>“I think the most diplomatic answer is I wanted to make a Marvel movie but I don’t think they really wanted to make an Edgar Wright movie,” Wright said in an interview with Variety. “It was a really heartbreaking decision to have to walk away after having worked on it for so long, because me and Joe Cornish in some form—it’s funny some people say, ‘Oh they’ve been working on it for eight years’ and that was somewhat true, but in that time I had made three movies so it wasn’t like I was working on it full time. But after The World’s End I did work on it for like a year, I was gonna make the movie.”
>Wright then went on to explain how issues arose when he was asked to hand over finishing touches to people within the studio, a very different approach than what he was used to given his career of personally handling creative decisions from start to finish.
>“But then I was the writer-director on it and then they wanted to do a draft without me, and having written all my other movies, that’s a tough thing to move forward thinking if I do one of these movies I would like to be the writer-director,” Wright said. “Suddenly becoming a director for hire on it, you’re sort of less emotionally invested and you start to wonder why you’re there, really.”
nothing shocking
The visuals would've been great, but his story didn't sound very good.
In fact you can pinpoint all the things Marvel likely took issue with.
I honest to goodness had a feeling it was something like this.
Still, I'd pay to watch his movie.
I'm excited for Baby Driver.

>It was a really heartbreaking decision to have to walk away after having worked on it for so long
Worked on it the way High School kids "work" on that book report all Summer, it's first day of class, stay home sick because "didn't finish book report", then ask for another couple weeks when you show the next day.
How many decades does it take to make a film about a guy who talks to ants?
Wright's dicking around is the reason we had glorified SHIELD agents instead of Giant-Man and the Wasp as founding Avengers.
Fuck him, and fuck all Wright apologists.
Did this show do ANYTHING wrong?Injustice 2 Premier skin pack when?

It didn't run 10+ seasons.

It got a great run though, and ended very satisfyingly. That's worth FAR more than extra seasons.

>Bonnie books a trip to France on Joe's dime just to cheat on him
>Episode ends with Joe APOLOGIZING to her and having to prove his love to her by walking despite being a paraplegic to win her back
Who's the fucking cuck who wrote this? Joe should have shown up and smacked the shit outta Bonnie, Pym style.

The strange appearance is obviously a big factor, but along with that is pairing up this hobgoblin of a man with stereotypical paranoid man of the house style tropes, and seeing the constant state of confusion and dread on Margie's face.

What if it was Batman who lost the whole Batfamily and saw Gotham get nuked? What would he become /co/?
>>93392429
I honestly don't think Batman's outlook or approach changes. He lost his entire world when his mom and dad were shot in that alley, the way Batman already acts is exactly the way you'd expect a superhero who lost his entire city and sidekicks to act.
>>93392429
Batman already knows what its like to lose everything you hold dear. Its why he gets it but doesn't allow leeway or sympathy for Supes or anyone else. If he could overcome it they can too. If they can't then that makes them criminals who prey off others.
>>93392429
Damian essentially asks him that in the first chapter of Injustice 2 (the game). Bruce doesn't give him an answer.
So, pic-related has just appeared in the DC Comics/some other comic series universe. How fucked are they?

Fairly certain that Illyria predates Vaatu by a good couple years. They hardly even look the same. Doesn't help that vaatu is a midget compared to her at the height of her power.

>Red pill me

>>93392368
Wow, thanks for ignoring the rest of the post grandma, pops must be cranky if you are that sensible
The only thing that's truly necessary to read is the original graphic novel. Before Watchmen is purely supplemental and varies in quality.
As to why you should read Watchmen, it's good not just for the story itself, but how it is told. It uses reoccuring leitmotifs and themes to not just enhance the story, but also foreshadow things to come.
As for page composition, the nine-panel grid gives it a nice cinematic feel. Plus, Dave Gibbons' art and John Higgins' color really makes the story shine. The art portrays some characters (like Ozymandiaz and Doctor Manhattan) as traditionally handsome to illustrate their elevated status, while some characters (like Nite-Owl and Rorschach) are drawn average at best to show how they are at our level. To put it bluntly, shit's tight bro.
I don't know if it was the moderators or something else but a live-action /co/ thread was quickly deleted so I thought I'd make a replacement.

Even though it hasn't come out yet, I'm actually kinda excited for CW's Black Lightning. It seems like it's CW attempt to mimic the tone of the Marvel Netfix and I'm interested to see how they pull it off.

There hasn't been a cape shit movie that I haven't thought was line than "fine" in years.
I like the MCU, I like the DCEU, I like every Fox-Men movie.
>>93392171
Me 2 man. Even X3 had a lot of things I liked even if I felt the movie was a little week.
One of my favorite cape films is The Spirit because it is batshit insane and hits the ground running from teh start of the film to the end. I saw it in theaters and once I realized it wasn't going to be Sin City but it's own different beast entirerly, I enjoyed the movie wholeheartedly and cackled like a madman throughout the entire thing.
I even liked The Green Hornet.
Top Five Cape Films (Animated and Live Action)
1. The Incredibles
>Best Fantstic Four movie I've ever seen.
2. Watchmen
>The movie was by no means for everyone, but it told a unique story in an interesting way and tonally sets itself apart from all cape flicks
>It's hard to pinpoint exactly what I enjoyed about this movie (costume design, acting, music choices, directing) bit in the end I thought it was stellar for what it tried to accomplish.
3. SPider-Man 2/X2
>both of these were so fucking good I literally can't choose.
4. Hellboy (it wasn't a straight adaptaion of the comic but I felt it did exactly what it needed to do. It made a Hellboy fan out of me when I never read the comic.
5. Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths
>Probably my favorite of those listed.
>Stellar Justice League movie that has a straightforward plot, bitchin music, and an excellent cast all bringing their A-Game. Casting James Woods was a stroke of genius and Gina Torres was a delight. William Baldwin voicing Batman was weird at first but I began to see him in a whole new light. Also it was one of the most realistic interpretations of Batman. He gets his shit wrecked the entire movie and has to endure the final confrontation with a broken rib (or two). Soooooooo goood.
>Also it was written by Dwayne McDuffie originally as an episode that bridged Justice League and Justice League Unlimited.

I know this is a super pleb post but The Dark Knight was a film that elevtated the cape-genre to levels that shocked the casual viewer.
In essence, it wasn't really cape film but a crime/drama that happened to star Batman. I know this is stupid to mention, but my grandmother loved this movie and she hates everything involving superheroes. Something about it clicked with the general audience and to be able to do that while still appeasing comic book fans (most but not all) is a feat worth mentioning.
Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths
