Where any of you picky eaters as a child? What did it take to help you get over it?

My brother never got over it, he likes either super spicy food(mostly tikka masala) or margherita pizza(peels off the cheese) and if a sauce has anything in it other than mince like say vegetables he will pick them out and not eat them, Its strange because i will eat and try almost anything but he eats very few things and what he does has to be made his specific way, the only burgers he will eat other than ones he has made himself(which has to be fresh meat for some reason even though he freezes it?) are mcdonalds burgers lol, hes the fussiest person i know and the only fussier person ive met when i was younger is this kid who would only eat mcdonalds chips and ice cream.

Your pallet and appreciation of flavor grows as you get older. Any food you dislike you should revisit every 2-3 years because you might actually enjoy it.

Beyond that, travel and eat food from different cultures. You'll learn to appreciate it. If you go to france and order a hamburger you should be slapped in the mouth.

As a kid I wouldn't eat any seafood other than fish sticks, I will now eat pretty much any regular fish, shell fish, and calamari if it's breaded only.....I still will not eat anything like clams, mussels, oysters, etc

As a kid I hated steak because I always wanted it cooked well done, and then hated it because it took forever to chew in my mouth and I couldn't stop chewing to swallow it, I would just spit it out, I no longer do this


Also, my friend used to hate onions way more than I did, he'd order bean burritos at Taco Bell with "no onions" and then he'd tear through the thing with his hands trying to find onions, he'd make a mess and look like an idiot

I was an extremely picky eater up until my teenage years when my friends would invite me along for birthday dinners and I'd be forced to find something to eat at Thai and Indian restaurants and places like that. So it was a combination of finding out that a lot of food I was afraid of is actually delicious and just being fed up with feeling embarrassed having to always ask for restaurants to leave out ingredients and worrying about what I'd order when I went out to eat somewhere new.
