Just the fact they are holding off and teasing the Dr. Manhattan storyline. Gives readers a good reason to stay hooked, while not bombarding them with events. Although, like with most of Johns craftings, it plays too fast and loose with continuity. Its the same issue that plagued Infinite Crisis.

I fucking wish. The action is the whole reason Ellis' recent Marvel stuff has been some of my favorites.

I think a lot of this is us paying for what were the perceived sins of the 90s.

Prior and into the 90s Superhero comics could handle and balance action, the plots were simpler or the really good ones had amazing action and the plots held it up too.

Then the crash happens, a lot of factors and beliefs and stuff coalesces into a modern era of the Writer and the Art in a lot of mainstream comics lost and still doesn't have the big emotional moments it is more about plot complexity and ironic detachment and I just want simple stories with great characters who know how to move around a page that make me feel something.

You should really watch it if you haven't already, it's probably going to be much better than the shows you already know and enjoy.

Anyway, it's about a depressed male teacher who meets an overly enthusiastic / happy girl while trying to hang himself. Then he goes to his first class and finds out the girl is one of his students along with a dozen other girls who each have their own quirky personality and they spend most episodes with the teacher being in despair about some topic which makes them pursue the logical conclusions of different ideas to the point where they become absurd. Also they all have a crush on him and are all organ donation recipients and that first girl was actually dead the whole time and was the organ donor which makes each of the girls channel her into existence at different times in a way where everyone inexplicably recognizes her as a separate person and not just the given girl who's manifesting her at each moment.

Robot refuses to help Mark because he's pitting the Coalition and Thragg's forces against each other. In the final battle's climax, he evicerates Allen and Freddy, and the last panel is one of his drones charging up to fire reflected in a crippled Terra's eye saying "Mission accomplished." In the epilogue we learn that he's galactic overlord and has enacted interplanetary peace.
