion
might as well live in the worst part of gotham
dont even want to think about people having even minor superpowers
Could a kids show based on the Thief franchise work?
>>83976593
Hell no. Now fuck off back to /v/, you cancerous pile of rat shit.
>>83976593
I rather not, it would miss the point of the setting and the character and probably end up like star wars rebels shit.
only if its a stronk womyn teleporter and goth
so basically like raven
why is spunky scared in this promo art, they aren't watching anything scary
>>83976578
Maybe it's early promo art and Spunky was originally supposed to be a nervous pup.
>>83976578
You know they could just be watching a porno, right?
Like a girl is sticking a dog up her ass. Spunky is just reacting normally in that case.
Dogs react to shit on tv incorrectly. If my pug sees a horse on tv she attacks it.
can someone who is up to date on marvel atm redpill me on which current runs suck the least?
>>83976353
Marvel is now "Literal Cucks: The Company". It's all sjw faggotry.
Moon Knight is worth pirating, not buying. Rest of their books are literally the worst garbage ever published.
>>83976373
Is it that bad? The Spidey 90s nostalgia run looks kinda fun. I mostly am checking it out again because I'm a huge Moon Knight fan and thought I might check out the other runs going on. Also heard good things about Invincible Iron Man.
>>83976404
I also think Ms. Marvel looks fun.
Why did they wait 12 years to do this?
>>83976241
Because the suppose TV movie became the actual movie and it flopped.
I don't get why people want this movie so much since it would end up being 'meh' like most animated sequels, but okay
Contract issues. I'm just glad it's happening.
The best comic that this board barely ever talks about.
The comic that all your favorite comics steal from.
A comic so far ahead of its time you may get whiplash reading it.
This is the first 12 issues of American Flagg
This is Howard Chaykin's masterpiece
