"Oh you're back from vacation!"
"...oh...yeah"
"was it nice? where did you go?"
"well...wasn't exactly vacation..."

t didn't go to the office to work for almost a month or two. student life...old as fuck student life. nobody cares about me. not even my "employer".

Anxiety had already hit hard before that point so bought me a bottle to keep me warm. But at least I sort of fixed my dumb fucking cunt of a toilet before opening it (the bottle). and I learned to play a new song about being a good for nothing piece of shit so at least I can express it in somewhat normie manners.

rumors tell the tale of Smirnoffbro being alive. which chills me to the liver.

Doing that moderated drinking thing. Been sober 4 months, now I tried drinking on weekends, and I didn't even enjoy it. I prefer to be sober these days, i'm a much better person then.

Best time I've had in the past few years was when told work I was going on vacation in Colorado for two weeks. Instead I stayed home, tapered for five days, started going on walks, played vidya, cooked a decent meal at least once a day, etc.
By the end of the first week the shakes and crushing anxiety were gone and I lived like sober NEET for the second week. I felt optimistic and got a lot of shit done.

First day back at work I was presented with a bunch of single malt scotch and fancy mezcal samples to assess. Back to downing a fifth a day within 10 days. Such is life in the "adult beverage" industry.

>>
>>9279531
That's the thing, you gotta learn to stop before going to the event horizon ( physical addiction ) like I do, so drinking once a week will only get me hungover and anxieties, but that passes around afternoon. If I was drinking daily for around a month, I'd get physically addicted, and that's not something I ever wanna go through a day. You have to be mentally strong to reject the urge to drink while hangover and thus break the cycle.

I just need a change of career. Making a living by endorsing and selling booze every day is rough. It was easier when I quit heroin/opiods and meth in my early 20s since it wasn't my source of income, and if I went out for food on a day off, the waitress didn't ask if I wanted a bindle or teener with my meal.

That reminded me of when I went to Six Flags Magic Mountain when I was like 16 with my friend's church group. Some fag like 25 years old had planned out an itinerary on which rides we would go on starting with Colossus. We unanimously agreed that we wanted to go on Goliath first, to beat the lines, but we could make our way back to Colossus after. He ended up throwing a bitch fit then running back to the van and spending the rest of the day there.

Basically every day for 23 years, typically 2-3 x 70cl daily. Plus a heroin and crack addiction, frequent use of every common street drug you care to name plus a fair few exotic ones too, and ODs on some hardcore shit like benzos, 84% pure MDMA, crack i cooked myself so it was insanely pure, even shit like butane and fentanyl, both of which stopped me from breathing.
I also once took 40 grams of shrooms at once and lost consciousness, and vaped .25 of DMT at once, then 'came to' like 20 mins later choking on vomit. Oh and 5 x 150ug LSD blotters, 5 grams of speed (passed out and woke up on the floor an unknown amount of time later) etc etc. I take addiction rather seriously.
Sedated as fuck right now on Valium, tramadol and morphine. Phone batt nearly kill. Bbl, al/ck/

Use any gin you like, son. I'll tell you how I used to make a Martini. I mostly just used the gin I had on hand. You don't need meme gins. I have enjoyed may Gordon's Martinis, but you might enjoy a higher end alternative.

Cool everything down as much as you can beforehand. Put the gin in the freezer of course (at least 24 hours before drinking), and the cocktail shaker, and, preferably, the glassware you will be using.

Take your cocktail shaker from the freezer and fill it up completely with ice. Over the ice, pour three (3) ounces of gin. Take your dry vermouth and use the bottlecap as a measure. Add one (1) measure of vermouth to the shaker.

Now, at this point you have a choice to make. You may want to experiment with this if you're a beginner. The choice you have to make is a choice between two distinct mixing techniques, both of which affect important parameters. The choice is this: do you shake, or do you stir?

If you choose to shake, probably the most popular technique (because it's literally a meme), you cool the drink down more. But in the process of shaking, you beat up the ice so there will be little shards of it floating on top of your cocktail when you pour it out. It's a beautiful sight, but sadly the drink will be watered down more as well.

If you choose to stir, the drink will both be stronger and not as cold (it will still get pretty cold though). I personally prefer this variety.

I have found that I prefer pickled onions over olives as a Martini garnish. So technically, I was talking about a Gibson cocktail all this time.
>>
>>9282784
I know how I like my martinis anon, was just curious as to how you like yours.

I also like my gin from the freezer, although it's not traditional. I tend to go with 10 to 1 gin to vermouth with Tanqueray and Dolin Dry stirred and served up with a single olive. Gibsons are nice too though.

Which vermouth do you use?

