I wanted to thank you /co/ for the recommendation. New Super-Man ended up being genuinely interesting and funny. I ended up having to wait for a trade to come out to start reading, but I ended up fucking loving it.
I heard from a comic shop employee that it isn't selling so hot, but I really hope it keeps going and am wondering how I could help ensure that.
I'm only 5 comics in (trade and all), but I wouldn't mind chatting about the parallels to the actual Superman as well as just the comic as a whole. Also, any other recommendations with similar comedy?
Really all you can do is buy the trades or the issues as they come out, and tell your friends about it.
I would recommend Greg Pak's current Totally Awesome Hulk, maybe it's just because both writers are Asian or that both books feature an Asian using a classic superhero name but they give me a similar vibe.
My favorites are Deilan and Dr. Omen. Both for fairly obvious reasons.

Cool! I'll check it out. I'm mainly familiar with DC, but since these are sort of stand alone, I see no harm expanding my horizons. I'm pretty white, so no real special connection to any East Asian cultures, but the setting is great for allowing other characters to shine without competing for the spotlight.
I'll see if any of my friends want to read some comics. My only comic book reading friend recommended me Deathstroke and Hellblazer so he might not be into this, but he should give it a shot.
>>93686826
I'm excited to find out more about Dr. Omen. You guys probably got her whole story by now, but I was blown away in the last couple of panels of 5.
>Stan Lee will die seeing his characters and the comic division of the company he made in shambles and begging for sales ;_;
>Not in 2012 when the whole company was on the top of the world.
Maybe leaving early isn't so bad after all ;_;
>Implying he even notices the crap around him
He's old Anon
Old people don't remember well
He can't even read comics anymore
He doesn't give a shit about comics.
Back when I was a retarded kid I thought he was the CEO of Marvel.
Apparently it's some hyper recluse guy?

Holy shit.
SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING is right around the corner, so let's take a look back at the development of both franchises.
Spider-Man (2002)
>Chris Columbus, Roland Emmerich, Tony Scott, Jan de Bont, Ang Lee, David Fincher, M. Night Shyamalan and Tim Burton were approached to direct the movie before Sam Raimi was hired.
>Early drafts featured the Green Goblin and Doctor Octopus as villains, with Green Goblin trying to kill Harry Osborn to prevent Harry from ruining OsCorp and Doctor Octopus wanting revenge on the Green Goblin for stealing his designs and firing him.
>Freddie Prinze Jr. was Sony's top choice to play Peter, but Raimi believed he wasn't right for the role. Scott Speedman, Jay Rodan and James Franco auditioned before Tobey Maguire was cast. Franco was later cast as Harry.
>Kate Hudson was Sony's top choice to play MJ, but declined. Alicia Witt, Mena Suvari, Elisha Cuthbert and Eliza Dushku auditioned before Kirsten Dunst was cast.
>Nicolas Cage, John Malkovich and Robert De Niro were approached for Norman Osborn before Willem Dafoe was cast.
>Hugh Jackman was approached to make a cameo appearance as Wolverine, but scheduling conflicts prevented it from happening.
Spider-Man 2 (2004)
>Early drafts featured Doctor Octopus and Black Cat as villains, with a brief appearance by the Lizard to set up SPIDER-MAN 3. Black Cat would've been a cat burglar who becomes involved with Peter while MJ is engaged to John Jameson and attempts to tempt Peter away from his responsabilities, were both her and the Lizard were ultimately written out to streamline the narrative.
>In early drafts, Otto Octavius is a handsome young scientist and the creator of the spider that bit Peter. He becomes becomes involved with Mary Jane, but spirals into insanity after becoming addicted to endorphins that are released into his system when he uses his mechanical arms, which end up fused to his spine in a fight with Spider-Man. He then becomes obsessed with capturing Spider-Man and using his spine fluid to cure himself.
>In early drafts, Peter is given a microchip by Octavius which supresses his powers, and uses it after Harry Osborn places a bounty on his head, turning the city against him. Peter is ultimately forced to remove it in order to regain his powers and stop Doctor Octopus.
