Delightful. I make them for St. Patrick's Day every year, but really it's a great meal all year.

Also correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure it's traditionally Polish, but is associated with Irish because >cabbage.

Pretty much every Eastern European culture has a Cabbage Roll, what we know as Cabbage Rolls came out of German/Polish neighborhoods in the Midwest in the 30's. They became associated with Irish culture due to A:Cabbage, and B: often sharing neighborhoods and thus adopting traditional foods of their German/Polish neighbors.

t. Youngstonian who eats the fuck out of cabbage rolls.

This. I've had Moldovan Sarmale made by a bonafide Moldovan grandmother; they were great.

same, they're just satisfying and tasty without having overwhelming amounts of flavor

it would be hard to get sick of them

What is the secret to the sauce of a good cabbage roll? I know it isn't Italian at all, so what is it?

Clearly tomato based, lots of fat. But how should one season that shit?
>>

I put lots of bacon over mine, bacon fat probably
>>
I am making some for new years. What is a good stuffing recipe? I have some fresh ground pork but was wanting some suggestions on what else to add.
>>
It's called halupki
>>
I always thought eastern European food was weird until I ended up working with a bunch of them on a ship. Ended up loving the fuck out of it after being forced to eat it or face starvation, Golabki especially.
