Doing that moderated drinking thing. Been sober 4 months, now I tried drinking on weekends, and I didn't even enjoy it. I prefer to be sober these days, i'm a much better person then.

Best time I've had in the past few years was when told work I was going on vacation in Colorado for two weeks. Instead I stayed home, tapered for five days, started going on walks, played vidya, cooked a decent meal at least once a day, etc.

Basically every day for 23 years, typically 2-3 x 70cl daily. Plus a heroin and crack addiction, frequent use of every common street drug you care to name plus a fair few exotic ones too, and ODs on some hardcore shit like benzos, 84% pure MDMA, crack i cooked myself so it was insanely pure, even shit like butane and fentanyl, both of which stopped me from breathing.

Use any gin you like, son. I'll tell you how I used to make a Martini. I mostly just used the gin I had on hand. You don't need meme gins. I have enjoyed may Gordon's Martinis, but you might enjoy a higher end alternative.

Cool everything down as much as you can beforehand. Put the gin in the freezer of course (at least 24 hours before drinking), and the cocktail shaker, and, preferably, the glassware you will be using.

Take your cocktail shaker from the freezer and fill it up completely with ice. Over the ice, pour three (3) ounces of gin. Take your dry vermouth and use the bottlecap as a measure. Add one (1) measure of vermouth to the shaker.

Now, at this point you have a choice to make. You may want to experiment with this if you're a beginner. The choice you have to make is a choice between two distinct mixing techniques, both of which affect important parameters. The choice is this: do you shake, or do you stir?

If you choose to shake, probably the most popular technique (because it's literally a meme), you cool the drink down more. But in the process of shaking, you beat up the ice so there will be little shards of it floating on top of your cocktail when you pour it out. It's a beautiful sight, but sadly the drink will be watered down more as well.

If you choose to stir, the drink will both be stronger and not as cold (it will still get pretty cold though). I personally prefer this variety.

I have found that I prefer pickled onions over olives as a Martini garnish. So technically, I was talking about a Gibson cocktail all this time.

Starting the gym tomorrow lads and scared but excited. This time last year I was never holding a job, downing a 70cl a day, playing runescape all day and being an absolute burden to my mother. She'd leave me dinners outside my room and I'd scurry out to get it. I could hardly open my door due to the amount of piss bottles (formerly vodka and cider bottles), towels with sick on them and stains from sick, piss and spilled drinks. I developed a nasty rash from air borne mold from all the piss and cider and was shitting blood constantly, sleeping 12 hours a day. I didn't realise how bad I was at the time, you know that feeling if you've been there, your brain just deludes its self.

I decided to make a change early this year because it finally hit me that I was going to die if I carry on. I honestly can't pin point when but I decided to give up drinking even just for a little while and distance myself from the game. I ended up cleaning my room out which took 2 full days and started seriously looking for a job after that. I got a haircut as I hadn't had one in 1 year, and managed to score a job 3 months ago.

It's a shit job with shit pay but it gets me out and is night shift so it's less likely for me to drink. I have managed to limit myself to my days off to drink and even then I sometimes decide not to.

I'm currently laying in bed on my phone, just got in from work and just feel so proud of myself. Ive got my gym bag ready for tomorrow night after work. I think I'm gonna make it lads.

Just want you to know it's never too late to make a change. I'm determined to go into 2018 an independent, fit pleb with a job and to just be content with myself.

I had to go to the mental hospital (they have an alcohol addiction ward) and I was given 40-50 mg while I was sitting there over the course of 2 or so hours and then 40-50 more to take home. After three days of this I was given a two week supply in which I would go from 70 mg a day to ten.

Its my 8th day sober and nearly all of my withdrawl side effects are gone besides the headache and nightmares. I feel SO MUCH, but a lot of it is joy. By running from my negative emotions for so long I didn't realize I was also losing the positive ones. This has been so worth all of the physical pain.