>Tobey Maguire was nearly replaced by Jake Gyllenhall after injuring his back filming SEABISCUIT and clashing with Sony over delaying production to accomodate his recovery.
>Vincent D'Onofrio, Chris Cooper and Robert de Niro were approached for Doctor Octopus before Alfred Molina was cast.
Spider-Man 3 (2007)
>Early drafts featured Sandman and Vulture as villains, but Sony demanded that Venom, Gwen Stacy and Harry's transformation into the Green Goblin be included in the movie, requriting Vulture to be written out.
>In early drafts, the symbiote would arrive on Earth in a space shuttle piloted by John Jameson, which would malfunction and nearly crash-land on Manhattan before Spider-Man intervenes, which is why Spider-Man is given the key to the city. The sequence was scrapped for being too expensive.
>In early drafts, the symbiote would drain Brock's life force due to prolongued exposure, reducing him to a charred skeleton, and attempt to bond with Peter again before Peter destroys it.
>In early drafts Sandman would give up fighting upon learning his daughter is in terminal condition and can no longer be cured. Spider-Man would then forgive him and allow him to go and spend her last days by her side.
>In early drafts, Bernard, the butler, would be revealed as another of Harry's hallucinations.
>In early drafts Gwen Stacy would've been captured by Venom and Sandman, while MJ would be the one to convince Harry to help Peter, but scheduling conflicts required it be Mary-Jane again.
>Ben Kingsley was approached for the Vulture before the character was cut.
>Elisha Cuthbert and Scarlett Johansson were approached for Gwen Stacy before Bryce Dallas Howard was cast.
The Amazing Spider-Man (2012)
>David Fincher volunteered to direct the movie, but Sony didn't like his approach and Marc Webb was hired instead.
>In early drafts, Peter would find out his father, Richard Parker, coded the venom of the genetically modified spiders to his DNA and that OsCorp engineered both his parents' death and the accident in which he acquired his powers in order to retrieve a sample of his blood to cure Norman Osborn, but the entire subplot was scrapped due to negative reception.
>Early drafts featured larger roles for Peter and Gwen's high school friends including Flash Thompson, Sally Avril, Missy Hallenback and Ariel Keene, but their roles were reduced to focus on Peter and Gwen.
>Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Daniel Radcliffe, Robert Pattinson, Logan Lerman, Anton Yelchin, Alden Ehrenreich, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Zac Efron, Jim Sturgess, Xavier Samuel, Liam Aiken, Drake Bell, Michael Angarano, Dane DeHaan and and Josh Hutcherson, among others, auditioned for Peter before Andrew Garfield was cast.
>Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Mia Wasikowska, Imogen Poots, Teresa Palmer, Brooklyn Decker, Amber Heard, Dianna Agron, Emily Browning, Lily Collins, Emma Roberts, Anna Kendrick, Ophelia Lovibond, Sara Paxton, Georgina Haig, Dominique McElligott, Scout Taylor-Compton auditoned for Gwen before Emma Stone was cast.
>Michael Fassbender was approached for Connors before Rhys Ifans was cast.
>The "Man in the Shadows" played by Michael Massee was originally Electro, who'd be an enforcer for OsCorp and Peter's parents' killer, and would become the main villain of the sequel. However, when Sony changed their plans for the franchise, he was made into Gustav Fiers instead.
is Wonder Woman, the TRUE villain of Injustice 2
>>93686112
Yes.
>>93686112
Yeah, basically. Regime Wonder Woman is a fucking sociopath and actively encouraged Regime Supe's fascist fearmongering bullshit.
>>93686112
>elseworlds
>Diana either becomes a raging asshole, or Clark's cocksleeve, often both
Why. No seriously, why is this a thing? Why is this such a consistent thing? A mere lack of research can't account for this happening over and over, as otherwise there would be at least some deviation in mishandled portrayals. It's always the same fucking thing. How do so many different people keep screwing up a single character in the exact same way?
