THE BOHROK, ANOTHER FAILSAFE MADE UP OF MECHANICAL AUTOMATONS CONTROLLED BY "KRANA", LIVING BRAINS (THINK KRAANG) THAT WOULD CLEAN MATA NUI OF ANY GRIME COLLECTED DURING HIS SHUTDOWN ARE AWAKENED AND BEGIN TO "CLEAN" THE ISLAND, DESTROYING THE HOMES AND SETTLEMENTS OF THE TOHUNGA AND KILLING RAHI AROUND THE ISLAND. THE TOA MATA TRY TO FIGHT THEM OFF, AND HAVE TO DEAL WITH SOME ISSUES AFTER LEWA, THE TEAM GOOF, GETS FUCKED UP BY A BOHROK AND TAKEN OVER BY A KRANA. THEY EVENTUALLY FIX THAT AND GO TO DEAL WITH THE BOHROK AT THEIR SOURCE, WHERE THEY MEET CAHDOK AND GAHDOK, THE SENTIENT MASTERS OF THE BOHROK WHO TELL THE MATA THAT THE BORHOK ARE THEIR "BROTHERS". THE TOA USE MECHANICAL SUITS CALLED EXO TOA AND MANAGE TO DEFEAT THE TWO DINOSAUR-LIKE BEINGS. THEY ARE ABSORBED INTO THE GROUND AND COVERED IN "ENERGIZED PROTODERMIS", ONE OF MANY MUTATIVE ELEMENTS IN THE BIONICLE UNIVERSE, WHICH TURN THEM INTO THE TOA NUVA. AS TOA NUVA, TAHU AND THE GANG HAVE ENHANCED ELEMENTAL POWERS, NEW TOOLS THAT DOUBLE AS TRANSPORTATION MEANS, AND CAN SHARE THEIR MASK POWERS WITH THOSE AROUND THEM. THEY WERE PRETTY NEAT. THE TOHUNGA, FOR THEIR EFFORTS IN DEFEATING THE BOHROK, WERE CEREMONIOUSLY REWARDED WITH PHYSICAL UPGRADES AND BESTOWED THE NAME "MATORAN", A NAME THAT WAS USED FOR THEIR RACE MANY YEARS EARLIER.

THE BOHROK-KAL, WHICH WERE SERIOUSLY DANKED UP VERSIONS OF THE BOHROK, EMERGED. INSTEAD OF LEGIONS, THERE WERE ONLY 6 OF THESE GUYS, AND THEY HAD RIDICULOUS POWERS LIKE GRAVITY, SONIC WAVES, AND PLASMA. THEIR TASK IS A FAILSAFE TO THE FAILSAFE, AND THEY MUST RELEASE CAHDOK AND GAHDOK IF THEY WERE IMPRISONED. THESE GUYS STOLE THE FUCK OUT OF THE TOA'S POWERS BY TAKING THEIR ELEMENTAL SEALS FROM THEIR SUVAS AND ATTEMPTED TO RELEASE THEIR TWO MASTERS. THE TOA HAD OTHER IDEAS, AND THEY REALLY FUCKED UP THE KAL. LIKE, ONE OF THEM GOT THROWN INTO ORBIT, ANOTHER ONE IMPLODED. IT WAS GRAPHIC AS FUCK...

THE RAHKSHI FUCK UP TA-KORO, THE FIRE CITY, WHICH IS IN THE MIDDLE OF A FUCKING VOLCANO, AND END UP WOUNDING TAHU. MEANWHILE, TAKUA, FORMERLY THE CHRONICLER AND HIS BUDDY JALLER, THE CAPTAIN OF THE TA KORO GUARD, FIND THE MASK OF LIGHT UNDER THE TA KORO RUINS. THEY ARE TOLD TO FIND THE TOA OF LIGHT, WHO WILL BE ABLE TO END THE RAHKSHI'S REIGN OF TERROR. WHILE THE TOA NUVA TRY TO PROTECT THE CITIES FROM THE RAHKSHI THREAT, THE MATORAN GO AROUND TRYING TO FIND THE TOA OF LIGHT. THEY'RE HELPED BY A GROUP OF MATORAN CALLED THE CHRONICLER'S COMPANY LED BY HAHLI (WATER) WHO IS THE NEW CHRONICLER. THEY CONSIST OF HAHLY (WATER) NUPARU (EARTH) HEWKII (ROCK) KONGU (AIR) AND MATORO (ICE). ALL OF THE MATORAN IN THIS COMPANY ARE HIGHLY RANKED AND VERY IMPORTANT LATER ON.
