>Way back when I was just an artistic puppy, I originally had some ideas about doing a story on the return of King Arthur…and then DC Comics announced they were going to do CAMELOT 3000. Oh well, screw that, I thought. Because, y’know, that Brian Bolland fella draws just a wee bit better than I do! But then the series came out and, while well-crafted and beautiful to look at…it just didn’t speak to me. It didn’t reflect my world. I didn’t know anyone in contemporary times who wore shiny, colorful armor and wielded swords. The crew I ran with were all young and a bit cynical, roaming the city in t-shirts and jeans, defiantly eager for anything life had to throw at us. And a few of us always had a handy baseball bat stashed under the front car seat…just in case. So I found that the most resonant way I could approach these mythic motifs was to personalize them. I had to tell the story of my own Hero’s Journey as filtered through my own experiences. And that ideal certainly continues in THE HERO DENIED.

>As Wally Ut tells him, a weapon is only a tool and a true hero should be the master of many tools…the form is irrelevant. And, in losing the instrument that he saw as the symbolic definition of his heroic role, he also discovered a different way of looking at himself…a whole secondary mythic persona. Kevin learns that he is not only the Pendragon but that he also embodies aspects of the original Sumerian hero, Gilgamesh. He realizes that he not only held a limited view of his weapon and his power but also the possibilities of his own identity.
Well I guess that this is good motivation for me to finally get around to reading the first two.
So why was the sky red in DCAU Gotham
Older cars are terrible for emissions.

It part of the back story: chemical spill that created some of the new baddies also altered the sky over the greater gotham area.
So I just read this issue today.Honestly I'm surprised you guys haven't storytimed this issue yet, this issue as well as this whole series is just a fucking gold mine.
>>90373752
Why don't you storytime it?
I'm sure many people would appreciate it.

Did anybody else lose interest with Marvel after they ended the Ultimate Universe?
I miss it even considering how bad 616 is right now.
Me too. I've stopped reading Marvel after Secret Wars and DC during Darkseid War. But, as a matter of fact, I feel like getting back to DC, mainly because of the Batman comics and the whole Watchmen thing.
Ultimate killed too many of their main heroes early on and Ultimatum was like the genocide of half of them. And then basically the only books that were good in Ultimate universe was the evil Reed story arc and some of Miles Spider-Man
To be honest, Marvel ended the Ultimate Universe before Secret Wars ended it
No. Ultimate Universe was crap for years.
Miles is still around. New Wasp is good. Spencer Cap books are good. Ewing's Blue Marvel & Spectrum team books have been consistently great.
And the X-Books have been trash since Gillen left.
Do you come here for both comics and cartoons?
If not, why?
If I'm not here for both comics and cartoons, then I'm here just for comics?

Came for the cartoons but got introduced to a bunch of cool comics
>>90373419
I come here for what interests me which happen to be some cartoons and some comics.
I remember seeing some recommended reading infographics. Any have any they'd like to share?
I am not really impressed with Marvel's current fare but I know there have to be worthwhile stories. I specifically am looking for Ronan stories, and maybe some Thanos stuff that isn't the Infinity Gauntlet or The Infinity series from a few years ago. Not because I dislike them, but because I've read them.
Trying to get into the cosmic stuff but I haven't been impressed with the recent Guardians stuff, so I'm sure there are better, older stories.
If there are worthwhile Black Panther runs to look into, those would be cool too.

Cosmic Saga.
Let's have a ugly special snowflake art thread?
I'll begin with this little number. What the fuck is she even eating a sea sponge? Plus the over use of the texture brush does not give this shit any favors cause it still lacks depth.
I like it

Why is there a fucking influx in threads shitting on artists?

Is Lisa being bullied by a tard? Or is she having an episode over someone being better than her?
The calm person.
This episode was just sad. The whole nerd sweat thing was done because they so, so did not want to actually give Francine any character development or motivation.

So, this was pretty good
Better than The Wolverine? (the japan one).
Because that was the same director and it was mediocre...

>Better than The Wolverine? (the japan one).
Much, much better.
In fact, it's probably the best superhero film in existence. Save The Incredibles, I guess.
I'd guess that there was a lot less studio meddling here.
>>90371729
yea, it kinda has that old man Logan vibe, also the R-Rating helps like a lot
also Boyd Holbrook is pretty fucking cool

he sold out to the Calarts crowd
Me and my old room mate once came up with a one shot story of man thing where he's just a good ol boy living in the swamps, riding his fan boat, and he just happens to be a giant mouth-less swamp monster who guards the nexus of all realities. He was going to team up with gambit and fight off Argentinian Nazis.