He's getting desperate. He doesn't have much longer. How will you remember Stan the Man?
>>93686043
>OP always starts these threads without stating who died
im scared
>>93686075
Stan's wife just died
Is... Is he actually immortal?
Lol, what were your thoughts on this flick?
I don't plan to see it. Should I plan to see it or just catch it on Netflix?
>>93685987
Amazeballs
I don't want to say best movie ever made [spoilers]though it's super up there [/spoilers] but it is definitely the best superhero movie ever made and has THE BEST MCU Villian ever
Let's do this, /co/alas. Who will die? and how the hell will they make the porn parody?
Iron Man and Cap's fates are sealed.
Hell, I wouldn't be shocked if the film ends in a funeral, as they confirmed that the second Spider-Man film starts minutes after Avengers 4 ends.
>>93685838
Stan's a dead man walking.
>>93685925
As much ad I love Cap I hope he has a beautiful funeral with his friends, peopleof Earth, aliens and gods.
Canon anyone explain the appeal of the Punisher to me? Out of the "normal" Punisher comics I've read, they all more or less come across like this:
>Frank finds another syndicate
>Murders several members until they're operation is crippled
>Finds new connections
>Repeat
It's just so stupid and dull.
>>93685828
Have you read Ennis?
Also, there aren't any other characters like him that aren't knockoffs. If he's not for you, he's not for you, though.
The satisfaction of murder porn: killing people who (in your opinion) deserve to die, while effectively being invulnerable and unstoppable yourself.
In reality, or indeed in the Marvel Universe, Frank would not last very long, of course.
>>93685828
Shut up Whedon.
Was Bill right about Superman?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I_cEoK1mXms
>>93685792
No one gets the point of that scene.
Of course he's not. The point of the scene is what says to the audience about Bill, not about Superman. He's basically Lex Luthor, he can't possibly understand why would anyone with power would want to have a normal life.
Bride should have told him that Bruce Wayne is also a persona and really blow his mind
>>93686061
This
Welp, seeing as the Multiplayer for Pocket Mortys fucking sucks, how about we have a Speculation thread for what S3 of Rick and Morty will be like to distract from how painfully shit it is.
Post what you think the plots of episodes will be, if you think there'll be an overarching plot, or just shitpost about how much you wanna fuck Morty/Morticia/Summer ect I don't really care.
Also, if anyone has Pocket like you stole it and wants to Storytime it, that'd be neat.
>watching Rick and Memey
Pocket Morticias updated.
Some of the new ones are black for no reason.

>Comic con
>It's not actually about comics
Are there any good cons about comics or cartoons?
What they lack in big names they make up in comics
necomiccon.net
>>93685426
>go to a Comic con
>It's 80% marvel movie shit
>15% "geek culture" crap like funko pop for sale
>5% live action tv shows including sitcoms
It's not about comics anymore it's about corporate advertisements and slutty cosplayers
Thoughts on The Head? Watching it for the first time right now.
I started watching it recently too. I'm like four episodes in and it's just 'ehh'. Nothing about it particularly captivating, and it lacks the edge of other MTV shows.
The 'one with the blade' joke caught me off guard though, fucking hilarious
>>93685691
Yeah, other than a few lines, it doesn't seem particularly MTV-esque. Hell, change them and it could probably easily air on Fox Kids.
Still, I'm enjoying it. Its got a weird charm to it.
>>93685804
Actually I take that back, the grotesque elements are pretty MTV-ish. And probably the reason I still watch it.
I kind of like how deadpan it is too.
Also recommend me some non superhero comics.
>>93685261
It's shit lol
Watchmen and Wildcats 3.0
>>93685261
It is bad. It is too much "look how progressive we are". I stopped reading with the issue when for some strange reason they had the need to make a cyclops or a giant and there was a lot of effort drawing his unwashed cock and balls.
Only interesting character was a Lying Cat.
>>93685261
Started out promising. Now it just sort of meanders and it's not clear what the goal is.
Also, what's up with all the "what does /co/ think of Saga?" threads lately? There's been like one a day.
