Very similar to a high ABV Pliny the Elder. Not as balanced, and heavier on the grapefruit.

Finally got around to trying this. While it's not mind blowing, I could easily see this being a go to in the summer. It went down incredibly easy

I fucked up a little today in the alcohol expensive Nordic country I live in. Bought myself what I thought was the La Trappe Tripel that I wanted to try. Found out that I had accidentally grabbed La Trappe Dubbel which I've had twice already.
Shit happens. At least I also got myself one Gregorius quadruple so I'll have one new trappist beer to try.

They have very bizarre distribution. None of my local craft beer stores stocked it. I somehow ended up finding a bunch in some street corner crack house liquor store that usually only sells 40s.

Statistically southerners drink much less that the rest of us
>>
>>8492739
The Evangelicals might not drink a lot, but the rednecks who aren't that religious certainly do
>>
>>8492717

>>8492088

>>
>>8492795
Educated white northerners drink the most

Also for the most part evangelicals and rednecks are the exact same people. Not a lot of atheists or Catholics in the south. Drinking patterns very closely breaks now on traditional Catholic vs traditional Evangelical areas
>>
>>8492817
Guinness Extra Stout is really good, though
>>
>>8492836
Most rednecks aren't that religious. I know a white trash family (Trump supporters) and they drink a lot
>>
>>8492842
I'm sure plenty of us anecdotally know some not very religious rednecks, but statistically being religious strongly correlates with not having much money both with rednecks and minorities. The areas where people have the least money, and drink the least, and are most religious all strongly correlate
>>
>>8489528
you don't find mosaic single hop beers give off a garlic, onion flavor?

personally i think that hop should only ever be added during fermentation
>>
>>8492836
I live in as red a state as you can get, and the white trash Drumpf supporters drink a shitload. Sure, they drink garbage pisswater, but that's what you have to expect. Whenever I've offered a homebrew, they act like they'll be poisoned. "Muh I wants muh coors lite".
>>
>>8492859
There are literal dry counties in the south still
>>
>>8492851
I think the type of rednecks who actually take religion seriously might not drink much. But there are tons who either don't care about religion much, or perhaps don't find drinking to be unholy. I suppose this varies by which part of the South, too.

I mean, just listen to current country music, it talks about beer so much. Getting drunk is certainly a redneck pastime.
>>
>>8492856
>you don't find mosaic single hop beers give off a garlic, onion flavor?
Didn't have that with Mosaic yet. There's been beers that tasted like onion, though. Pic related did if I remember correctly. That one was Galaxy and Simcoe, though. I wonder what causes this. I have the feeling it's some brewing/storage defect.

Rednecks love drinking

As well as wearing their hair long.

And while not in this video, smoking weed as well.
>>
>>8492877
My pregame alone is 4 beers and I'm a Northerner too. But I think binge drinking must be pretty common in the South as well.

>>8492859

>>
This is only out for 3 months. What is a similar tasting beer that is available year round?
>>
>>8492859

>>
>>8492932
>what state

Think which state ranks lowest in virtually any category you could name and who's state budget is almost 50% federal money although the vast majority of it's coors and bud light drinking citizens gnash their teeth and wail about needing to cut federal spending in their pentocostal and evangelical tabernacles, located for your convenience, every half block.

Jackson's really the only city that could even approximate "big," and it's virtually all black, so if they think about politics at all, which is doubtful, it's probably left. Brewing alcohol, getting drunk and getting on anonymous internet forums. Not off the grid, but getting closer and closer to it.

>>
>>8490191

>>
>>8492717
You bought some very very bad stuff mate.
Strongbow is one of the most sugar filled ciders on the market. Any beer that comes in a clear bottle does not care about its quality either, so corona is out the door. Guinness is not too bad, but mostly you picked terrible things.
>>
>>8493193
> year round

Good question, I have to think about hoppy ambers that are available year round. Port Brewing Shark Attack is on the redder side. Long Trail Sick Day is a winter seasonal beer you may still be able to find around in the market that I find to be pretty similar to Nugget Nectar.

Besides that I am drawing a blank, I am sure there are tons more.
>>
>>8494340
your beer shouldn't be half head. It should be about an inch thick tops.

That's due to the glass's shape, which admitedly isn't the correct one for Westvleteren.
Also it really depends on the beer style. Some beers should be poured with a proper big head. It's really only the English style ales that don't have a lot of head.
>>
>>8494876
Try some ambers then. Brown ales, hefeweizens, and reds all seem to be pretty good starter beers. Easy drinking with big, but not overwhelming flavors.
Honestly just try whatever the hell you see. That's what I did when I first started getting into beer
>>
>>8494876
I'd just try random shit from your local breweries until you figure out what styles you like and go from there
>>
>>8492717
Lagunitas, Ballast Point and Founders are considered good. I haven't had that particular one from BP but the other two are not bad I can confirm. Guinness is entry level but not bad at all if it's the stronger versions. The last two are swill. You could have done lots better but for a completely total beginner you did alright I guess. You are supposed to have tried Corona anyways so you might as well get it done.

I've got the day off due to yesterday being a 32h weekend in another city. So, beer!

I'm drinking the dregs from my secondary (had about 2 pints left that I felt wouldn't be clear enough to bottle). When it's all done, it should be a somewhat strong (7%), malty, somewhat earthy, semi-sweet brown ale with a german touch from the hops and a belgian pear-banana note from the yeast.

It isn't apply after two weeks, which is a good sign. If this were carbonated, I would probably drink more than a pint.

what does that mean?

Not who you're asking, but I brew beer, and it means he bottled a beer that had completed fermentation in a carboy he had transferred the beer to after an initial fermentation in another container. He was careful not to transfer the layer of sediment to the bottles, but saved the inch or so of liquid for drinking because it will still be good, if uncarbonated.

secondary is referring to a "secondary fermentation vessel." sometimes, beginner homebrewers transfer their recently fermented beer into another container (from primary to secondary), if they are adding fruit, spices, or some other flavoring.

The dregs are the proteins, yeast, and hops that settle at the bottom during fermentation. For the most part, they don't taste very good.

Long story short, this guy has no idea what he's doing, and is trying to impress us.

I see. Thanks for your answers.

I've never homebrewed but want to try it.

Not that guy, but I disagree. While I only secondary my lagers, I've known homebrewers that routinely take ales to secondary. No matter either way, but it's not at all unusual for a homebrewer to save a pint or so of the ending liquid in the fermentation vessel during bottling to drink afterwards, eventhough it isn't carbonated. His pic looked like that's what it was.

>le omfg he went to secondary with an ale! What a hipster/hippie/pretentious neckbeard/can you believe it/:DDD/lel, kek, lol. Pop me up a Coorz, Cletus.

Hillary drinks a lot of wine, I think. Fair play to her, her husbands a rapist and her staff wanted her to cuck the US more than it already is and she lost the presidency to a 70 year old man who acts like a teenager.

They enforce it if they catch you. A friend of mine bought a six pack of american pisswater in a neighboring county and they had a roadblock setup at the border of the dry county and he got a ticket for possession and they confiscated it. He's in his early 30's. Fortunately my county went wet a couple years ago.
