I've read 52 (GOAT), and Countdown (entertainingly bad), and now looking for something new to binge-read. Should I bother?
Also, what are some comics that are good for binging?

Any one you like? What kind of retarded question is that.
>>
>>91744508
My definition of 'bingable' comics:
-longer runs, at least dozens of issues
-mindless entertainment, nothing that requires concentration (eg Morrison)
-nothing too good or too bad
That's what I'm looking for
>>
>>91744570
Some examples: 52, almost every Geoff Johns series, the Knightfall and No Man's Land sagas, Jason Aaron's Wolverine, Slott's Spider-Man, The Walking Dead...

So I'm watching The Simpsons first seasons (again) from the beginning and it's great, one of my favorite shows. Since everybody say later seasons are shit, I'll stop at season 10 or 11. Are there any good episodes in later seasons though to watch after that?
16 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
Stop at Season 9. You're good.
>>
There's a debated grey area in the 9-13 range where some episodes are still decent, but others are really bad and the ratio gets worse as it goes on so it depends on your tolerance. After that the best episodes are bland and the rest are unwatchable.
>>
Lisa the Simpsons is the last holdover of the Oakley and Weinstein era. Even as a 12yo kid I started to check out season 10 and distinctly remember talking to my friends how The Simpsons was getting bad. The day after Treehouse of Horror XI, the first episode of season 12, was when we silently ate lunch until someone broke the ice with "This show is garbage!"

Someone at Hanna Barbera needs to take the wheel.

They've got this whole catalog of characters who are still recognizable, even iconic. Only problem is that Warner Bros has no idea what to do with any of them!

>Gritty comic reimagining
>Whore themselves to WWE
>Shoehorn them into WB owned movies

What do you do with a property like Tom and Jerry? Or the Yogi Bear? Or the Flintstones? Give me your suggestions.

Don't change a damn thing about them and just give people more of what they like about these properties?

Make more theatrical tom and jerry shorts?

Update these shows to function with new technology and just make more of them?

I guess the honeymooners thing with flintstones is a little outdated, but I think people would be receptive if its about adult stuff like it was, originally. Maybe make it a double feature with jetsons.

Yogi bear's setup seems pretty timeless desu. Scooby doo hasnt changed the status quo in decades and its still trucking.

Just give top cat to the mexicans, give it to studio anima or something, they genuinely appreciate it more.

They already tried to reboot johnny quest but with venture bros around it seems pretty redundant. They could make a spiritual sequel with updated technology and a grown up johnny, I guess.

Huckleberry hound always kinda sucked, he's better as a sort of host for all these other hanna barbera characters. Maybe they should bring back banana splits and embrace the outdated psychedellic charm?

Quickdraw mcgraw seems limited by the setting, maybe put him in genre stuff. Like one episode he's a noir detective, the next an action hero, etc.

Snagglepuss just seems odd and I've got nothing.

They should reboot atom ant in the style of that cn groovy, at least as a miniseries.

they already rebooted space ghost into a weird comedy show and the new comics. Maybe they could take some of their other action stuff and rework it into an action block. New herculoids and thundarr would be cool.

the fact that wacky races and dick dastardly as a character have been ignored is a crime.

Honestly, the thing with these legacy characters is that if they become iconic and don't have a lot of depth to them, it doesn't make a lot of sense to change them too drastically. You just need new teams to add on to them and make them better and appeal to some modern sensibilities here and there.
>>
>>91744158
To me the trouble with some of these characters is that doing the same old thing would be tired and cliche but doing anything new makes it too different.

Do people really want new animated shorts with Tom and Jerry running around a '50s house chasing each other? They've tried to do modern Looney Tunes shorts on and off for years now and it always comes off as "Yeah, so?" It's just new animators doing old gags.

Huck never had a hook. His cartoons were always generic cartoon shenanigans. I think he should go back to being the MC of Hanna Barbera. Introducing cartoons and talking to the audience. He's likable in an 'Aw shucks' way.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6m2GFNmpl68

There's definitely possibilities for A Flintstones or Jetsons show. Animated sitcom families are still a thing and at least they have unique settings to help them stand out.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 is right around the corner, so let's take a look back.

Iron Man (2008)

>Several directors turned down the movie because they believed it'd flop before Jon Favreau was hired. Louis Leterrier was also interested, and subsequently directed THE INCREDIBLE HULK.

>Sam Rockwell and Clive Owen auditioned for Tony Stark before Robert Downey Jr. was cast.

>Rachel McAdams was approached for Pepper Potts before Gwyneth Paltrow was cast.

>Early drafts featured the Mandarin as a corrupt Chinese businessman who led the 10 Rings and created the Crimson Dynamo armor to fight Iron Man, before Jon Favreau decided to build up to the character.

