But I do gotta admit that shoehorning in romance in the last 10 episodes is a very terrible idea.

Not only that, but Ashi is also mentally still a child while Jack is mentally in his 70's. That adds a layer of creepiness to them forming a romantic relationship as well.

I think I was expecting things to be on a larger scale, or have Jack making peace with his fate and wrapping up loose ends with the friends he made along the way.

The creator of Usagi Yojimbo said the last story he may ever make will just have Yojimbo trying to save a baby and dying along the way; not some epic clash or final grudge match. I feel the Samurai Jack guys are going on a similar route. They are focusing on Jack's fractured mind and trying to save Ashi, who is herself a symbolic result of the world that Jack has failed to save.

It's not what I expected or initially wanted, but I think I get what they are going for, and I think it will be a better watch when all the episodes are out.

For the most part the season has been fantastic. Episode 5 was the only bad episode for me, but beyond that it's been good shit.

OP, no offense, but are you new to comics? This isn't the first time the original comic book heroes got replaced, but came back later.

Remember Thunderstrike from the 90s? He replaced Thor for a bit, too. It's New Coke vs. Classic, novelty vs. tried-and-true. These methods are not even in conflict, really. They work together to build up discussion and hype.

All I'm saying is not to get so worked up over this stuff, OP. Superhero comics are very cyclical. You'll have the original characters back soon enough.