Starting the gym tomorrow lads and scared but excited. This time last year I was never holding a job, downing a 70cl a day, playing runescape all day and being an absolute burden to my mother. She'd leave me dinners outside my room and I'd scurry out to get it. I could hardly open my door due to the amount of piss bottles (formerly vodka and cider bottles), towels with sick on them and stains from sick, piss and spilled drinks. I developed a nasty rash from air borne mold from all the piss and cider and was shitting blood constantly, sleeping 12 hours a day. I didn't realise how bad I was at the time, you know that feeling if you've been there, your brain just deludes its self.

I decided to make a change early this year because it finally hit me that I was going to die if I carry on. I honestly can't pin point when but I decided to give up drinking even just for a little while and distance myself from the game. I ended up cleaning my room out which took 2 full days and started seriously looking for a job after that. I got a haircut as I hadn't had one in 1 year, and managed to score a job 3 months ago.

It's a shit job with shit pay but it gets me out and is night shift so it's less likely for me to drink. I have managed to limit myself to my days off to drink and even then I sometimes decide not to.

I'm currently laying in bed on my phone, just got in from work and just feel so proud of myself. Ive got my gym bag ready for tomorrow night after work. I think I'm gonna make it lads.

Just want you to know it's never too late to make a change. I'm determined to go into 2018 an independent, fit pleb with a job and to just be content with myself.

Good luck boys, which ever route you decide to take.

20 mg isn't a lot m8. >>
>>9285810
Kindling is where it takes less and less drinking to induce withdrawals over time. Usually happens to binge drinkers rather than all day sippers. The brain fog you're experiencing is common among both when they first quit, how long it takes to pass pretty much depends on how long you were at it.

I'm scared of sober life, but even more scared when sober, of going back to it all. As soon as I have relapsed though, for at least a few hours a day I feel like king of the universe, and the rest of the time I'm too smashed to care how fucked my life is.

By running from my negative emotions for so long I didn't realize I was also losing the positive ones. This has been so worth all of the physical pain.
>>
how do I get rid of the anger?
gnomes took my phone. been gone since yesterday. not that I was expecting a call.
I will blame them and hold them accountable for what they have made me into.

Anger is good if you can turn it into something useful.
>>
>>9285883
anger is what people feel when they're too narcissistic to accept any sort of responsibility
>>
>>9283713
Same problem here. It's definitely the booze.
>>
>>9285908
Not really.
Anger is what prompts you to make a difference.

is that why your life is going really well and you haven't made loads of mistakes and don't have crippling self esteem issues
>>

I didn't say that anon.

>>9285936
sorry for being mean i'm in hell
>>

I hope you make it through friend.
Don't give up
>>
>>9285958
thanks
my best friend has recently been diagnosed with brain cancer relapse, multiple tumors on his spine. uncle recently died. granddad recently died (an alcohol). dad is an alcohol. still unemployed surrounded by selfish worms who used to be friends who would (and have) crossed me for as little as £5. at least i'm sober
sometimes i think you have to go through hell to earn entry into heaven
>>
>>9285971
That is unlucky. I'm sorry to hear about your best friend man, that is a fucking bummer.
I have alcoholics in my family too, it is quite common, so what are we to do except carry on?
How old are you anon? I'm guessing you still have a life ahead of you.
Suffering brings wisdom is true.
>>
>>9279753
I take naltrexone. Gets rid of the physical desire but emotions like boredom, loneliness and anger are still there to deal with. But it helps a lot overall.
>>
>>9279859
Glad to hear that.
>>
>>9279859
Did you find a new hobby or something? I have absolutely nothing in my life without alcohol and can't find anything I enjoy
>>
>>9285982
23, have a good degree in physics but nobody wants to employ me because i have no experience. applied for ~250 jobs since january, not even a single interview. Doesn't help that i value myself about as much as these companies value me. Maybe i have more going for me than most but it doesn't mean a thing if i'm unemployed living with my mum who doesn't give a shit about me and neglected me for years, and i can't even get a job at KFC. No fucking wonder i've been addicted to everything i've been able to get my hands on. Went to therapy and made no progress. Had a gf but she abused me too
fuck it all
>>
>>9279340
I keep picking my nose when I drink and I eat the boogers and spit out the nose hairs, is that a health issue?
>>
>>9282158
Rehab pissed me off so much. They should focus on meds and triggers. The 12 steps doesn't work for many many people.
>>
>>9285839
Jeez dude.
>>
>>9286011
You are young and you have a degree in fucking physics at 23 my man.
Stick around, society is like this now, but it might change around and it most likely will.
You are one smart motherfucker so don't forget that.
I am counting for you anon, just fucking hold on and keep staying alive and well. Fuck all this bullshit and say fuck your asshole mum if that's what it takes. It is getting harder just to get by so don't feel too bad homie.
>>
Is there anything that can be done about the nightmares?
>>
Ran out of alcohol last night. Went through withdrawals and took some valium to try and sleep. Got to sleep finally. Had the most vivid fucking dream I've ever encountered. It was like some black mirror shit. Woke up freaking out sweating then went to buy more vodka. I'm happily drunk now.
>>
Just drink 2L of cider.