>Early drafts featured Obadiah Stane only as Stark's estranged mentor, and his descent into villainy would be explored over several movies.

>In early drafts, Stark would throw Stane into a vat of acid rather than have him caught in an explosion. When the armor is retrieved, Stane's body is gone, indicating he might have survived.

>In early drafts, Stark would fight Stane in the prototype Mark IV armor, which includes a shoulder-mounted gattling gun and would later become the War Machine armor.

>The movie was filmed mostly without a script, with actors ad-libbing most of their lines based on a production guideline. Production was so chaotic that both the cast and the producers expected the movie to be a disaster until test-screenings reported surprisingly positive audience reception.

The Incredible Hulk (2008)

>Mark Ruffalo was Louis Leterrier's original choice for Bruce Banner, but the studio favored Edward Norton.

>Ray Stevenson auditioned for Emil Blonsky before Tim Roth was cast.

>Norton had concerns about the movie's direction and demanded to revise the script. He notoriously clashed with producers and added several subplots that were partially filmed and ultimately cut.

>Stan Lee would originally cameo as the captain of the USS Excelsior, a fishing boat that Banner and Betty hire to take them to Manhattan.

>The Hulk would originally decapitate the Abomination, but this was changed due to negative feedback from test-screenings.

>Norton was a fan of THE WIRE and added a subplot about a man, played by Michael K. Williams, who reaches out to the Hulk during the Battle of Harlem to stop the destruction. The subplot was almost entirely cut and Williams' role reduced to a cameo.

>Norton also added an extended comedic sequence where Banner interacts with a computer geek while trying to retrieve data from the university. Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill and Jason Segel, among others, were approached to make an appearance as the computer geek before the scene was nearly entirely scrapped and the geek reduced to a cameo, played by Martin Starr.

Iron Man 2 (2010)

>Jon Favreau planned to adapt the "Demon in a Bottle" storyline, but the studio felt it was too dark.

>Early drafts featured Justin Hammer as the main villain, manipulating brothers Ivan Vanko and Boris Bullsky into targeting Tony Stark in order to steal the Iron Man technology. Vanko would die during a fight with Stark in Monaco, and Bullsky would become the Titanium Man to avenge him. Further revisions made Vanko into the main villain and reduced Hammer to a supporting role.

>Early drafts featured Stark developing a relationship with Black Widow, but this entire subplot was cut, and even their flirtatious conversations were toned down after negative feedback from test-screenings.

>Early drafts also featured Hawkeye as a SHIELD operative undercover as a mercenary employed by Hammer, but his entire subplot was cut.

>Mickey Rourke created an elaborate backstory for Vanko to make him a more sympathetic character, but most of these scenes were cut to streamline the narrative. Rourke was displease and disowned the movie, swearing never to work with Marvel again.

>The original ending where Vanko forces Stark to surrender to him by kidnapping Pepper and is killed by War Machine with the ex-wife missile was scrapped due to negative feedback from test-screenings.

>Emily Blunt was cast as Black Widow, but dropped out due to scheduling conflicts and was replaced by Scarlett Johansson.

>Al Pacino was approached to play Hammer before the character was reinvented and Sam Rockwell, who had originally auditioned for Bullsky, was cast.

>The cast once again ad-libbed most of their dialogue. Favreau was unhappy with the movie, believing that the rushed production schedule that didn't allow him to refine the script as much as he wanted, and declined to return for IRON MAN 3.

I've been trying to think of an animated film that I saw at some point over a decade ago.

At some point in the film, the protagonist gets tricked by a con-man and locked into a waterwheel that she and other prisoners need to rotate for some reason. They manage to escape from the wheel by spinning it so fast that the wheel breaks off and tumbles down a hill.

In the very last scene of the film there is some sort of flight montage showing various locations visited over the course of the film, with one of those locations being the water wheel (now covered in vegetation).

I believe that the protagonist was either an anthropomorphic mouse or a micro-sized human

No one has ever been able to identify what this film is and no amount of searching through lists and internet searches has given me the answer, but I am hoping that someone will finally have the answer. It has been driving me mad every time this incomplete memory pops back into my head.

Is any significant time spent in the outback?
>>
>>91870149
It didn't mainly because kids thought they were getting a funny talking kangaroo movie and they get this weird PG-13 crime movie/buddy picture where the fat kid from Stand By Me is Christopher Walken's stepson and General Zodd is his criminal step-brother. Same situation as Snow Dogs, that was advertised as a funny talking dog movie, instead it's about Cuba Gooding Jr. trying to bond with his mildly racist biological father who turns out to be James Coburn.

I have no idea why this exists, just that this is the only thing in his career that Jeff Bennett should personally apologize for.
