Okay, I'm sick of this cooking mystique bullshit.
>garlic
>onions
>hot peppers
>salt
>MAYBE something acidic
>VERY RARELY basil, cilantro, parsley or coriander
>random fucking proteins, fats and carb macronutrients
What the fuck else is necessary in any standard recipe?
>parsley
>very rarely
Your vanilla cake recipe is shit
Fuck off /fat/

Your cooking sounds pretty bland and basic. Challenge yourself, don't just concede that what you listed is all there is. It's obviously not true

Okay I'm willing to concede that umami, tomato and dairy products can also often be essential
But aside from that, what else? Everything else that fancy people put in their shit is just an abstraction of what's already listed here.

'the essential'...Umami-chan is born
i've only been cooking for a year, but i'm coming to a similar realization. getting flavors right is pretty much common sense. most of the difficulty seems to be in achieving satisfying texture.
i've also noticed myself getting significantly more elitist about food.

Cumin
Oregano
Bay Leaf
Paprika
Pick any Oil ever
Dairy (butter, whipping cream, cheese, etc)
Peppercorn
Almonds (shredded)
A million others, but my point is proven
At least try if your going to act retarded.

Cumin is my favorite spice. I sometimes just eat it raw!

>eat cumin raw
>enjoying cumin in your mouth regularly
I think not much is needed to be said.
I really hate people who don't eat onions
Caramelized onions are the nectar of the gods. So sweet

You owe me a pair of brand new sides you fucker

It's really good in the Portuguese rice-with-beans and tomatoes I sometimes make. Very hearty.

Hot peppers are certainly not essential. Salt is rarely necessary on top of the protein, though a green spice very commonly is. What the fuck does maybe something acidic even mean? Also your list only makes sense for european entres. No desserts? No salads, no soups, no vegetables?
Oh, and cilantro is the same thing as coriander.
>>8460074
I think that OP might be talking about coriander seeds, not coriander leaves.