I feel nothing.

I have another 2L but the heart burn already began. Drinking has become a chore.

i'm trying to work out why i drink because maybe that will help me stop
so for it's being neglected and abused, but it's hard to move past that, don't really have any friends any more because everybody has moved on with their lives and i've been relegated back to this backwater village 20 miles from the nearest city. Had hobbies, but i've lost all passion because I don't find any enjoyment in them at all any more. I have no passion or goal, because life isn't special and it doesn't mean anything anyway. My mind is always racing but i feel like i'm stephen hawking in the way that I'm locked in my useless body. I'll never be able to put my thoughts into action so I drink to stop feeling like I want to rip my skin off because of boredom
>>9286073
I always have nightmares about having terminal diseases or trying to save people i care about from dying. I never succeed in saving them
>>
>>9286102
I dream about pokemon beacuse I've been playing "pokemon fire red" on the gameboy advance for days straight.

Need to get my Meowth to level 26 so I can go to the next gym! He is only level 13.

Was a stab at AA pretending to not be a Christian organization when they totally are. I didn't say anything about being athiest in that post.
>"higher power"
Same deal. I didn't go out of my way to say anything about myself except that I quit drinking without them. Maybe you're just triggered. M'lady.
>>
>>9286117
"duuuuuuuuude my higher power is a tree bro"

fucking hippies

can you teach me how to get drunk when my body says no? Like I want to puke after drinking a medium amount of liquor. I'm fat and have a high tolerance acnd I can't get drunk anymore. Please help.
>>
>>9286102
Yes, it might be about just what you are describing. Dunno where you are located but talk to someone professional, you don't have to deal with this shit.
I can relate man and most of us here probably can, so don't feel alone. Get some help and carry on with what you like.
>>
>>9286011
>Had a gf but she abused me too
Happened to me too. It's hard.
I'll start EMDR about that soon, I'll report about in a few days.
I guess the hardest with "therapy" is finding someone who can actually help you. Many are just useless idiots.

>>9286064
Taper, benzo.
>>
>>9286114
My favourite gba game anon, but using meowth? Wtf
You're lucky you dream about pokemon and not fucked up shit. Might start a new game and hope for the best.
>>
>>9286134
I htought he was cute and persian seems cool. THere isn't much to choose from yet. Still not even at celodan city.

Do you know if evee in the building in celadon comes as a level 1? That's going to be so annoying to level up from nothing. I'm going to evolve him to vaporeon. ANd give him the TM water ability from misty.
>>
>>9286133
I've had two therapists so far, the first one helped me bring up all my emotions and i spent almost every session crying my eyes out, but it only ended up making me feel even more hopeless because it brought the reality of my issues to the forefront and didn't give me any way to solve them or move forward
the second therapist that i had kept stating how i'm miserable because i don't love myself. Duh, that's why i drink. Kept asking me to fill in forms with details like "List 5 things you like about yourself" and i couldn't list a single thing. Eventually the sessions got cancelled because she was unhappy with the lack of progress. No shit
>>
>>9286145
You can get a nidoran at like level 7. Has some really good moves mid game
>>
>>9286152
Not that anon, but crying is good, you are on the way my man
>>
>>9286152
It's like you're describing the stereotype of shrink who did this job for themselves, but didn't go much further than their own problems. And they were obviously small enough to allow them finish a medical school successfully.

The second one reminds me of a former addiction doctor. She was just plain dumb, fortunately I realised she couldn't help me beyond detox. During rehab, I'd just want to get wasted when walking out of appointments.

It's a pain to expect to find help, it's exhausting to take appointments, go there, explain your situation, answer questions, try hard to get thing to go better, and realise you're just wasting time and energy.
>>
>>9281722

hates to drink alone? wtf are you doing here?
>>
>>9286217

>>9282143 is relevant too
>>
>>9286206
i'd like to think so, but this was months ago and i'm more addicted now than i was before therapy and i've completely reburied everything which was dug up
>>9286217

Are you me? You're a younger version of me anyway. I'm 31 and have a good degree as well. If I would have quit at 23 my life would probably be golden right now. Instead I live in a hovel drinking myself to death. Get out while you still can.
