>high quality steak only needs butter and salt
Is he right? He insists on saying so every so often.
no pepper?

No pepper?
>tfw dipping a perfectly cook med rare ribeye in ranch dressing.
is there a better taste on earth?
I like A1

pepper ruins a good stake

it's bullshit, it needs plenty of salt and plenty of pepper that cooks in the pan with the steak

This. Maybe not tons of S and P, but it needs to be rubbed on before cooking. I like it with a little olive oil. Gives it a nice char
That guy is obviously a piece of shit. Who puts salt on the side?
Always only cook my steaks with salt, pepper and a continuous butter baste while pan frying. Maybe a little thyme in the pan with the butter when I remember to water my herbs.
Simple and effective.

It was from one of those "white peoples don't season food" threads and that was his response

He could be considered right if he didn't say salt on the side. Their are very few ingredients that aren't improved with salt. For me I just do an olive oil and cayenne pepper marinade. Heavy salt and pepper rub before throwing in the pan, butter paste with garlic and onion. I usually make a pan sauce and end up not using it.
Depends on the cut. I'd be a waste of a fillaaaaay mingyon to season it so sparsely.
>salt on the side
>no pepper
It's like he hates having a sear. When I sear my steaks, I lay on a generous layer of salt and coarsely ground pepper, about as course as the salt, for a nice crusty sear.
