I want to get more into artsy, hipster, underground, alternative, or whatever you want to call them comics. Are there any nice infographs? Most of them sound very samey from the blurb "Striking visual sensibility, singular style, wonderfully absurd!" and I don't know creators well enough for names to have any merit. Should I just treat them as art books and buy the ones that look pretty and hope the story stands as an afterthought?

There's famous stuff like:
>Maus
>Hate
>Our cancer year
>Megahex
>Epilepsy
Just go to your bookstore (not a LCS), to the comic/graphic novel section and see what looks good.
Read reviews from newspapers.
Lastly start taking chances on random comic books with no names, like this comic in pic related which is about a twisted version of Superman that becomes an atom bomb and his kryptonite is literally shit.

if you want to branch out you have to stop being a pussy and just read what's out there if it looks interesting, your taste over time will just have to develop
you'll start following creators which can lead you to other creators and so forth

It's harder to find weird stuff in person and randomly browsing on Amazon is a gamble. Like Jim Woodring is one of my favorites and I have never seen one of his books at either book or comic stores, for example.
Any tips? Like with regular books, there are plenty of red flags when reading descriptions that it won't be something you're interested in, but I'm having a lot more trouble with comics. Or is it really just 'buy whatever, hope for the best?' Granted, comics certainly aren't THAT expensive, but it'd be nice to be able to focus a bit.

Gwenpool but no Deadpool?
Actually using mutant characters?
>DOUBT
>>88817353
> Magneto, Storm, Wolverine, and DOOM.
Not sure to trust this. But I'll take it. Wish they brought based Taskmaster back.

Who is your favorite magnificent bastard (or bitch)?
The best one.

>Joke where kids drink coffee because adults do but think it's terrible
Am I the only one who liked coffee as a kid?
Yes. You are the sole youth in the entire Multiverse to enjoy caffeine.
>>88817120
I hated coffee and still do, but I live in southern New England where coffee milk is popular, and I loved that, even as a kid.
As a matter of fact, I like pretty much everything that is coffee flavored, but not coffee itself.
>>88817120
I always thought it was because kids in cartoons always drank it straight black. Most kids in cartoons hate bitter shit so they in turn hate coffee.
Opinions on this film?
>>88816855
Sexy Mouse Time was the only bad part of the film, because it was a pointless song featuring non-characters that added nothing to the film whatsoever.
Everything else is great, though.
Ratigan's great; everyone else is fine but less memorable by comparison; I still don't like the little girl and I'm not sure why.
It's generally pretty entertaining all the way through but maybe not incredibly memorable, up until the Big Ben sequence which is the best part of the movie.
I like it overall, probably, but don't really have strong feelings on it. It is pretty underrated as far as Disney movies go but I can sort of see why because anthro mice in a human world paralleling Sherlock Holmes does seem like a really out-there concept compared to Disney's typical folk/fairytale adaptations. I wonder how many people had even heard of the whole Basil of Baker Street books before this movie.
>>88816855
That scene was weirdly risque for a Disney movie
How did Marvel allow this?
Paul was being a nigger. Seems fair to me.
>>88816706
Read the rest of the fucking comic that single panel was in and you'd understand the context and why it was justified, you colossal pillock.

ITT: Artists that still suck despite their level of effort.
me
So.....no matter how hard you try,you will still suck? ;_;

he stop giving a fuck halfway through the first volume of Ultimates
his 90's Marvel work and Authority was top notch
I can't imagine they have the imagination to approve anything that doesn't rigidly copy the Simpsons format.
Also betting $10 he chickens out again and ragequits in 1.5 seasons.
he always looks like he's 14
oh wait its the shitty goatee

Hirshposting is some next level bitterness. I was there for Homestuck Act 7 and even that doesn't fucking compare. I doubt the Bleach ending compares to the sheer magnitude of salt of a few faggoty Hirshposters.
Probably a stock family sitcom with an edgier, more Rick and Morty-esque style of comedy. /co/ will hate it because Leddit likes it and Gravity Falls ended badly, but it'll do pretty well for 2-3 seasons.
Regardless of your opinion on Gravity Falls, the Fox show will be of lesser quality.
That's! Th-*Urp* It!
Sounds about right, Labcoat.
C'mon Rick, how could you forget me? Don't you remember that time we played tennis together?
Sure thing Rick.
Hey friends, I got a tablet for Christmas and it's perfect for reading comics! So I'm looking for some suggestions, since I'm a bit new to this.
I've already read (and liked) pretty much everything by Daniel Clowes (David Boring is my favourite), Watchmen, and recently I read a very cool comic called "Enigma". If you know any more stuff like this, please recommend me some! Or is there maybe some /co/ "essential" comics list out there?
I prefer graphic novels/shorter comic series but I liked Transmetropolitan and The Boys too, so if there are any "long" series like these, I'd check them out as well!
Anyway, thanks in advance for your suggestions and have a nice day! :)

If you haven't read Sandman, I'd really recommend it. You'd probably enjoy Preacher and Y The Last Man too.
Check out some more /co/ recs here, especially if you want genre specific stuff http://comraderecs.tumblr.com/

Vertigo stuff is the way to go based on what you enjoyed so far.

>Bendis? The writer?
>Yes
>And this is his first thread of the year?
>Seems to be the case
>What does the madman have in store for us this time?
>More Miles Morales, more Jessica Jones, more Riri, more Doom, the end of his GotG run, and Netflix Defenders.
>Netflix Defenders?
>Yes, the Defenders with the same roster as the Netflix TV show
>And Bendis will be writing it?
>All but confirmed
>Here we go again
>>88815425
how soon can we expect to see Riri get fucked in the ass by Miles a la Jessica Jones and Luke Cage
>>88815425
So what's he gonna fuck up in 2017?
I'm trying to get caught up on some of the DCAU movies that I haven't seen yet. Is there any particular order that I should watch these in?
>Justice League: Throne of Atlantis
>Justice League vs. Teen Titans
>Batman: Bad Blood
>Batman: the Killing Joke
>Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders
>Batman vs. Robin
>Son of Batman
Also, are these worth bothering with?
>Batman Unlimited: Animal Insticts
>Batman Unlimited: Monster Mayhem
>Batman Unlimited: Mechs vs. Mutants
From what I've seen so far: Son of Batman, Batman vs Robin, Justice League vs Teen Titans are fucking garbage. You should watch them anyway if you're into suffering though.
Throne of Atlantis was ok but the plot was directly from the JL comic.
Return of the Caped Crusaders seems to have the most potential.
>>88815356
All of the new Batman films are terrible except for Return of The Caped Crusaders. The new Justice League films aren't much better either.
>>88815356
>>88815388
JL v Teen Titans isn't good, but it's fun at times, there's a dance off at some point, there's quite a bit of starfire tits, and starfire has a magical girl transformation sequence.
Atlantis is just OK.
Return of the Caped Crusader was fun and felt like an elongated episode of the 60s show.
Haven't seen the rest of them but I've heard bad things about Bad Blood and Killing joke.
Namorita... Is she now a disney princess?
Not before me!
>>88814852
Nobody has any clue what happened to her.
Yost didn't put her on New Warriors because he thought she died in Thanos Imperative.
>>88814877
Marvel and DC need to create and maintain company bibles so this sort of shit doesn't happen.
