I'm okay with this. With a few notable exceptions, the X-men movies have always been pretty boring when they were just following a formula.
Getting away from costumes and villains doesn't exactly scream "we are confident in this IP" but I'm willing to at least give them the benefit of the doubt.

No. I've never spoken against Andrew, I think he was a great Spider-man, but ASM2 was a garbage fire. It tried to do way too much shit. You can't develop the characters if you don't have any time to spend on them.

Take two plotlines. Three if you're ambitious. Weave them together.
Don't clutter the film with dumb shit like Aunt May worrying about paying the rent.

I didn't HATE him, but he certainly felt flanderized from the first movie. Most of the characters did, save Rocket, Yondu, and Gomora.

In the first movie I liked Gunn's Drax because it showed that he was a fierce and cunning warrior, but his literal approach made for funny miscommunication. He wasn't stupid, just took everything seriously.

In the second movie he just says whatever he is thinking constantly, which isn't the same as being literal. He also seems a lot less competent, and more of an asshole instead of just lovable.

I hated Baby Groot. He was a little shit, and wasn't even funny.
